Please take a few minutes to read what happened to me and what I witnessed in the Icon last Tuesday night:
A girl was getting sick in the toilets of the Icon, a barmaid came in, I asked the barmaid to get some water. The barmaid walked out and came back with a manager. They proceeded to kick the girl who was getting sick out even though she was perfectly fine and washing her hands at this point. I stopped the manager and said "why are ye kicking her out she's fine" and the manager said that's what they do when someone gets sick. I said "there's plenty of reasons people can get sick, it doesn't mean she's drunk" this girl wasn't langers by any means! I said "is this how ye treat yer customers? Just kick them out? I ate something funny before coming here and I just threw up, doesn't mean I'm drunk" I was lying to make a point cuz I was sober. The next thing I know I'm being kicked out! I'm standing in the foyer area completely stunned because I'm being roared at by the bouncers and the rudest girl who kept referring to herself as the manager. They assumed I was drunk and could just roar at me and kick me out. But I wasn't drunk so I was explaining my case and all the while telling them how much of a joke this whole thing was. After going back and forth and being shouted at by these big pathetic men they realised I wasn't drunk and they said "okay we'll leave ye back in this time but don't let this happen again!" Me and my friend just looked at each other and walked straight out of the Icon for the last time. The fact these men thought I was arguing because I wanted to go back in just shows their stupid idiot mentality. I was arguing cuz they threw a young girl out on the street with nothing! When we got outside we found the girl sitting on a window surrounded by 3 drunk middle age men. We went up to her and asked the men to leave. They started to get aggressive but eventually left. The girls friends were inside, she hadn't her jacket or a penny. The Icon was so quiet it would have taken bouncers or staff two seconds to find her friends who could have left with her or gave her money for a taxi. We bought the girl food and let her come in the taxi with us dropping her first to make sure she got home okay. In this day and age when we hear every second day about young girls being murdered and raped we should be doing everything in our power to help avoid these situations, not possibly putting young girls IN these situations! As human beings we should have a moral responsibility to help people! If anything had happened to that girl the bouncers would have been partly to blame! From what I witnessed Tuesday the Icon bouncers are scumbags and don't actually give a shit about their customers. Their customers who pay THEIR wages! Me and my friend will never set foot in Smyths or the Icon again. read more
