I was headed home from the hospital and stopped for a couple of items. I walked towards the 15 items or less checkout and an older gentleman named Mark who was the checker started yelling at me from 20 feet away that I had more than 15 items. It completely caught me off guard and I got so upset and tears were starting to run so I hurried over to the self checkout but was struggling. I ended up having 17 items and stopped at customer service on my way out and left my name, number and receipt letting them know that I wanted to have the manager call me. The customer service girl knew exactly who had yelled at me and said that is common for him. The manager Courtney Jensen never contacted me and so my husband called her and she told him they are aware of Mark treating customers bad but it is none of our business on how she is going to discipline him if she even does at all. My husband told her he wanted Mark to call me and apologize. She stated that is not an option because he will just be rude to me again. Knowing they have a person who continues to treat people horribly and they keep letting it happen shows that Courtney does not care about her customers. We have spent thousands of dollars at Smiths over the years but they have seen the last dollar from us. Avoid them and especially avoid Mark if you go to this store. I seem to get overcharged everytime I shop at the Smiths Marketplace in Springville. I called corporate when I realized the store was not giving back sales tax on the over charge. Corporate was of no help. In fact, they were awful. I also bought a pastry item at the same store that should have been refrigerated. I bought it one day before the sell by date. It was gross because it was moldy. If you shop at this store, be sure and check your sale's receipt before leaving. Or even better, check every item the cashier rings up. Someone from corporate seriously needs to look at their stores and find out why customers are constantly being over charged. read more

I ran out of my prescription late the night before, not realizing until the afternoon the day after. So, seeing it was close to their closing time I called 10 min ahead asking, then pleading if they could stay just 1 or 2 minutes past closing time, since I was rushing to get there and had to sit behind traffic, to which the tech put me on hold to ask their leads and returned 5 min later by telling me unless i could get there before 4pm exactly id have to wait. Being utterly stressed out from not having my medicine, i tried my best to get there, and did get there, just, at 4:0pm. I pulled up to the drive in and clicked the call button at 1 min past and i was ignored. I can't believe what a frustrating experience this was for me, already trying to deal with depression and anxiety, and forced to go without medication because i was 1min late... just, yeah. read more

Terrible delivery and Smith's won't even accept returned items, says I have to find and go through Instacart (they gave me a national Instacart phone number to call). Shopper/driver only spoke Spanish and substituted items (I had checked NO SUBSTITUTONS when ordering online). Management at Smith's was unapologetic and unhelpful. I shop at this store all the time in fact I've moved to Santaquin and still come north to Springville for my Smiths shopp even tho there is a Smiths in Payson. Today (2/19/2023) we were in the self check out lines and Leila (I hope I spelled her name right) was a super sweet helpful employee when we were having issue with barcodes on a couple things. On top of that she was super funny. I personally think she needs a raise and probably a management role with a great attitude like that!!! After now years of dealing with Smith's grocery pickup, I am officially done. Too many years of details to go into, but here are a couple of highlights: - Absolutely no means of reporting problems. Via their app, website, Kroger corporate phone numbers, or any other method of contact, they do not provide customers a way to resolve issues. They simply don't care if you get bad, rotten, damaged or even missing items in your order. Too bad, better luck next time I guess. Don't try to get ahold of them. It will only frustrate you, because that's how they want it. - Their app - where you shop, place orders, and receive all communication about your orders - doesn't work properly and doesn't show the same information that the store has. The app tells you when your order is ready for pickup, but that means nothing to the store. They explained to me that the app is "automated " and they have no control over what it's telling customers. Great system! - Terrible quality of fresh foods. Unless their shoppers are monumentally bad at picking the worst available produce, they don't even try to weed out the bad produce from the good...assuming there is any good. I've had bananas damaged and beat up, bags of lettuce already spoiled, containers of cherry tomatoes absolutely full of mold -- all of this was very visible. In fact there is no way to avoid knowing that this stuff is bad when you're grabbing it off the shelf. After a bit of internet research, I'm finding that these behaviors are systemic and are bred and fostered by Kroger Corporation. So it appears that they don't need customer satisfaction. Poor customer service, poorly trained cashiers Bought an item and total was $17.13 put down a $20 bill and a quarter. Cashier said I cannot take change unless it's exact change because there is a change shortage. I will put your balance due back to you on your Smith's card. So I get my $20 bill back from him and give him $18.00 and tell him to keep the change as a tip for being rude to the customer read more

