We eventually withdrew him from his local public school and found GFA. It worked out really well. He found a great group of friends and was academically challenged. The teachers really cared about him and despite its small size, there were enough extra curriculars and clubs to keep him engaged. I strongly recommend this school if the public school is not a good fit for your child or you are looking for them to be challenged. The Teachers go out of their way to create classes to meet the needs of the students, and the results and college acceptances prove that.

The staff are knowledgable, kind and helpful and are focused on the education of children. We have been pleasantly surprised with how well GFA is run and how well our daughter is learning and growing. The school politics are detrimental to the students who don't come from "good" families. The teachers and administrators come and go all the time. In 4 years I had 6 principals including 2 interim principals. One of the principals also came and went twice in the span of 3 years. Gibault has gone down hill so much. Fr. Ed had a beautiful vision for the school in which the students were given freedoms which set Gibault apart from other schools. But that time is past. Rules get stricter and stricter each year. This school is more like a prison it is not college preparatory because the children are not given any independence.

Once a Former student Jason Karstens is now the current Principle. The school has over 3000 kids enrolled from grades 9-12. Each grade level has their own Assistant Principal and Administrative Assistant. The school campus is built in a college format; with multi large buildings that may or may not be connected. Teachers, Counselors, Social Workers and nurses are available to assist students and parents via phone, email or in person. Studies include Career and Technical education. Clubs; including Animal Welfare, Youth and Government along with sports are offered to all students interested. The students must maintain their grades and attendance to participate in extracurricular activities. Belleville East is a public school but there are enrollment, books and sport fees. Based on parents income your child may have to pay for lunch in full or reduced. Uniforms are required of Khaki, Blue, Black bottoms and solid white, blue, gray or maroon tops. Most language classes and/or clubs take trips to explore that native language. Coming up; a Spanish class will experience Peru in 2018. Which is paid for my the parents for their child to attend.
