Great location for Snap Fitness. I like using these when I'm in the road because my health insurance gives me a great deal on memberships and they're usually convenient to get to. Decent parking on King Street all around. But you do have to pay (about $3ish for 2 hours). There are not a lot of free barbells to move but there is a Smith Machine. There is a C2 Rower and plenty of other cardio machines. TVs all work and there is free wifi. Nice and clean! Thanks for the convenience. read more

Nice little gym to get in a workout while in town visiting family. 24/7 for members. Daily rate of $20 but go for the weekly at $35 for better value if here multiple days. Clean, just right amount of equipment, weights, treadmills, nothing broken, organized, bathrooms but no locker rooms. Does it have all the equipment and machines of the larger big name gym chains? No, but it's a good spot to stay fit and in shape, and for someone like myself to burn off some calories while keeping up with my workouts while visiting family. Suited my needs while here on a short vacation perfectly. Almost empty at 10am on a Friday and Saturday morning. Free wifi too which is nice. Full time members get a pass key to allow access at all hours. Daily and weekly visitors only have access when a staff member is working the desk, so make sure to check the schedule on the front door. Sunday only full time members have access as no staff is on duty. I guess Sunday will be my day to go run a 5K outside. read more

No-frills, neighborhood gym. Far from fully equipped, but more than adequate for the non-elite athlete looking to get in a workout. The place is small. Think a hyped-up version of the type of the amenity gym you'd find in the average luxury building in the city. No showers, no lockers, and limited equipment designed to maximize the space. The equipment-- Cardio: - half dozen treadmills - half dozen ellipticals - a couple of stationary bikes Weights: - Dumbbells (5 - 100 lbs), with 3 or 4 different types of benches - Smith machine - Squat machine - Preacher bench Resistance machines: - dual cable functional trainer, with pull-up station - about a dozen various machines targeting legs, back, chest, shoulders, arms, and core Knick knacks: - resistance bands - core balls - trx band - light medicine balls - 1 kettlebell (25 lbs, I think) ***If this place had a bench press station, a power rack, and a complete set of kettlebells, I'd be set.*** The staff is friendly and professional. And the 24-hour thing is great. (They have security cameras and emergency buttons throughout the building for safety.) I'm an early riser, so usually get my workout in before 6. But I've visited at all hours of the day and, despite the small size, I've never found the spot completely crowded. There is limited floor space, so when 3 or more people are doing mat exercises at the same time, it can be hard to get around. The main reason I chose this gym is the price; it's super cheap for the area. Some people go with a workout buddy, some are chatty Cathys, and some are like me and want to be left alone, work up a sweat, get in and get out. If you're like me, Snap Fitness is for you. My favorite thing about Snap is that it's 24 hours (not that I ever get the urge to hit the gym at 12 at night, but hey, it's a nice option). Because it's open all the time, it never gets too crowded. Nothing is worse than a crowded gym! It's a smaller Snap, located on King Street in a narrow building, but it has everything from treadmills and bikes to free weights and weight machines. All the equipment is pretty new and in good shape. No locker rooms, but there are bathrooms to change in. The staff is friendly and there are personal trainers available. I have heard that it's better to avoid the 7-8pm time period on weekdays. I usually go for an hour or so starting at 530, and except for Mondays (people are trying to work off the gluttony from the weekend!), it's never very crowded. This gym just has the basics...no classes, no saunas, no pools. But on the upside, it's cheaper than a lot of places that have those amenities. For a joint monthly pass, it's $80, or $40 per person, and for a single monthly pass it's $50. Not too shabby! read more

