I am staying at a different condo, but I went there for dinner. The waitstaff is wonderful. I had a delicious draft Pilsner brewed in Albuquerque. The Caesar salad was good: fresh lettuce and plenty of chicken, maybe a little too much salt. I would go back, because the burgers at the next table looked tempting. read more

I stayed here four nights. The service was very good. Everyone I talked to was polite and helpful. I had some difficulty here initially during my check-in, but that was more the fault of hotels.com that I booked the reservation through. Snakedance was pretty hands-off about this, extremely careful to tell me it wasn't their problem. It was between me and Hotels.com. Ok. The major disappointment I had here was the sauna / hot tub was not operating. Honestly that was one of the primary reasons we picked that spot, but sadly it wasn't functional and they had no ETA on when it would be fixed. The rooms are very cute. I love the decor. The space seemed clean, though the carpets and comforters less so. It's a ski / snowboard hotel with a lot of (wet) foot traffic, so that's somewhat to be expected. The location is excellent. You are quite close to the lifts. I like that they have ski / snowboard lockers on the ground floor so you don't have to lug your wet gear up to your room. Bonus! They have a little market where you can get food and such. They stay open until 8pm which is quite nice for grabbing some last-minute supplies / snacks for the evening. I made sure to re-up on the wine and cheez-its. You know, the Essentials. I would return... but only if I could confirm that the hot tub is actually working! read more

We are staying at the Snakedance because my Husband is a contractor working on a project currently in the ski valley. We are enjoying the 2 bed 2 full bath layout with full kitchen and living area. There is a fire place in one bed and living area. Two doors open up to two (non-usuable) balconies. One bedroom has operable windows for fresh air. We are located on the 3rd floor and it's very quiet. The kitchen has almost everything you need, minus a cutting board and sharp knives. The carpets and furniture is pretty beat up, but it's a ski lodge so I understand. They were ok with us bringing our older dog, too, which makes us very happy. Beds are twins that you can push together. They are comfortable and have plenty of covers. Pillows are not that great. The manager Ashley gave us toiletries at the front desk when we checked in, soap, shampoo and lotions. There is no parking at the condo, you must park down the way in a lot after unloading your stuff. We didn't mind it, just an FYI. read more

This place rocks! Fantastic views of the Sangre De Cristo mountains from every room (which are uh...literally NEXT to the building!) and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I stayed here for a month last summer with the German Summer School--and btw they're there every summer in June and July speaking deutsch and doing their thing, so look out for them if you visit during the summer months ;). The condos are spacious with large kitchens and most have 1-2 bedrooms and 1-2 bathrooms. Great for large groups, as there are several that have pullout beds in the couches along with 2 full-sized beds in each of the two bedrooms. Nice interior, with newish appliances and comfy furniture. I was lucky enough to get a room with a balcony :D. There is a cleaning staff. The restaurant and bar are downstairs if ya get hungry. I stayed here in the summer and it was freaking awesome, so I can only imagine how nice it must be in the winter. The ski lift is literally right next to the hotel and runs during the winter and the summer. Less than 10 bucks for a lift ticket and the best views of your life--a definite must when you're in the ski valley. Sauna + indoor hot tub, also a sand volleyball court outside next to the ski lift. Small convenience store in the building, but come prepared cause the selection is limited and on the pricey side. I strongly recommend staying here if you come to Taos Ski Valley! read more

I wish I had better things to say about Snakedance. It was supposed to be a great weekend that fulfilled our annual ski trip tradition - something my wife and I have had in place ever since we were engaged. Instead, it turned into a total nightmare due to the hotel staff and ownership. We were a bit skeptical when communication was lacking prior to the trip. But, we assumed that was the laid back mentality of a ski mountain. Our decision to stay at the resort was based on a few factors - ski-in, ski-out, shuttle to Santa Fe Airport, included lift tickets (supposedly for each night of stay). We arrived Friday night feeling great, but Saturday turned into a total nightmare. After a day of great skiing, I called to make sure I was set for a shuttle on Sunday, only to find out this was not available and I was too late...even though this was discussed just a few days earlier. What ensued later was surreal - my wife and I heading down to the front desk to come to a resolution on the shuttle, only to encounter a complete verbal assault by the owner/manager Roger - keep in mind, this was only in regards to a shuttle...it's not really that big of a deal. I totally understand confusion happens...I own a business, I get it...but this was out of the twilight zone. Roger appears to give Ike Turner a run for his money, and I was speechless after witnessing his outrage. Growing up in New Mexico, I was completely embarrassed and never thought the state's ski mountains would take on such a cold attitude. I can only think Sundance is in some financial distress - the fireplace was broken, the heater didn't work (so they gave us a space heater..really?). There were so many ways the problems could have been resolved, but the staff made it a point to ensure that we were "wrong" rather than finding a solution. As often as I travel, I've never encountered this kind of attitude. Overall, I'd say avoid this place at all costs...that hurts to say because Taos is by far my favorite ski mountain, but I just can't return. Confusion may happen, but the screaming tirade will keep me away for years to come. I can only hope the mountain's new ownership will resolve some of these issues. read more

