If you're looking for an entry slope, Snow Valley could be it. We visited for the first time in years and were pleasantly surprised by the small crowd. It's a smaller venue for skiing with 20 generally short slopes ranging from green to blacks, plus a tubing terrain. The chalet is small with a good number of attendees at the ticket booth, equipment shop and 2nd floor restaurant that serves up basic meal bites with a weeknight deal. Tickets are checked manually at the lifts. Many blue & black slopes themselves are relatively narrow with a few runs that are frequented into soft chopped snow. One of the hills was cordoned off for downhill racing while other slopes had minimal skiers & snowboarders heading down beside us. The lifts moved at a brisk pace although there is a triple-lift with tight seating and a tight off-ramp that was more suited for doubles to avoid tripping. The level of difficulty on the black diamond slopes was low. There is also a freestyle terrain park with jumps on the east side beside the tubing terrain, and a patch of mogul bumps on a west side slope. Overall the resort is oriented towards beginners as a short 1 hr GTA drive near Barrie. Skip it or hit it? On the one hand I was intrigued by the short narrow slopes, on the other there are more challenging and better ski facilities a little further away. Not sure how often we'd come back. read more

It's been a while since I visited this place. I showed up during the coldest day in January 2026 which was absolute powder. I went in to redeem a 2 for 1 ticket from the ski and snowboard show a few months back. What's nice to see is the conveyor belt with their main base lift which moves the crowds fast. It's been a long time since I tried the other chair lifts and I hardly remember how fast they have the speed set here so you have minimal wait time- not that I had any competition because there were only 30 or so other patrons. The sad part about this place is the food- they used to have a burger made from scratch- not anymore so the patties seem to be just vanilla. The chalet / restaurant is cute log style with fire place so if you're abandoning any family it's a bit tolerable. read more

Been coming to Snow Valley for 3 years with my family. It's a great beginner and learning hill. Staff if friendly and always approachable and accomodating. As a middle aged woman trying to learn skiing for the first time, there was never any shame just helpfulness. There is a really great sense of safety here. You'll see ski patrol every where, getting on lifts is typically supervised and they will close hills if they haven't groomed or is not safe 2 chalets, one is more self serve but has everything you need at the bottom of the hill. In the main building is a cafeteria style, basic eats like burgers hot dogs and fries but prices are decent. There is a restaurant as well, but service I find sometimes slow. If you're looking for lessons for your kids, I fulls recommend coming here as your starting point. read more

It's not far off from where we live and the staffs here are very friendly, they have different lift ticket purchase options to best accommodate to your schedule. You can choose to stay for 4 hours, 6 hours, night skiing/boarding. Their rental staff members, lift operators are all super nice! It was my first time getting fitted as I normally have my own gear, and they were super friendly. Getting down the lift has always been a fear of mine - I do not know why - but the lift operator was THE BEST HYPE WOMAN! Each time she was there, I GOT OFF THE LIFT LIKE A PRO! read more

Visited On: March 14, 2020 Ordered: -Never Ever Day Package ($28.25) Thoughts: Never Ever Days is a beginners ski/snowboarding package, providing equipment rental, beginner lift ticket and a lesson for $25 plus tax. It is offered across Canada, with Snow Valley Ski Resort being one of the few resorts participating within Ontario. My family and I have never been skiing, so took this opportunity to try it out. There's plenty of free parking available, and the interior is not too small. The rentals are located on the main level and they have a cafeteria with a cozy fireplace and some areas for seating upstairs. The check-in process was very simple, we just had to fill out a form and wait in a common area for our instructors. Once the instructors came, they led all groups to the rental area and told us to get boots, helmet and ski poles. Considering that this was a package for people who've "never" been skiing, they expected us to read the posted signs and figure out our boot sizes. It was very squishy to move around and there was limited seating. We assumed helmets were different sizes, but later discovered that it could be adjusted in the back. It would have been much more helpful and saved us time if the staff explained it. Our group consisted of 11 people and there was 4 instructors, so you'd expect some assistance but that wasn't the case. Two of them looked like they were in high school, one looked like a young adult and last looked middle aged. The 2 eldest instructors were leading the group and they had given the 2 younger instructors the responsibility of helping people who were struggling. However, the younger kids seemed more interested in having fun and being at the front with the main instructor than helping out. I even heard one of them make a comment that they should be helping lead with the other instructor. My father had fallen down and at first the young instructors tried to demonstrate how to get up, but as this was my father's first time skiing and he's older, he struggled. Instead of helping him up, not one, but two instructors just left him to figure it out and moved away with the rest of the group. My sister and I saw this and had to go to help him, since the instructors were clearly so useless. The younger instructor was also very rude and impatient, and it was really sad to see him disrespect people who were genuinely trying to learn for their first time. The entire group didn't look like they were enjoying themselves, which was a shame because the weather was cooperating. My parents decided to sit the session out within the first bit, since they weren't getting much assistance. My sister and I couldn't wait for the session to be over. I overheard another group of friends tell each other they couldn't wait for it to be over as well. Snow Valley Resort is a nice place, but what's the point of having a nice place with shitty people? read more

