Can she just follow me around and take pics of me everyday? The girl works magic. I originally sought out Crystal because she is a founding member and photography editor for the Fair Event Vendors Alliance, which connects the LGBTQ community with Louisville and Southern Indiana area wedding and event professionals and champions their equality and fair treatment. While I'm not LGBTQ, this is still very important to me. I'm so happy this is important to Crystal too. A friend of mine also recommended her and said that she is sensitive to making sure photos are all natural and flattering. Sounds like I would be in good hands. We met in person to talk about the wedding shortly after I reached out, and I felt comfortable with her almost immediately. She was also easily reachable and quick to respond when I had questions. And then the big day came. Crystal first met us at the salon and was with us for 10 hours that day. I felt like she always had control of the situation -- especially when posing us all for photos -- but she also did not take over the entire scene, as I have seen other photographers do at weddings. She was working hard the entire time and always professional. And like my friend said, she took photos that were very flattering. I told her my arms are not my fave feature, and she helped me pose and stand so they were minimized. Other faves about working with Crystal: * Her prices were very reasonable, which I can confirm after talking to friends and seeing what they spent on pics. * She delivered the photos about two months after the wedding, which seems to be standard. And we got ALL of the pics. Plus we get to download them and use them as we see fit (giving her credit on social media, of course). * And just to reiterate, we had her for 10 hours at three different locations. And her pics! Again, they turned out so well. Both the posed and action shots were beautiful. Looking through them, I feel like she got all the important parts of the wedding -- and then some. I missed seeing some of my friends' moves on the dance floor. Now they are committed to history, thanks to Crystal. The venue also looked stunning in her photos. After stressing so much about the decorations, I admit I didn't get to take it in as much as I would have liked on the actual day. Now I get to see and truly appreciate how beautiful it was. Luckily the hair & makeup was in the good hands of Jacquelyn's Salon (http://www.yelp.com/biz/jacquelyns-salon-and-spa-louisville), but how was I going to pick a photographer - Help me Yelp!!! First, I read reviews and really combed the Yelpers pictures. Studio E had a strong presence and I liked what I saw. Next I took to the Wild Wild Web, to see which photographers had a good web presence and what I found was amazing. To me, your website is like walking into your studio. It should be well organized, up to date and "clean" (no misspelled words, etc.). It should not be full of stylish pictures of you and your family, it should not have last year's dates and why is that family standing in front of a house? Art is one thing, wacky is another....does every picture have to been totally off center? I know, back to my mission and I'm looking for professional head shots and once again, Studio E Photography's website scored 5 stars. Wow, they even had their pricing structure clearly stated and easy to find. The pictures on it was stylish and gorgeous. And hey! I remember see that bridal picture on Google images when I was researching my Gillespie review! Michelle called me back in a timely manner and we made an appointment for an outside photo shoot. The day of the shoot, it was raining, and she called and offered to move it. But I already had the whole hair and makeup appointments set up, so we did the inside shoot. It took about 45 minutes. I could not be a model. I don't have the patience and do not take direction very well. And there is the whole, "stand this way" and "put your chin that way"....but Michelle was super patient with this photo novice and let me comb through pictures and change blazer to sweater to blazer. No to the blue blazer that made my hair look like bozo orange. She was casual and easy to talk to. Her whole demeanor puts you at ease and the studio is a cozy little office off of Hurstborne with the beautiful portraits lining the stairs on the way up. I felt very zen in her sitting room as we looked through other head shots. The pictures were ready the next day and she Dropbox'ed them to me. They were great! I've gotten so many compliments on them and they are plastered over all of my social networks and resume sites. She sized them perfectly for uploading. This helped seal my resume package and gave me the confidence to go after those Senior level jobs that I have the experience for! I explained my financial situation and was completely ok with paying off the amount in small increments, but they told me I had to pay the $750 fee before I could even start a payment plan. They seem to only want to cater to a certain financial demographic. I went to an equally high end photographer who was willing to work with my financial situation more than these people were.