Great store in many ways, absolutely horrible returns policies and they are draconian about their closing times. Don't try to nip in for something just before closing; they refuse entry at least 20 minutes before store closing, citing corporate policies (which they also cite to refuse clothing returns, despite not allowing try ons; spoiled food returns; and even still-sealed, unused health/beauty products returns). It's amazing how a store so big can quite often not have what I need. *5-stars for hot menu and lunch options. My kids and I love the large rectangle pizzas that we can split for an inexpensive cost. I also appreciate the soda machines and eating area. This mama always needs her DP fix, especially while shopping with crazy little kiddos. Kind and happy employees, and I am still appreciative of the quick checkout experience- they always come out and make sure there are not long lines past 2 people in line. 3-stars for not carrying simple items like: cake flour (any brand), acai juice, and Aloha soy sauce. I was super impressed with the floral options and they even had a Starbucks. We grabbed some chicken from the deli and the kid hooked us up since it was getting late. Go to cash out 7 pm day before Mother's Day lines backed up clear down the isles only right side of store self check out, had 3 or 4 cashiers. I was working out of town and stayed at a hotel near this store. My room had a fridge/microwave in it - so I went to get some staples (food/drinks) so I didn't have to be constantly eating-out. This is a nice/clean store. Clean bathrooms. Staff there is really friendly. I shop at Fry's locally in my home area (Phoenix,) so I was use to the Smith's (sister store,) layout and products. They have plenty of self-checkout areas. The parking lot is huge and easy to park in. They have a fuel-station there as well where I could use my Fry's fuel-points rewards! read more

I'm in town from California visiting my cousin. I'm heading home in the morning and wanted to run to Smiths to grab a few drinks and a bag of ice. That's it. My cousin who also happens to manage a Smiths bakery/different location let me know Smith's is open till 11:00pm. So I get there around 10:45 and as I'm walking in I get told I cannot come in. "Sorry we close the doors at 10:45" I thought it was super weird but I turned and walked back to my vehicle. As I was driving back to my cousins I decided to call Smiths to ask why they close the doors 15 minutes early as well as get the name of the front manager that night and who's head of the store. Because not letting people in after 10:45 is completely WRONG. If that's what time you want to close the doors then you need to change that online. If not you need to let people come in up until 11pm. That IS 100 percent how it's supposed to be. I was super frustrated. The woman I spoke to on the phone I could tell was the same voice that would not let me in 15 min prior to closing. Her reason for closing the doors at 10:45 is because they needed to clock out by 11:00. So you clock out the same time your store closes?! No. You don't have any closing tasks to do? And get this... She HANGS UP on me. I seriously couldn't even believe it. She hung up on me before I could get any names. So I called back a couple of times and this woman completely ignored my calls. I have worked for a grocery store in California. Raleys/Bel Air. We would never ever in a million years treat customers that way. EVER. If we did we would get written up without a shadow of a doubt. So I decided to go back to the store to get the names. I wouldn't have even gone back if I didn't get hung up on before I could ask for the information I was looking for. When I pulled up.. Out front was who I'm assuming was a courtesy clerk. Young sweet girl. Glasses. Maybe dark blonde hair. I actually wished I had gotten her name because she was a better example of what quality customer service should be. A class act! So shout out to that girl. Even though she could tell I was frustrated. She was kind and polite and was able to give me the information I was looking for. KELLY! Kelly was the woman who shut the doors 15 min prior to closing. Kelly was the woman who hung up on me before I could ask for a name and who I could speak to about my concerns. Which also thanks to that sweet girl I found out is Dal. I'm more displeased about her unprofessionalism and distasteful customer service than anything else at this point. If Kelly can't interact with a customer when there's a concern then Kelly should not have this position or career. When you have customer with a concern. You listen. You hear them out and you be kind. At least that's what I learned in my grocery training. Perhaps Kelly needs to stock shelves where she doesn't have to interact with customers? Considering she hung up on me and deliberately didn't answer the calls afterward... Customer service isn't her strong suit. If I ran a store I would want someone in charge who your customers enjoy seeing and interacting with. Treat customers with respect. The employees that keep customers happy and coming back. Kelly unfortunately lacked all of these things. I expressed this whole incident to my cousin and she couldn't believe it either. That there's multiple issues that go against what Smiths stands for. Which is reassuring because I was honestly under the impression Smiths don't value their customers. 