They really care about the WHOLE person, not just the packaging..... and I love this!! The last thing I want to add is that Cheryl, the owner, cares - about everyone. They will notice that you are new and help you get set up for class, and all the instructors make working out feel fun and inclusive. Regardless of your fitness level, you will fit in and feel welcome. The owner, Cheryl, cares about each member and takes the time to learn everyone's name- plus she's funny and entertaining to take class from, she helps you forget the pain of the workout (at least a little bit)! The only downside I can say is that it can feel a bit pricey if you're comparing to a monthly gym membership, but if you work out the per class cost it is really reasonable and definitely worth the extra money. Paying in advance for registered classes is great motivation to keep going to class, something I always struggled with when I had monthly memberships. Definitely check it out, especially if you are just getting started or getting back on track with your fitness/exercise journey- you won't regret it!

I believe this is the best location compare to all locations that I have seen in Edmonton and Calgary. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Even if it's busy, it has a lot of things and you don't need to wait for anything. The equipments are new and awesome and they have some machines that I haven't seen them in other locations. The change room and bathrooms were very clean. This location is my number one location!

Was my first time at this location…read more Was working out with a buddy(who happens to have his personal training certificate) and was confronted by the so-called "Personal Training Manager" who asked my friend if he was a personal trainer, to which he replied "yes", then the manager stated we could not work out there, as he assumed my friend was training me, however this was not the case. This ordeal wouldn't have been an issue, if the manager had a little bit more tact and politeness about how he confronted this situation, however it was a let down, and he made us feel like we were unwelcome there. The manager seemed very sarcastic, not very direct and/or clear when answering us in regards to if we could continue to workout together. Overall, this put a damper on our workout session, and we felt we were being constantly watched by this manager. Needless to say, I will probably not workout at this location again...

When my "larger" brother went in (after I recommend the place and even used my name) and signed up for the exact same package as me, he's now paying $60 a month. Aside from that there facility is huge, wide variety of machines and a "Women's only" area if we ladies are uncomfortable exercising infront of men.

It's got lane swimming and a deep end for diving and fooling around. You access it by the Universal change room annex. If people identifing as ladies want to change in the separate locker room on the East sideof the building, one has to keep their access card in hand and run across the main hallway, re-swipe the card and walk through a unisex change room into the pool area. I decided to just use the "no nudie pants" Universal locker room. However, after I shower to go home, I will trek across the hall to put my makeup on in the ladies only dressing room. As I've been told by my male friends, they really hate it when ladies use the mirrors in the Universal room. It's too close to the bathroom stalls where we might hear them pee. Wah!! We don't like listening to you pee either. I went into the gym twice. It's pretty nice. Now that classes on campus have resumed, you can't get a machine. They are swamped. Long lines and crowding. Not for me. The only reason I stay in this facilty is because my membership fee is waved because I'm the spouse of faculty. Otherwise, I'd go back to the Kinsman.

They offer a range of memberships and classes/exercises not usually seen in other gyms/workout studios, like the multitude of arrangements and heights for bars, rings, and ropes. For those looking to try it out, I'd suggest the kickstart program - a 4 week program (12x one-hour sessions) that goes over every movement they offer and how to progress from whatever level you're starting at, which means ALL levels are welcome! A drop-in/punch pass is also a great place to start if you're wanting to check it out and get a feel for the space and instructors :) Remember to bring a water bottle and SMILE!!

The Coaches - Each and every coach, from the 4 owners to the new Level 1 coaches, are very knowledgeable. Whether it's your first time at a crossfit gym or your an elite competitor, they will give you tips on how to improve. EVERYONE gets some 1 on 1 instruction from a coach throughout the class (often there are 2 coaches). If you are struggling with something, they will put the extra time and effort into either give you new verbal cues, demonstrate a lift, show video clips, or researh new ideas - trust me, there's no movement you can't conquer! I have found that many coaches at other gyms either don't care about helping you improve and would rather chat with their buddies, or they just don't know how to help you.These coaches LOVE crossfit, and it shows. The Gym - The gym is bigger and better after they moved one door down - a larger space, new rig, extra weights, and new toys (ie axle bars, tires, atlas stones, punching bag, you name it). Plenty of space for the class, plus personal training, plus athletes doing their own workouts. Sometimes the workout is in the back parking lot, and there's a good running loop with minimal traffic. The Schedule - Armoury has the BEST schedule out of all crossfit gyms. They are pretty well open 6am-10pm, and are even open for a few hours (not just 1 or 2 classes like most gyms) on Saturday AND Sunday. The WODS - The workouts are programmed weekly by one of the coaches (regional competitor). There is always a new focus but the workouts are always unique. I have found that many gyms stick to the basics and it seems you're doing a similar wod every week, but Armoury is very good at throwing in new movements and pushing your limits! There is always a strength portion and a wod, plus extra credit if you must! And of course there are always tons of scaling options - technique comes first, and you only push yourself as hard as you want to. The Atmosphere - Everyone at the gym is very friendly, male and females, age ranges from late teens to senior. Come for a workout a couple times a week, or become a regular and get competitive - they've got the tools and resources to send people to regionals if you so desire!

One thing that is great about it is that if you're into cardio (like me) you will never have an issue finding a cardio machine because everyone there weight lifts. It's also never too busy so that is a plus, especially during this time. In terms of COVID safety, I think they're doing well. Masks and sanitizer everywhere as well as barriers between all the machines. I feel safe enough.
