Two of their CPAs (Bill M. and Neil T. ) did my returns over the course of two years and both of them botched the accounting. I hired them to do two years of tax returns for my mother and I and in each case I ended up paying fines and added interest. The most egregious error came when Neil totally ignored 1099 dividends, which I had emailed him for my return. The emails clearly prove they received the 1099s. He never bothered to scroll down to the end of the email. Hence he left out several reportable dividends from the return which ultimately cost me a HEFTY IRS PENALTY and INTEREST. When I approached the firm about this ( Ava R. ) several months ago, I was given the run around. Ava actually told me to wait on paying the IRS until the amount was contested. Even I know you pay first and ask questions later when the IRS is involved. Otherwise, you risk more interest. Ava and Neil told me at one point that it was my responsibility to pick up the omission in the return. Really? I am am not trained in IRS tax code laws which is why I hired them. At the very least, I should have the expectation to have all 1099s included in a tax return. In fact, I most certainly tried to review the return with Neil on the phone before it was submitted, but he rushed and yessed me assuring me all the 1099s had been included. The best part of this experience is that David Hirsch had finally taken my call and promised he would write to the IRS to have the penalty removed. What is even more remarkable is that I later came to know he made the request to remove the penalty from the wrong return. (my mom's return, not mine! ) Once again, David and his firm weren't paying attention. How is this company in business!
