Such an amazing experience. The views on the trail were beautiful! The horses were well behaved and you can tell they are taken care of. The guides do a great job at making everyone feel comfortable regardless of rider experience. The staff was incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. They made sure we were having a good time and made sure we got all the pictures we wanted. At the end of the ride they let you have a little "goodbye" moment with your horse while the staff welcomes feedback and questions. Would definitely ride with them again! read more

Had a wonderful time on the 9am ride on Feb 4th! The three of us rode Cole, Sonny, and Moose who were all sweet, well-behaved, and patient with us. The guides were great too. (I forgot their names) they made interesting conversation and gave us pointers without being overbearing. The trail was diverse with multiple water crossings and some steeper climbs. The horses were gentle and knew the route so well that for the most part you just get to enjoy the view and the experience with no worries at all. The online booking and in person check in were super smooth, too. Definitely recommend! read more

Took the kidlet and a couple of his kiddo friends here for their first horseback ride. STS offers one hour horseback rides on the hour, so arrive about 20 mins ahead of the time you want to go to fill out paperwork and settle the bill before your session starts. Kids must be at least 7 years old to ride and are required to wear helmets. Adults may choose to wear a helmet or cowboy hat or no headgear at all. You sign a waiver before you start and pay the $60 per person fee. They give you a small saddle bag to put a water bottle that they provide and any personal belongings you want to bring (phone, keys etc). Just a note - these saddle bags aren't big so leave your larger items such as a purse home or in your car. They have all types of horses to match your riding ability. The last time I'd been on a horse was over 25 years ago and the kids were all first-timers so they gave us some nice, tame horses. I was honestly quite nervous as I hadn't been on a horse since I was a kid, but the guides did a great job of making us all feel comfortable and telling us exactly how to sit, put our feet in the stirrups, and hold/maneuver the reins. Our horses were awesome and we had a nice ride (estimating it was about a total of 45 mins?). It was neat to see that each horse had its own personality. They were all well behaved and for the most part followed the horse directly in front of them. The kids had a wonderful first horseback riding experience. I would def recommend this to anyone looking for something fun to do in the area. All the staff we encountered were very knowledgeable and friendly. The day we went it was in the 80's temperature-wise, and it was warm but not too hot. I can't imagine going for a ride during the hot summer months since there is no shade out there. Oh, and don't be an idiot like me and wear white as it is VERY dusty out there especially if you're riding in the back of the other horses since you get all the dust that comes up when they walk. Amazing experience. Next time we come back to Palm Springs we want to try the longer ride. Giddyup! read more

the process to book online was a very easy process. Everyone was pleasant, the guide was helpful as well. I can't say I enjoyed it because this was my first horse bike ride and I felt thrown at an advanced level of riding. There wasn't assistance or step stool to guide you off the horse, I am barely 5'2. the entire trail was rocky terrains and narrow uphill and downhill. I was terrified and kept myself from slipping off the horse. I didn't have any expectations going with this tour, but it would be helpful for beginners for your business to include a video on your website to help your guest know what they are signing up for. This trail is not for the faint of heart. read more

