Good food and good service. Smokey's has a nice "old school" barbeque feel. They have a nice little dining area. The restaurant decor is vintage, they have a T.V. and a bar in the back. They had a chicken wing (bone in) special. I decided on the special, garlic parmesan chicken wings with ranch dip. It was a delicious choice, the wings were cooked perfectly and very savory. Went on Saturday January 11,2025 .Our party of 3 ordered ribs and a chopped streak with an order of brisket nachos .Both orders of ribs were very dry and no flavor. Mac and cheese just no seasoning what so ever( just tasted of noodles ) same goes for the chopped steak. The nachos were really good though . French fries were ok not even hot when they got to our table. Service was great. We will not be going back. read more

In the quiet town of Republic, Ohio sits Smokey's Family Restaurant. I have heard many good things about this place so when my dad suggested it for dinner on one of my Ohio visits, I eagerly accepted. Arriving at 8:00pm, we found that we were the only customers. I think one couple came in during our visit. They close at 9:00 on Sunday evening so that's why they weren't busy. From what I hear, they can be quite busy on Saturday night. The restaurant has plenty of street parking which is angled so you can pull in right in front of the restaurant. Leading the way to the front door is a very nice wheelchair ramp and railing. The inside of the building is filled with neat antiques and very cozy. The front area has both tables and booths and the room in the back is the bar area where you can enjoy sitting up at the bar or there are also a few tables and chairs. The only negative regarding the facility is that the bathrooms are very small. There is barely enough room to turn around so it would be difficult to get in and out for people with disabilities or possibly tending to small children. (I knocked the top of the waste can off...oops). My dad had forewarned me that I might want to leave my purse with him due to the small space and no place to put it. The food was very good, both my dad and I enjoyed a large pulled pork sandwich, served with a big order of hand cut fries. The sandwich was served with a large deep fried onion ring on top, with some extra BBQ sauce on the side. They also serve a small cup of cole slaw with your platter. Warning, it looks very similar to their ranch dressing and we were accidentally served that instead of the slaw. We asked the waitress about it and she promptly brought us the correct item. My dad's friend ordered a bowl of loaded baked potato soup for her entree and it looked delicious! If you save room for dessert, they have some beautiful looking cakes made by the owner. However, after I polished off the last bite of my sandwich, I realized I would need to make another trip to Smokey's to sample those sweet treats! I lived in the area for years and always made it to Fatheads and usually walked across the street to Smokeys for dessert. Finally stopped in for dinner, and it did not disappoint! We got there at around 4 pm, and as we sat down, the place got packed! The food was really good and the service was perfect. The servings were a good size, the beer was cold, and we took dessert home to enjoy. When the weather warms up, we're going to ride up to enjoy the patio! read more

Great restaurant. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the unique penny tables. I went there with my friend. We went on a Saturday night and it was hoppin'! The service was still prompt and food came out in a timely manner. The server was really sweet and helped us decide on the best dish to get based on our preferences. The bar was full. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We ordered drinks and the beer selection was great. Make sure you save room for the dessert!! The homemade pie was delicious. I'm still thinking about it. Small-town cafe food ahead. Big portions, deep-fried and brought out hot. Not so much with the veggies, but who is here on a Saturday night for a salad? ANYWAY. We made a reservation (they do take them, and it might be a good idea for larger groups) for Saturday night. Ribs were on special, so three half-racks of ribs and one perch dinner. The ribs are meaty, with plenty of sauce. I took a bite, and they were tender, too. My perch was fried & tasted great. Everything else was standard (rolls, baked potatoes, tater tots, fried green beans), but they had pickled eggs! Yes to those, pickled eggs & beets made the dinner better. They have some delicious-looking cakes on display, so don't overeat your dinner and miss out like we did. read more

For a place called smokeys you would think they would have good bbq food. Truth is you don't find much bbq on the menu! Poor quality of food. There meatloaf is better used as a doorstop.
