The prices were also extremely reasonable, which is always a huge plus when thrift shopping! One thing to be aware of is that they are cash-only. There is an ATM inside the store, which is convenient, although I wish the employee had mentioned that when I asked if they only accepted cash. He spent well over an hour with me, patiently walking through countless combinations of styles, shapes, and colors -- not rushing, not upselling, just exploring what really worked. He was thoughtful, kind, and extraordinarily knowledgeable, and it was clear he genuinely enjoyed the process of helping me find the right hat. That enthusiasm was contagious; time absolutely flew by. I left with a beautiful hat and a matching scarf, each with its own story -- down to where the wool came from and how it was made. That level of care and passion isn't something you can fake. It's obvious that Jessen and Andria care deeply about their craft, their customers, and the experience they create in the shop. This was, without question, the best experience I've ever had in a hat store. The selection is fantastic, but it's the heart, expertise, and hospitality that make Salmagundi truly special. People are only hired here to be paid and walk out, and management has no problem with it either as they don't show any effort to fix the professionalism while they act the same way towards their own employees and customers.
