This is a meathead gym. And if you are into lifting, checking yourself in the mirror and grunting…read moreat the top of your lungs, this is the place for you. Guys do help each other, but the "smoothie" bar only really caters to the lifters and have too much sugar and not enough balance for the average Joe. If you are a girl though, and not a lifter, be prepared to not be treated as nicely. I got leered at several times and one guy hit on me and was angry when I showed him my ring and told him I was just there to work out. After that, every time I'd encounter him, he'd state loudly that it wasn't okay to call women "sweetie" and hit on them anymore. Here's a clue buddy, we go to the gym to work out too and want to do so in a nice atmosphere free of creeps. Most of the guys aren't like that but there are a few guys who will just sit and stare at the pretty girls while they work out. The locker rooms are really tiny, and in poor shape. One of the girls showers barely worked at all, and the other you had to really play with the faucet to keep it from shearing off your skin when you showered. There was no sign in the women's locker room stating that if you left your stuff in a locker (with a lock on it) they would cut the lock off and donate your things to charity. I had an emergency where I had to leave it for a few days and they took a brand new backpack, new shoes, a weight belt and cuffs, some headphones and my workout clothes and donated them to charity. My business card was in the front ID holder but no one called they just gave away about $120 in gear with no real apology except from the really nice girl at the front desk. There is a sign now, but you have to respect your paying customers and the owner really doesn't. He only respects the lifter. The lifting equipment is in fair shape, but the cardio equipment is sparse and run down. A lot of the tethers and bolts are rusty and frayed and the handles of some of the stuff is broken down a bit. One of the treadmills (which there are only 6) was out for more than a week and a lot of the stuff is years and years old despite them taking a hefty fee every year. So if you are a lifter, and are really into body building, I'm sure this is a good place to go to get advice, help and good bro time. But if you are a girl, you may have better luck in a more female friendly gym. And never ever leave anything in a locker, locked or not...

So happy to be here for a couple of months. First, they are very accommodating to your needs. Since I am a short-timer, my payments and sign-on is different than most. Not a problem at all. Jennifer is so nice and welcoming. I have actually had nothing but great experiences will all the trainers. I wish I had more time here! I have found all levels and abilities in the classes. Makes it better for people like me who are just getting into it or back at it. The box area itself is great. The layout is awesome and plenty of room. Love the music played and WODs have been kicking my arse (LOVE!). Great location too. Just minutes away from the YMCA and centrally located in Kenosha. Great for a drop-in or sign up and try it for four months! You get a week to try it out and see if you like it before you commit fully. I highly recommend you do this. Another tip, bring gloves and a belt. You never know when you will need them. There are also kids classes which look really cool. Check the website for more information or call.

This is a phenomenal CrossFit gym. At least in my opinion. I value fitness, a welcoming community,…read morelifelong learning, competent and professional coaching staff and management. Oh, and good equipment and facilities. CrossFit Kenosha has all of these in abundance. On top of that, the members are friendly and motivating, the music usually pretty good (as far as CrossFit music goes), schedules very accessible, and the rates are very reasonable. I also think the lighting is very good. Some gyms have those awful fluorescent lights which give me a headache. But this gym has something else, which -- no joke -- makes everyone look more attractive and yet does not contribute to my migraines. Too good to be true? Well, there are things they could work on. I can't think of more than one right now. Which is that they don't have a place to refill your water bottle, aside from a bathroom sink. But if that's the worst thing about this place... For some perspective, I've been doing Xrossfit since 2013 and have worked out all over the country.

I started yoga 9 years ago, and have been going to Yogarithm for 5 years. There are different types…read moreof classes--including beginner, flow, core and a detox class held on weekends. Melissa also offers a lot of variety of retreats. There are tie-die classes where you tie-die a yoga tee after class. I've been to yoga on the beach at Kenosha (loved it!), there have been musicians who come to play during class, yoga at the art museum, at the holidays you could choose to get a meditation bead at every class and then make a bracelet at the end of the holidays. Gosh--some classes have aromatherapy. Weekends offer a rise 'n rock class where you blast out of your rut with songs from Metallica, Pink Floyd, Women of the 80s, the Beatles. It's a class I can't miss, to be honest. In the past 5 years I've torn my meniscus from falling off a water park slide, broken my left toe, sprained an ankle--and every time I get an injury I come back to yoga to get back recover. This class keeps me flexible, gives me some pretty impressive strength (which supporting your own body weight can do!) and helps me mellow out after a rough week. The few times I've had to go without yoga for a few weeks I find I am stiffer, my hip and back hurt more, my knee aches constantly (from the torn meniscus) and the aches of sitting at a desk all day come crashing in on me. If you're new to yoga, this might be a great class to check out. It's friendly, there are loaner mats you can get, classes vary and you can find one just your speed, there are classes in the day, evenings and on weekends, and as mention by another poster--Aveda tea. Melissa isn't afraid to try something new--the last few months she's had a foam roller class that is challenging and effective. Something new is always being added.Angela, another yoga instructor, brings a very mindful and meditative approach to her classes, which makes it a must-go for me when I need to stretch, build some muscle and then chill the f-out! Ah--forgot to also mention that Melissa offers private instruction, so if you're feeling a bit shy, or have particular issues you want to work on, then you can take a one-on-one class or get together a few of your friends.

Melissa was my first Yoga instructor and she has been hands down the best. I started going to…read moreYogarithm back when I was attending college in Kenosha (2010). I was hesitant at first, as I did not know how I would like it. The first time I came into this studio (in the basement level of a salon), they had Aveda licorice mint tea hot and ready. The tea is delish, and automatically warmed and relaxed you. Melissa's style is inviting, but challenges you. You will never have the same sequence twice, she always mixes her routines up- which I love as every day after, I would be sore! Since graduating, I had to leave Yogarithm. I now live in Chicago and have been to many studios in the north side and the South loop, no other instructor can even come close to Melissa. Big plus: the price is very reasonable (get monthly unlimited!) a quarter of what I pay in the city. The instructor listens to her students, provides a variety, and is very pleasant! I still get her newsletter and Yogarithm always has something new and fun going on (come on Yoga and Live Music.)..! Hands down best studio I've been to! I wish I lived in Kenosha again...
