Presumably this is because of the proximity to City Of Poughkeepsie, but I see no reason for it. This location has a bit of a confusing situation because you really need to remember which entrance you use so you can get back to your vehicle without having to circle the entire building with an overflowing cart of groceries. They are pros and cons to shopping here. Staff is extremely friendly to the point where you feel like you're at a neighborhood small grocery. But this place is massive with an abundance of imports and unique offerings from around the region. I belong to a farm cooperative, so I don't usually need vegetables. However, in this case, I did shop produce to locate some organic options to serve with the scallops and shrimp. The presentation is wonderful, but the prices are outrageous. Year over year, the same items that I purchased at Adam have increased by at least 30%. Some of that is due to the current geopolitics, but some of it is just plain exorbitant pricing. My purchase: A stop at Seafood to make sure they had 2 pounds of sea scallops approximately $24 per pound- wild caught. And the colossal shrimp more than $20 per pound also wild caught. Next stop a birthday cake - everything looks wonderful and I'm sure that there are items that are not mass produced with lots of fillers, but idea say that they probably use the same cake mixes as the less pricey supermarkets. Regardless, I had no time to bake so I picked up a 6 inch carrot cake - $26. And a fresh fruit tart 9 inch $29.