It's missing a lot of things that people might consider essential. That said, if this Snap location DOES have the things you want, it's a very nice place. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The clientele is respectful. The facilities are the cleanest I've ever seen. And finally, there's rarely ever a crowd (except for around 6pm-8pm or so). If you're just looking for a treadmill, some free weights, or other basic gym things, this Snap Fitness might be a very good option for you. There were about 10 people there and with several in the free weights area, it quickly got crowded. Price is about $75 a month. No music, no classes and no frills. I have had a fantastic experience so far. I joined Snap Fitness about a month ago, to use the gym but also gain a personal trainer. Chase, who I believe is the owner, has been on point, extremely responsive and helpful. He recommended Victoria, my personal trainer, to me. I expressed my concerns since I had gained some weight and I was a bit nervous about trying to work out again, and they both were super supportive. Victoria continues to assist me in working through my weak zones and she knows when to step in. I also like this gym because it is basic, to the point, and no frills. The machines are all in good working order, it never gets overly crowded, and they have wifi (sounds like a weird positive, but I love my pandora!) Parking is street parking - there is normally free parking along the side streets off King Street. I've been working out here for close to two years now. The gym may be small but it has all the equipment you need and it's never too crowded, even at the most popular time - right after work! It's a mediocre at best place. It is clean, so I'll give it that. However, equipment is VERY limited--think a Smith rack and NO FREE WEIGHTS. Also, it gets very crowded--I am particularly not looking forward to the beginning of the year. This is the perfect gym for those who live nearby (as I do) and just want a convenient place to get a good workout. No frills, but it has all the essentials I want with basic cardio, weights, and machines. Wish there was more room to do stretches and sit ups - that's my only complaint - but everyone at they gym seems nice and courteous and we make it work. It's old town, anyway, so we're used to not having a ton of space! As others have commented, there are no showers. This gym is very clean, the equipment is well-maintained and new-looking. They have wi-fi, TVs in the machines, and cable TVs around to entertain you while you work out. My fiancee and I really enjoy going to the gym together at Snap Fitness, which is *BONUS* open 24 hours a day! We stop by a few times a week, and the staff are super friendly and responsive to any questions or suggestions. They keep the disinfectant wipes well-stocked but there is no towel service, so bring your own if you use those during workouts. I watch my HGTV shows while on the treadmill with the fan (option) keeping me cool, and my fiancee uses the wi-fi on his mobile phone to stream his music while on the rowing machine. I would be very wary of joining Snap Fitness Alexandria and would practice extreme caution before signing any contracts with this gym. I first joined this gym because I was looking for a place that was conveniently located with treadmills and weights. Snap had the essentials, and was always very clean. I enjoyed the 24 hour access as well. Although, I found that in the winter time and during peak hours, the gym would become incredibly crowded and on many occasions I would have to wait for a treadmill to open up, as well as different weight machines. There was no where to do ab workouts either and although they do provide mats, there was often no where to put them. With all of these inconveniences, I decided that this gym was not worth the monthly charge so I went in and canceled my membership. Or so I thought. I spoke to the front desk manager about how I wanted to cancel, and she recommended that I take a three month grace period so that if for some reason I decided to join again after 3 months, I wouldn't have to pay another initiation fee. I thought that would be a good idea, and took the advice. 3 months later I started getting charged again for the gym and when I called to talk to someone about getting refunded, I was met with extreme opposition and hostility from the management. I was very disappointed for the lack of professionalism from both the front desk manager as well as the owner of Snap Fitness Alexandria. I was told I would not be given a refund, and if I wanted to cancel from that point on I had to provide written notice (which I was not told initially). I then provided written notice, and was still charged for two months after this. I eventually had to cancel my own personal credit card that Snap was using to charge fees to. Now there is nothing I can do about this lost money except to make other people aware of the problems associated with this gym. read more

I have been a member of Snap Fitness from the day it opened several years ago, and it is by far my favorite gym, in a lifetime of gym memberships. The staff is terrific, and always open to reasonable suggestions to make it better. You will not likely find a cleaner gym, since it's kept spotless, and thoroughly cleaned every day. Convenience aside, since it is a 24-hour keycard gym, the equipment is in very good shape, and the staff is always adding new items, from a TRX to new weights. Despite the size, you never really have to wait long for equipment on busy days, even in winter. Since a lot of us live very close to the gym, the regulars are invested in making the small space work for everyone, and there is certainly far more courtesy about cleaning off equipment than you find in most big gyms. The gym also has a few exceptional personal trainers who are very generous with their time and attention, even when you're not a client! Since Snap is small, it doesn't have showers, but that doesn't seem to be an issue for this neighborhood gym. All in all, it's a great place, and extremely well run. This place deserves a 10+. read more

I know gyms are notorious for screwing you out of money, but Snap Fitness is one of the worst I have ever encountered. I'm sure it is not the fault of this particular location but of the entity as a whole. Signed up for a 30-day trial, the location was not for me so I canceled within the agreed terms to avoid any charges. This month is the second month I have been charged for a full membership and the second month I had to request a reimbursement. Same thing is happening to a friend of mine. All I can say if you choose this place is keep a watchful eye on your bank account. read more

I read the harsh comments and think they are unfair. When you walk through the facility, you can see what they have to offer so why complain after the fact. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that there were some times that the place was not perfect.