15 minutes prior to closing is ridiculous. My cousin is going to speak out about this also. Kelly your customer service was disturbing and atrocious. Take notes from the employees working under you that probably are better off doing your job than you. I will definitely be reaching out to Dal about all of these concerns and if there's anyone who is Dal's boss I wouldn't mind speaking with you as well. I have always loved Smith's but this is probably one of the best Smith's stores around. This is my all-time favorite grocery store to shop at. It is so big and has everything. It is nice and clean and makes shopping enjoyable especially with Starbucks right inside. I can have my cake and eat it too! They even offer the little kid carts which my kids get way too excited about. This store also offers Clicklist, the online ordering system where you shop for all of your groceries online and then come pick them up at your designated time. The Clicklist employees have all been spectacular. They are quick to bring me my order, thorough, and willing to help out with any issues or out-of-stock items until I am satisfied. I have only had one issue at this store before and it was when I was checking out and I needed one more item of something that I bought so I had the cashier ring me up for that extra item. I had four little kids with me who were getting out of hand and a cart chock full of groceries. I was not excited to have to go halfway through the store and also felt awkward walking back with my groceries already bagged to grab that one item so I stopped at customer service on the way to explain my situation and see what they wanted me to do and the lady just brushed me off and told me to go find my item. True, exceptional customer service would have offered to run and grab that item for me real quick but instead the lady was annoyed for me even trying to talk to her, and with that, my grocery trip was ruined and I was quite exasperated and disappointed. read more

Pretty dang cool. I was skeptical. I lived near the store in Provo for a lot of years, so I was expecting a store like that. No frills, no extra stuff, nothing fancy, just a big average grocery store that was a little higher price than others. However this is something much nicer. Walmart is like a huge store that sells groceries. This is like a huge grocery store that sells other stuff. Just nice things. It also stocks many items that are premium items. Things that you may not see at other grocery stores. Not at walmart because they seem to not sell premium stuff, and not at the small stores because they do not have the shelf space. I am getting very frustrated with the receipting process. I love shopping at the store with the variety of items, however, most every time I checkout and review the receipt at home, there are numerous pricing errors which are not in my favor. As a disabled senior, it is very inconvenient to have to call back to customer service to explain, then get invited to come back to their store so they can correct the wrong prices and issue me a credit. It has become so repetitive that I am growing reluctant to shop there anymore for only this reason. The receipt printers usually always need a new ink cartridge so you can read them, however, there are many reasons why customers don't catch this at the time of checkout....hurried customers behind you or the simple manner of how they ring out each item which does not display correct. Receipting process at counter is difficult to follow because if you have not scanned your rewards card before they begin, the pricing is not correct for a rewards customer. Even then, pricing is difficult with their discounts to understand. There have been instances where the actual coupons submitted were not calculated as what happened today again. I even asked the clerk if she did my one coupon and she said yes. When I got home, there is no $1 off coupon anywhere. WATCH YOUR CHECKOUT PROCESS AND REVIEW YOUR RECEIPTS FROM THIS STORE. The sales with coupons are awesome but every single time I have gone in to buy stuff on sale it NEVER rings up the sale price on certain items and so I have to always go to customer service to get my money back. I have decided that I will not buy large quantities of stuff so that I can make sure It is ringing up the right price other than that I would give 5 stars for everything else. How could anybody not like a big new shiny store, right? That part is great! With that being relayed I have to ponder whether or not the 'experiemce' is worth paying somtimes as much as double for the same item down the block. Without consciously trying to compare prices against other local store offerings one can quicly see that Smiths prices for groceries can be astronomically high, are astronomically high. This is much the case and path of the way Springville, Utah is moving toward. Having moved here in 2014 my rent for an almost new three bedroom home by the new baseball park near the river was 1200. Circa 2018 and a new rec