4.5 stars Firstly, thank you to SoCal Corgi Nation for organizing such a wonderful and cute event! Secondly, thank you Nutrisource for the wonderful goodie bag!! It was my first time here and loved it! I thought everything was very well organized and they even set up a walkway and wood planks on top of the sand to make it easier for people to walk on. Parking neat the beach was $15 for the whole day and it went smoothly. The vendors were all nice and there were definitely a lot of corgi-themed products. There were some really unique items like a "s'mores" treat for dogs that came in different flavors like strawberry and blueberry. A toy store that offered "Pawky" sticks and mooncake toys for the dogs. And there was a corgi-themed travel luggage/bag vendor which really tugged at my heartstrings. There were other vendors that sold corgi keychains, pins, and more. I was hoping to get a Hawaiian shirt for my dog, but alas, no one sold them here. I did end up buying some treats and a hat for my dog. The corgis were all super nice and well-behaved! My dog got along with all of them. Will definitely be back next year...maybe even drive up to the Pizmo Beach corgi day! read more

Corgi Beach Day is just a feel-good time. Who doesn't enjoy watching those corgi buts frolic around in the waves and sand? Since we first started bringing our corgi, they've really beefed up the event. The most recent sponsor was Beyond Pet Food, who were donating 1 lb of food to Queen's Best Stumpy Dog Rescue for everyone who tagged them in a photo. They also have a kissing booth with famous corgis, costume and talent contests, apparel for purchase and more. Be sure to check-in your corgi so that they get an accurate count. What could be better than a paw-ty filled with over 1,000 Corgis in adorable halloween costumes? Corgi beach day was a five star experience that offered tons of puppy related activities, vendors, and food. I brought my two dogs (a Corgi halfbreed, and Australian Shepherd - honorary Corgi for the day) who had a blast taking part in the bacon bubble eating and getting belly rubs from random strangers all day. Oh Corgi Beach day. What a wonderful event. I remember when I first got my Rufus 6 1/2 years ago, people didn't even know what he was, now it's quite the opposite. I have made it to this event 4 times now, each time more going on than the previous! The last couple times I want to say the ratio of people to corgi is 5:1, I'm not kidding-- SoOo many people (it's really the only downside)... It's definitely good and bad. You can't see a ton of corgis playing without tons of people in between each one, but I won't complain much--mine loved the attention so much, plus it gives some extra "wall protection" from him and the streets and going too far too fast. If you have a corgi, I think this is a must go event at one point in time or the other. Just to see people interested in the breed is wonderful, I really just hope it creates a good impact on the breeding and rescue efforts. As much as it was overwhelming for me personally on the amounts of people, it was all worth it to see my little one as happy as can be. We managed to leave without a lawsuit, very minimal naughtiness, lured him back with treats so he didn't manage to get too far, he only peed on every tent and a few corgis -__-, and a warm fuzzy feeling (pun intended on the amounts of fur aftermath in my car) knowing my Rufus has a good day. We were dog-sitting while his daddy & mommy partied at Coachella. Good thing it was the Spring Corgi beach day at Huntington Beach! Gave us all a great outlet to socialize and be active. My husband let our Corgi off the leash and got tuckered out chasing after him as he ran around in the packs. I just wandered around chatting with people and petting their dogs. TIP- Keep an eye out for the rascals who sneak up and mark their territory on your stuff and legs. Ahhhh!! A whole beach filled with corgis is like a dream come true! Me and my boyfriend just recently came here on April 11, 2015 and there were literally over 500 corgis! I'm a huge animal lover, so anything that has to do with a pool full of dogs, I'm there! There's corgis all dressed up in costumes, cute clothes, running around in the water like there's no tomorrow. There's just a whole bunch of cuteness going around on corgi beach day! I got to see corgis that I didn't even know existed. They come in all different mixtures of colors (brown, black, white, black & white, brown & white), it was just so adorable to see their cute stubby legs walking around on the beach. There are so many corgi owners and it's nice to see how everyone gathers together for their dogs to have fun. We brought our corgi, Tubby and our small yorkie, Boomer to the beach and he was having more fun than Tubby was! Boomer was messing around with all the dogs because he's still a puppy, but I'm glad our babies got to interact with other doggies since they're always cooped up at home :( I will definitely come back whenever there is a next one! This is a great chance to bring your dogs (not just corgis) to have fun, exert some energy & to swim in the water! They also have places where you can have your dog drink water, but it's best if you bring your own bowl and water just in case. It's a lot easier that way. Absolutely heaven. We came all the way from San Diego for this day of bliss and I would do it a thousand times over. A good tip is to bring snacks, come early and take an Uber or Lyft. I am so glad that my friends and I were able to go to the Spring 2015 So Cal Corgi Beach Day because it was so much fun! The ones since then seem like they were way too crowded, so I am glad we got to go before it got to be too much. It was crowded, definitely, but we were still able to walk around and have a fun time. This one took place at the Huntington Dog Beach, which I did not even know existed before this event. It is so nice that the dogs can be off-leash on this beach! I was in heaven from the moment I arrived because SO MANY CORGI BUTTS!!! Love love love! I parked a few blocks away but it was unlimited free street parking so that is always a plus. There is metered street parking closer to the beach but I do not recall what the time limit was. My friends and I signed in so that the organisers could know how many people and corgis showed up, and then we walked around to see all the corgis and have fun by the water. My friend brought blankets to sit on, but we did not think to bring umbrellas! While I was busy exploring the sights with the one corgi of our group, Cola, the other two dogs in our group betrayed us by constantly leaving our group to go to people who had umbrellas. But I guess we can't blame them since it was pretty hot and sunny. So my advice would be to bring blankets AND an umbrella to this so that your dog can have some shade to chill in. While the event did seem a bit unorganised at times, I feel like it can't be helped when you are dealing with so many people and so many dogs in an open space like this. They did pull off a fun costume contest and there were several opportunities to take pictures with celebrity corgis. Finally they got us all together to take the group picture... but there were hundreds of corgis and even more people so it was pretty much impossible to fit us into one picture. We all had a lot of fun though and I would recommend checking these out if you love corgis! read more