Best accommodations in the valley. Grab your skis from the ski concierge, step out the door, and get on the lift. Hot tub is hotter than most, perfect for soaking after you shred your legs on the big lines on this mountain. There's a bar and a market in the building, but anything you could need is a short walk away. Live music at the bar in the St. Bernard is always a blast. Can't wait to get back to Taos, and I'll be staying at the Snake Dance every time. read more

**CALL BEFORE BOOKING TO CHECK ON CONSTRUCTION STATUS!!!** Snakedance is located right in the middle of the Taos Ski Valley resort complex, just steps away from a few (mediocre) restaurants; other condos; one coffee stand; and ski gift shops. Staff were wonderful- friendly and helpful. However, there's constant construction going on right next to the condos, so I woke up to drilling/electric saw/banging sounds every morning around 8. Not especially restful if you like to sleep in. Constant construction also meant several power outages, one that lasted several hours. Not sure if these were planned outages, but I did not receive notice about them ahead of time. The units vary in size, views, and comfort- for example, Rm. 310 has NO WINDOW. Rm. 314 looks directly into another condo unit. My one bedroom came with a kitchen equipped with all kinds of appliances (dishwasher, microwave, fridge, conventional oven, mixer, coffee maker, toaster, blender) in addition to pots/pans/plates/silverware/etc. Gas stove with one working burner. DirectTV on two TVs (one in living room, one in bedroom). Everything looked clean and fairly new. My unit also came with a stereo sound system + various burned CDs, but other rooms did not have this. There was also a small selection of family-friendly DVDs + paperbacks for most ages. Housekeeping comes by once a day to ask if you need fresh towels or trash bags; they change bed linens + vacuum once a week. I think you can pay more if you want this service more often. Plenty of extra blankets in the closet. Noise from neighboring rooms was minimal, even w/their TVs on, but hallway noises (talking + slamming doors) can get loud. Also, in the summer, there are several camps that rent space here, so you may be around lots of campers. Free Wi-Fi, but it can be slow/spotty when all the campers are on YouTube. Snakedance has a tiny convenience store that is stocked with liquor, chips, candy, ramen + a few pieces of fruit. Overall, the facility is lovely, but I wouldn't pay $100/night to listen to construction noises all day. Also, the food available is overpriced and not special; I suggest getting sandwich supplies at a grocery store, and making the drive into Taos for dinners. 20 min drive to Arroyo Seco (tiny town with fabulous Taos Cow ice cream + pottery shops); 30 min drive to Taos itself. Watch out for the speed trap near the Amizette Inn; I often saw a cop parked there. read more

For those of you who might be considering this condo hotel the only thing it has going for it is the location, the rooms are quite dated, oh and the on site cafe serves hospital food ! The units have kitchens, but if you intend to use it purchase staples down in Taos as the convenience store located in the hotel has poor selections and sky high prices .There are much better hotels that will save you $ in Taos, and the yelp reviews of the restaurants are spot on . read more

Our condo on the 4th floor was large, beautiful, had a well furnished kitchen and TVs in every room. Floors had radiant heating. The staff was amazing- helpful and very friendly. I was with a large ski group and the owner Roger had us all over to his home for a fabulous dinner with appetizers, drinks and desert! Snakedance is right next to the ski lifts so it was SO convenient. So nice that they store your skis so you don't have to take them upstairs-plus they heat your boats while in storage. Nice. The Hondo restaurant within Snakedance was a great place to get drinks and outstanding food. Loved everything about staying here! I will visit again! read more

Good location next to the lift. The "king size bed" was in fact two twin mattresses put together. One mattress in the guest bedroom had a hole in the mattress. The common area rooms, the breakfast room and bar are very dated. Our waitress at breakfast was surly, we waited 45 minutes for bacon and eggs. The room rate was reasonable, however, by the time the resort and cleaning fees were tacked on, no great value. I would never go back. There are better places to stay at Taos. read more

Beautiful spot but horrible experience. We werent told that the entire place is a construction zone when we booked our room and that our room would look out onto cranes, wrecking balls and construction equipment. The noise started at 630 AM so there was no opportunity for a restful holiday like we had planned. To make matters worse, the light from the site is on until 11pm at night and shines into the rooms even with blinds drawn. We stayed for 5 nights which entitles you to maid service, which never happened. To make matters even worse, the staff mops the common area which is the only way to exit the elevator and hotel with the most toxic, noxious smelling cleaner...all day long! This is the first thing you smell as you get out of the elevator in the morning...we will never stay here again. read more

ABSOLUTE BEST INN IN THE TAOS SKI VALLEY! I'm from Florida, staying here for a week. Absolutely everything about my stay here has been fantastic! Cheapest rates for what you're getting. I mean you're literally 30 feet away from the main chairlift! My condo has two rooms with king sized beds, both with TVs, and a pull out couch in the living room! Snakedance has absolutely phenomenal rooms and staff. Whether it's the front desk staff, the common goods-store staff, the ski locker staff, or the hondo bar restaurant staff, they were ALL extremely nice and hospitable!! I have friends staying at the Edelweiss lodge, and I visited them one night, and it was an all-around horrid experience. The wait staff and bartender were all extremely rude.... the bartender threatened to call the cops because I was drinking my own alcohol instead of buying from the bar, and I wasn't even seated at the bar, let alone the lobby!! I WAS IN THE GAME ROOM! I was supremely confused at how two inns less than 20 yards away from each other, could be so drastically different. All in all, Snakedance deserves your business. read more