center almost completed the same house just rented for 1650. Yes, that is an increase of 450 dollars in almost four years! Being familiar with the rental market here I can factually share that this is the new normal for most rentals as owners/managers push higher and higher for profit off their rentals. Gain is one thing as robbery is another. The rental market has become an avenue for highway robbery! The highetr rentals will bring in those who can afford to shop and not pay attention to price. Lucky for them! Those of us on a fixed income are being slowly but surely pushed out of this area via high rent and higher groceries. It seems unfair that the rents are being raised so high when nothing is different about the rental from four years ago. It is simply greed. My budget does not warrant paying 8 dollars for the same frozen pie that is on!y 4.99 down the street. I clearly understand I am not the market Springville, Utah is wanting to keep or attract. And, heck... If you charge it they who have it will come!I With that being relayed, one will find some of the better meat departments, along with Reams, in Smiths. And when on sale the meats can be a great deal, also at Reams. If you are like me and lookimg for quality meat and prodice while trying to save a buck you most likely find yourself shoppimg at multiple grocery strores in town! While prices can be ridiculously low at Walmart for clothes I want to share that when Smiths has a sale on their clothing, usually toward the end of any given season, it is one of the best deals around! If you hit it just right. Sometimes there is an additional ten percent coupon in sale ad for clothes that can be used in conjunction with c!othes that are 70 percent off. And if you are really lucky you will walk in Smiths the day they knock the end of season clothing down to 80 percent off! The quality and styles of the clothing is great and the sale is the best place/time to buy clothes! Having experoemced the Smiths marketplace in Logan I am able to give an opinion on the garden area. I was very impressed with the Logan store and the vast array of garden offerings\plants\seeds and everything you can imagine to create a great garden that Smiths marketplace had to offer. When I heard that a marketplace was being built locally I was excited about having the garden department available again. Sadly, I was very disapointed in the garden area Springville Smiths had\has to offer. There are only a few plants and the rest are all high-end flowers and deco items. And not much space is assigned toward garden. Hey Smiths! How come you do not have the same garden offerings that Logan store had to offer? Big letdown on that one! Last but not least, and this is important, there is an AWFUL POOP smell particularly in the clothing and shoe area, near dressing room. It permeates the entire area and I was so overcome with the fumes of poop that I had to leave and get fresh air! Turns out an employee quietly told me there is a leak in the sewer poop/system and when being built the sewer pipes were somehow connected or along the same path as air infiltration is directed. THE POOP LEAK IS NOT BEING FIXED AS PROMISED MONTHS AFTER THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM! The employees in that area are forced to put up with permeating smells of poop through the air or go find another job. The employee told me they are actually loosing customers over it! (Guess that means more 70 percent clothing for those of us wiliing to suffer through that.) Seriously, isn't that some sort of health violatuon for the employee who is forced to deal with that? The store management found out that floors and pipes all have to be pulled up, a major job! Employees are told it will be fixed since it has been open; yet, nothing is done. I even smelled it down by the meat section. Serious!y folks,! It is bad and wrong on so many levels! Perhaps if any other Folks out there have experienced the poop dilemma I explained by it would be proper and right to write in and complain for the sake of those poor employees!! When it is all said and done I cannot wait to get a Harmons down here! That is most likely next, right? Sure hope they use another contractor for the air\poop filtration system! P.S. I used to drive out of my way to go to smiths because they carry so many things that other grocery stores do not. I started ordering my groceries and picking them up from the store and the first few times it was a breeze. The last few times they have given me ROTTEN ITEMS! The best part is, the items aren't even expired, so that means the employees are just letting them sit out and go bad. 2 things of milk (milk was set to expire March 9th!) and a bag of onions. Like come on! I grabbed a bag of tortillas in store and they were totally old and stale. Very disappointed. When I called the store about this problem, I was first hung up on. Had to call back, then was transferred FOUR separate times (having to explain what happened each time) only to be told they can't/won't do anything and if I feel it necessary, I can talk to a manager next time I am in store. I WILL not be coming back to your store because you sell OLD and ROTTEN items to your customers and don't care. Shady business. Go to literally any other grocery store around here so you can get fresh groceries that won't make your family sick! read more