Welcome to my every day life! x's 500... I am the proud owner of Bentley, my 6.5 yr old tri-color Cardigan Welsh Corgi. We have been coming to the "SoCal Corgi Beach Day" meets since the second or third meet.. so that's been several meets so far. He has a blast all the time, although he's a little apprehensive/anti-social when it comes to other dogs... he loves the humans more! This past meet was awesome, like always, but more crowded? It just seemed more hectic this past time around. Seems like a lot more humans this time compared to last year's meet which had a pretty even ratio of human-to-corgi. It took us forever to drive down PCH with all the traffic, so we got there a little late. We missed the group picture, which I wish was done closer to 1PM so it gives people time to get down there after all the traffic. Anywho.. Bentley had tons of fun playing in the sand and surf. If anybody goes to the future meets and sees a tri-color (black, white, brown) Corgi with a black and white-tipped tail and a black diamond on top of his head... say hi! It's Bentley! read more

PLEASE DO NOT FEED DOGS WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM OWNERS!!! Now that this is out of the way, on to the review. Corgi Beach Day is the best Day EVER! I love bringing Dixie down for Corgi Beach Day. She has such a great time playing hide and seek with me. She runs off to make friends and I panic. lol. She is never too far so don't call me a bad parent. She loves to meet the nice people who come to play. And takes full advantage of all of the pets that come her way. This event used to be fairly small and they would count all of the corgis that cam to participate but we have far out grown that. We love seeing the same people at each event and meeting the new ones. People and their corgis come from all over to join us at the beach. We tend to get there early and leave early as the crowds become to overwhelming for just Dixie and me. There is usually a talent show, Limbo contest, a costume contest, and some sort of eating challenge. If you want to see these things nab your spot early. The Queens Best Stumpy rescue is always out there with their babies that need Furever homes. The healthy spot has water and treat stands that the doggos can check out. There are lots of other dog friendly vendors for you to check out and enjoy. There is also the official Corgi Beach Day booth where you can buy Socal Corgi Nation and Beach day gear. If you do not have a corgi you are welcome to attend but please keep your food up and don't feed the dogs without permission. Some are on limited diets and other have gotten so many treats already that they may not need any more. Sorry to be a buzz kill but these are pets that we will have to take care of if they end up with a tummy ache. read more

