We usually always make an appointment but we've walked in a few times just fine as well. He is always able to make an accommodation for us. He makes polite chit chat with my son and husband when they go. Sometimes the cut takes a while, but that isn't anything to complain about because we are always floored with his precision. He's even given my husband tips about getting a smoother bald shave. Even when my son had the more higher maintenance cut of a high top, he always got all of the edges so trim, tight and proper. We also tried a completely new Mohawk style on my him which he was nervous about, but it came out so awesome and handsome thanks to the skilled hands of JT. We were truly appreciative of JT for helping us find a new haircut that made my son feel so confident and handsome! To say we love the results is an understatement. It's also worth noting that when we felt a haircut could be been changed a little (higher fade, a design), JT is always flexible and helps us make tiny changes. The haircuts I saw looked on point, fresh fades...all of it. Then I waited. For an hour and a half. No further acknowledgement. The clientele turned over three times. No doubt I was expecting to wait on a Saturday, but for an hour and a half without any sign that the staff knew I was there...I didn't expect that. If you were booked up, say so. If you didn't have an opening for two hours...tell me...I'll go grab lunch. Is business so good that you don't need another paying customer? The one that you let walk out without any acknowledgement was looking for a regular barber, tips good and pays cash. If I could give zero stars for customer service I would.

It's the best type of haircut you can receive b/c you are not leaving there unless your hair is cut the way you want it. He hooked me up with a nice bald fade and hard tapered part. It's a pretty standard cut but I have had plenty barbers mess it up in the past. If you're looking for a cut during these stressful times, I urge you to link up with Rachaan. He will get you a time to come in and make sure you're coming to the right location. He texted me minutes after I booked and let me know of the new location. She's one of few Master Barbers locally, and being Dominican from New York she has that NYC flare and touch. The vibe is welcoming and almost like family. Shop and her tools stay clean, as she maintains her area after each cut. She uses the warm shaving cream, a straight razor and a hot towel to add that fresh cut feel. She is awesome and would recommend to anyone! If you're new to the area or even if you've been here a while and need a new barber look no further.

Once the barber shop was forced to move further down Park Avenue, we took my son to a different shop, one in Evans made specifically for children. They did a good job as well, but we were still pretty fond of City Barber Shop. We just recently took him to the new shop, and were very pleased! The shop is very up-to-date as far as the decorating, and Mark did a great job with my son. He let him play with toys while cutting his hair, and made sure my son was happy while getting his hair cut. We will continue to go to this shop to get my son's hair cuts from now on!