I went on new years day, not many people at night. First time going there and i didn't expect the hills to be so icy, especially the bunny hill. The snow was still being blown too, you can see and feel it while on the lift. It's cool that they have a magic carpet for the chair lifts because it causes less accidents. The terrain park is pretty neat too. The chalet is so cozy. It is nicely decorated with christmas ornaments, antique skis, and they have fireplaces to warm your mitts! Thick wooden tables and walls give it a cabin feel. They have a large selection of food too: burger, fries, chilli cheese dogs, hot dog, poutine, soup, waffles, cookies, ice cream, apple turnovers, For me, a chilli cheese dog and hot chocolate was $7.75. The burger and fries combo was $9. Pretty decent food, some are served in biodegradable plates, which i appreciate. A cool thing is that they have fork, spoon, knife and napkin dispensers! A great idea because it avoids other people touching all the forks. I realized this place is really conscious about sanity. The washrooms has wipes in each stall to wipe the seat, and at the exit door, they have a mini napkin dispenser to use to open the door with! Solves many of my pet peeves. Snow wasn't great that day, but the chalet is welcoming and food choices are abundant. read more

Tried snow tubing today and rather than charging by hour they charge by amount of rides you take. The bf and I split a 10 ride pass which was around $45. They have multiple runs for tubing but the furthest ones are more steep which was alot of fun. You can also tube individually or as a group. The lines are okay but it can get crowded at times. Also the hills are supper windy and chilly so make sure you are all bundled up read more

Some fellow Yelpers and I ventured to Snow Valley this past weekend for some snow shoeing and tubing. Although there is downhill skiing, we chose something slightly less rigorous. The snow shoeing was $15 and we had our choice of three trails. The problem was, the snow was packed down on the trails, so really...we would have been better off to just walk around without the snow shoes. We did some 'off-roading' that was fun, but I think I would recommend heading there first thing in the a.m after a fresh snow to get the best out of the experience. The snow tubing was a blast, and the lovely staff gave us each a free voucher after our snow shoeing. It is normally $4 a ride, or $20 for 6 rides. You can also pay by the hour, but depending on the line (that is steady but slow), you'll get more bang for your buck paying per ride. It was a blast, probably the best snow tubing I've ever experience. Not that I've had THAT much experience. Afterwards we headed to the chalet, that was your typical chalet. I personally love this: predictable fries, hot chocolate, sub-par cleanliness, but a warm haven after a day of cold outdoor activities. I love it. Great place for a new skier and very concerned about customer service. My initial experience with them was horrid due to a boot malfunction. When they heard about it they were very eager to make it right. They're restaurant and eatery are nothing to write home about but it's an affordable ski experience, not a food experience. Staff is a lot of kids who do kid things sometimes like being impatient and cutting in line as one young instructor did to me on the bunny hill magic carpet lift but other than that it's a very nice family oriented place. read more

This place is great for beginners. There's a bunch of bunny hills and small easy hills. The pony bar takes a bit to get used to (as opposed to magic carpet or tbar) on the bunny hills though. The food prices here are fantastic and all of the staff were super. This place however will be boring for pros, go to blue Mountain if you want bigger more advanced runs. read more