And of course dogs that aren't corgis are invited too. It's the best dog party that ever was. Huntington Dog Beach is the perfect location for the gathering of corgis. They've got waves for corgi surfing and general corgi play. They've got all sorts of competitions you can submit your corgi into, whether it's the best momo or the best pumpkin pie consumer. All very entertaining for both dog and (wo)man. Even if you don't have a corgi or dog, you're invited! Seriously, it's the best atmosphere for any dog lover. Parking isn't too bad as long as you're not afraid of walking. Park in the residential area, and it's free. Just make sure to be respectful of the neighbors. read more

ERHMAHGERD I LOVE ME SOME CORGIS. I don't have a corgi of my own (not yet, at least!), so I come here with my boyfriend so we can corgi watch and take photos of them. Wow, that just sounded so creepy, but you know what I mean. All the owners and corgis are friendly, so you can just come up to them and ask about their corgi and what not. One thing to be careful of is to keep an eye out for your things (such as backpacks or coolers on the ground). Sometimes, a corgi will sneak right by to mark his/her territory! You should definitely bring a camera, towels, umbrella (if you've got one), and sunscreen. As for parking, this is Huntington Beach, and there's metered parking everywhere. Here, I don't even bother to try to find free parking, and just try to find a free meter closest to my destination. read more

It's the most wonderful time of the year....corgis as far as the eye can see! Hands down, our favorite event for our little corgi. From costume contests, wet-tshirt contents, limbo, vendors and freebies for your pups...the event is well organized and it's a great way to meet other corgis and dog lovers in the community. The location changes from the HB to LB location -- we prefer HB -- the parking is easier. The event has definitely grown over the years. This is our 2nd year and we've had to come even earlier to grab a decent parking spot. Definitely look to spend at least 2-3 hours here. read more

So much fun in the sun for all those corgis! Actually, it was slightly overcast that day and also sprinkling intermittently throughout the event. But, that's alright! The corgis didn't seem to mind and everyone just resumed having a good time. Plus, overcast days make for good photos! The event goes from 11AM-3PM, but we got there pretty late. We arrived around 1:30PM and missed most of the activities and contests, but at lease parking wasn't too ruff! Everyone was so friendly, owners and their corgis alike! Make sure to bring a camera because you'll for sure be taking tons of pictures of your own pup or of other people's pups! (You don't have to be a corgi owner to attend!!) They provided plenty of water for the dogs but o didn't see any of the free treats that Yelpers have mentioned (probably because we were late). read more

How can you not give this day 5 stars??? This starts at 11am and ends at 3pm but I got there around 12:30pm. Parking on the beach can be tough and there is tons of traffic so just park a few blocks in the residential area and walk it out. The closer spots are metered but we parked far enough that it was free. When we walked toward the tent, a lot of dogs were walking home since they were so tired. Derp. Lucky for us a lot remained, chilling on the beach with the owners or running in the water. There are so many photo ops with these fat asses. I was seriously searching for the cutest and fattest corgi out there but there were so many to choose from. My heart exploded from all the cuteness, I couldnt even. At 1pm, there was a friggin limbo competition for the corgs. Hahahha emoji with the laughing tears. I took so many photos with litto doggies but unfortunately there wasnt a huge group of doggies you could just bombard and take a photo opp. I love this. I am so lucky I was in SoCal the day this happened hehe read more

The booth/vendor area seemed a little congested/closely spaced together given the crowds of people/dogs, but that hardly detracted from the fun. Great to have food trucks nearby too.
