I would look forward to my appointments with Megan so much. My kids always loved going to see Megan too, they never wanted to leave the office. At a typical appointment you have all the normal listening to the heartbeat, blood pressure etc. but she also spends ample time getting to know you, what you're dealing with in life and what kind of birth you're hoping to have so she can best support you emotionally and physically. My second two boys were born happy, healthy and at home with Megan there to support. I was in my 2nd trimester with my 3rd child when my husband was laid off and forced to find a new job. Fortunately and unfortunately he was able to find a new job very quickly but it was in northern CA. So for the last 4.5 months of my pregnancy my husband was 4 hours away all week and he'd drive home on weekends. When I went into labor it went FAST. I was planning on cleaning, setting up my pullout bed with sheets and filling the tub by myself but by the time I told Megan to come, I wasn't able to move anymore between contractions. Megan picked up right where I left off and quickly got things in order. My sweet husband and my mom were unable to make it to the house before baby came out. So it was just me, Megan and Mary her apprentice. Even though my family couldn't make it, these women showered me with love and support and I was able to focus all of my energy on having my baby. Sadly heading into January 2022 I ended up having miscarriage.... couple months had passed by since the miscarriage and we found out we were pregnant again with our rainbow baby! Erin was right there every step reassuring me and helping me out on what I can do to help my body carry this baby to term! Well it happened and now I have one kick ass birth story to tell! It was the best decision I made, since it not only prepared me more for the experience of labor and delivery, it prepared my mom and best friend in such a way that they felt confident and comfortable stepping in to help during labor. Stacie's class gave my mom confidence to be a huge source of physical and emotional support for me, knowing how to encourage me and when to stay quiet. Because of this class, my best friend also now knew what to expect and was able to document the birth and to run and get things as we needed them. The most helpful part of the class for me as a laboring mom was the visuals of dilation and the stages and phases of labor. Visualizing where I was and how far I had left to go kept me encouraged along the way, realizing the longest and perhaps hardest part of labor was "getting that cervix out of the way" and knowing that once that was done, my daughter was not far away. Partly because of Stacie's class, I can say the birth of my daughter was done naturally, and is a beautiful memory I will look back on my entire life.