The only other ski resorts I have been to are Dagmar, Lakeridge and Skyloft so my comparisons will be limited. In terms of overall spaciousness, I think Snow Valley feels like the biggest one out of the four. They have a dedicated area for learning how to ski/snowboard that is more than your typical bunny hill. I have never tried the snow tubing but it looks like a bunch of fun. Parking seems to be easier here. I think their chalet is well-designed with lots of room for seating and purchasing food. I remember the food being pretty average for a ski resort. Also I think their rental area/system is better designed than the other resorts. The last times I went with my school (more than 6 years ago), we had to go do a quick test so they could assess whether we would be able to go on more difficult hills by giving us a sticker if we passed. I'm not sure how strictly they enforce this nowadays...maybe they only do this for school kids...but it was annoying waiting in a long line to get permission to go on a blue hill when I know I am an intermediate skier. For all the good things I have said about Snow Valley, I don't actually enjoy skiing here that much. It's not that I find the hills too easy...I just find them to be bland. However, I would easily recommend this place for beginners/intermediates and for school trips. read more

Hill is small with big prices. Cost is almost the same as the larger more popular hills. Rentals are high priced and then the hit you up with price add ons such as helmets. Money seems to be their motivation rather than safety. Maintenance is not performed prior to opening but only when lifts go down. Shameful maintenance and high-priced have discouraged me from returning. read more

Tried to go tubing today. The line was crazy and they kept stopping selling tickets to control the volume in the hill. The hill looked empty with hardly anyone coming down. But when we asked we were told that even once you have tickets the wait was another 10 minutes to go up and another 30 minutes at the top to come down. We eventually left without tubing. Their communication and management of the lines and flow was just awful. Very disappointing after driving and hour from toronto for this. Will never go back. read more

Went for snow tubing on Thursday. Snow Valley has a great deal on Thursdays 3pm to 9pm, $15 per person. We thought we'd be there for 3 hrs maximum cause our son is only 5 year old. We ended up staying until 9. We had so much fun!!! I think the hills is perfect for first timers. Make sure to bring a ski goggle. read more

Drove all the way from buffalo ny to Come here today with friends and my family. Not as family friendly as they advertise. I have a 2 month old baby girl and a 1 and a half year old son. we began snow tubbing with our son. We took one ride and a woman came up saying we couldnt have the baby with the stroller anywhere but in the building. We were not in anyones way and we were in safe distance from the tubbing area. I asked to speak to management and he came over to say the same thing its our "policy" yet no signs anywhere saying no strollers(or babies), nor on their website.. I asked if we could have just the car seat and again we were told that its "our policy" you can wait in the building. We came here as a family and to be told my husband or I could not experience the family fun that is advertised is unbelievable. The employees are all teenagers that have no sense of friendliness. As a mother i was very angry that i was asked to sit inside while my child is having one of his first experiences. We asked for our full refund and we left. Before we left the "manager" pointed out that there is a video we are supose to watch before we enter the snow tubbing area. We were never told about this video. No sign anywhere saying we had to watch the video. This video is on a tiny tv all the way up in the corner with a 2 second mention of the things not aloud outside the building. Which is fine. But they still dont have any mention or sign of babies not aloud out of the building. So no this is not a family friendly place and i do not reccomend to anyone with a family. read more

This place is really cheap, I was charging my phone using the wall jack inside the chalet and no more than a minute later a man came over, pulled out my charger without first asking or checking, and in his most mono tone said to me "it affects the cash register" and walked away. No kidding, they surely got their cash registers (or in real meaning his wallet) well covered, I spent over $60 on lunch alone ( burgers, fries, pizzas, nothing fancy) for one adult and three young kids, including $0.25 plus tax for a cup of plain water, and one dollar extra for condiments for my burger. Don't try to picnic there as there are signs all over the chalet that you can't picnic there on weekends. You will likely get kicked out for bring your own food. As for the free wifi, don't bother, it hangs after logging on. read more