A Palm Springs must! I came here in early October for my sister's bachelorette party with 9 of her closest friends. I was aiming to schedule the horseback riding for 10 AM but they only had an 8 AM available which proven to be the best choice for us. Although we had to wake up super early the weather was just divine. We did the 60 minute ride and had two tour guides with us. Majority of us were first time riders so you can imagine how scared we were! We opted not to wear helmets...but tbh once I got on the horse I regretted not feeling that sense of security. If you are a newbie, do not choose fashion over safety! However, the tour guides were so reassuring and had so much faith in their horses. My horse's name was Ben and he was so well mannered! I would recommend wearing scarf or a bandanna because you will be going on a dusty trail. I was lucky enough to be near the front so I didn't get as much dust in my face but the girls in the back had a whole different story. If you're looking for an activity for a bachelorette party, birthday celebration, or just looking for something to do in Palm Springs, I would highly recommend checking out Smoke Tree Stables. I definitely will be back and try out the Indian Canyons Trail for $120 someday! Scheduling: - Shoot them an email but the best way is to give them a call. Whaaack: - None Whereabouts: Located south of Palm Springs. The drive is beautiful as you head towards the mountain and you get to see all the classic Palm Springs houses on the way. Casey was very helpful with detailed riding instructions which when followed gave me such confidence riding on the hilly terrain. I had only ridden once before on more even terrain, and with the instruction from Casey I felt way more comfortable riding in the mountains. It was such a great ride not only for the fact that I was comfortable, but in addition Eva was such a great guide. Very knowledgeable of the area, gave good directions for handling the hills, watching for overhanging branches, and picker bushes. The 1.5 hour group ride was beautiful, and it was engaging to know the land we rode on was an Indian preservation. Thank you for the wonderful experience. read more

Hard to beat this experience. Great family fun and in an amazing setting. The horses were sure footed and knew exactly how to traverse the trails. Even my 12 year old daughter loved it. Palm canyon was fantastic in the late afternoon sun. We all felt safe and in control during the whole journey. It does get a little dusty so maybe a bandana or mask might add some comfort. The provided helmets and saddle bags were cleaned and sanitized which I appreciated. After the ride into Murray canyon take some time to explore the loop trail from the parking lot up into the canyon for some nice spots to sit and listen to the stream. There is a very old barrel cactus standing but who knows for how much longer. Check it out if you can on the loop back. Truly a majestic place. read more

My 9yo and I went for a 2 hour trail ride this morning. The staff were excellent and knowledgeable about horses, natural history and Native American history of the lands we were traveling thru. We ventured up and down mountain sides and thru rocky streams. I visited the stable with my 14 year old son and wife. This was my first time on a horse for a long distance, the wife a kid have been riding a few times. The staff was very attentive and gave instructions at the right times. We went out as a group of 20 and they had more than enough staff to help everyone. It is a must when in the Palm Springs area and the views were awesome!! Price was so worth it! They didn't rush a thing, especially the instructions for a first timer. The horses were beautiful. The trail was amazing. We went for the 8am ride and it was pretty warm by the end of it. So happy we chose that time. We also went with my 7yr old & 17yr old and they both loved it. Would highly recommend. The staff was amazing, kind, and funny. There was a gentleman in front and my 7yr old was right behind him & then 3 of us after and Rae was behind me (staff member). After that it was the rest of the group and more staff members spaced throughout. We had cowboy hat helmets. We felt really safe. The horses were funny and had great personalities. Their 3 dogs were gorgeous. The Queensland healer reminded me of our gal that passed. We are locals and my spouse had never been on a horse. Great for all skill levels. Never rode a horse in my life I am not in tuned with a horse's intellect I have no education regarding horses so to me they are big and scary and I don't trust them due to there size and how they can buck u off or run off with you? NOW yo the Amazing part as a 1st rider .. staff was great, patient and informative and they know they are walking 1st timers through this hike up the mountain! Now how they remain calm I don't know because I literally was living on the edge with this beauty of a horse and if I wld of knew ahead how close to edges we were, I probably wld of talked myself out of it! But I can't describe the view of the dessert and freedom u get by taking this ride. U definitely walk away with a different perspective of life. I definitely will do it again ! Now to no fault of the stable company . The 4 stars Is because I wld of loved to have a video or pics in route up the mountain , i wish was provided for purchase. U just can't explain the experience!! U have to see it! And as a 1st timer my hands cld not use a phone and hold on to a horse or maintain posture and keep horse align with the others. We did a 1hour 45min trail ride. It was amazing! We say big horn sheep, rode through the creeks, and along beautiful rock and palm tree formations. The guides were helpful and knowledgable on the trail and with helping us get comfortable on the horses. We had 2 children with us (7 years old) and the guides were amazing with helping the children ride safely on the horses. We would do it again on our next trip to Palm Springs. read more
