This treatment center helped me out a lot. My friends and family actually brought me here. At first it was hard to adjust but the staff made me feel welcomed. What really helped me get over my anxiety of being around people was my case manager and the weekend outings. I eventually warmed up to the program and they made it clear how I was going to get and stay sober all I had to do was commit to it. After a few months here I did get through my program and it is something I will never regret. For those coming into the program, my advice is be patient. The world wasn't made in a day so it's not you'll get sober in a day. Give the program a solid chance and it'll do wonders for you. Yeah it can be frustrating being away from home and your family but a few months in recovery is gonna do wonders for you in the long run. read more

I wish I could give Sobertec a higher rating, but after much thought, I cannot. (Side note - why is every single review either removed or filtered? We're talking over 15 reviews). My husband went here for 30 days and was a scholarship patient, meaning they helped fund part of his stay - although, to be clear, we did pay many thousands of dollars! He detoxed for 7 days and transferred to Sobertec afterwards. He didn't find out until about 5 days before he was discharged from treatment that his 30 days actually started from the time he entered detox because he was on "scholarship". This upset me greatly, especially since it was a total surprise. The pros: my husband is still sober; he had a great counselor at the program who he still speaks to The negatives: everything else I was misled about many things, from coed housing, to phones in the house, etc. After about 2 weeks into the program, they were already trying to convince us to extend his stay, saying he needed more rehab. (They even called us "LIARS" after we told them we couldn't afford to stay any longer...true story). People were still getting drunk in rehab, there were fights between residents, inappropriate relationships...basically, it was very difficult to pay so much money to send my husband here and watch this drama unfold. I don't have a lot of rehab experience, so I'm not sure if there are better places out there, but let's hope so!! read more

Staff here helped me out. I needed the support they gave me to deal with my drinking. When I called they really laid it out for me in what to expect and made it easy to get into their program. Only drawback was that I didn't have access to my cellphone when I got there but they do have things to keep you entertained until you get your phone privilege back. Wanted to get more information about their program for a loved one and they were extremely helpful. My friend had been to a treatment center before so I had very specific questions to ask. The person who took the call was able to answer everything I asked. So they do provide medical detox and I was told the main focus of their program was all inpatient. There are much better rehabs than SoberTec. Very unorganized and unprofessional. They are very much more interested in your money than in your care and treatment. The staff is forever changing. I have been here two months and have saw numerous employees leave either due to the treatment of the staff or clients. They are not honest with you in regards to care, length of stay, living arrangements, and the list goes on. Southern California is the rehab capital of the country and there are so many better well equipted facilities in the area. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I cannot express enough, the sadness I feel for the families who have to deal with these "rehabs." I experienced some of the most unprofessional follow-up, phone calls, and voicemail messages. They do NOT do what they tell you they will for your loved one. I visited my son, as it was the holidays. Presents he was given were stolen, his phone was stolen, good luck finding anyone to care. Lou, the house manager most accidentally answered my phone call and then after stating the above, "had to call me back," and hung up. Wanted to find a local rehab center for my wife so we brought her here. It was tough at first but I was able to keep contact with her throughout her stay. Once a week we went through family therapy with her therapist there and I learned a lot about my wife and how I can help her stay sober. AVOID SoberTec at all costs.... I won't even waste my time getting into any lengthy detail - but I assure you that my disgusted and frustrated, poor review is NOT based on any issues regarding their policies that kept me from using substances, being too strict, not being indulgent enough. Please take my word for it, before you make the mistake that I did by supporting this "treatment center." SoberTec is actually THE MOST DISORGANIZED organization, business, treatment, whatever you want to call it.... it is horrific. At least ONCE a day, you will be thrown into some kind of disorganized, completely unacceptable chaos and frustration... hardly what anyone in recovery or who aspires to be, should ever have to deal with. For instance, they will lose the van keys and you will be stuck while the staff panic and spent 40 minutes while you sit in a parking lot or wherever... just to find the keys are in their pocket or under their seat. Or, several times a week you'll be told you have an appointment with someone who is probably an incompetent intern, and you will get out of group and be driven there, or have to miss your lunch, your exercise workout time, or recreational time... just to find out upon arrival that they had the time and date wrong. The houses are rarely stocked with enough food, and when they are... it is usually disgusting, cheap, unhealthy food. Same with the "chef" who prepares a lunch and some attempt at a dinner once a day... horribly greasy, just badly overcooked, undercooked food. Some of the drivers, the clients while i were there were really nice and fun people. Not all but a lot. However, if you want to spend most of your day in a stuffy packed minivan, going back and forth and back and forth and back an forth.... just a pathetic attempt of trying to save money and/or taxes on having the actual mandatory group "center" (a depressing little shack in the middle of a parking lot) separate from the house where you actually live. Anyways, I could go on and on. It's ridiculous. DO yourself a big favor and look elsewhere for treatment. Seriously. read more

This place is SELL SELL SELL! Once they have your phone number, they will NEVER stop calling you!! It goes to the point of HARASSMENT! Even though my husband got treatment somewhere else, they STILL Harass us!! I have even requested that they remove our phone numbers, but the calls continue! These telemarketers Obviously get commission on selling this $25,000 a month institution! We told them we couldn't afford it, calls keep coming. We told them that my husband is already in treatment, the calls keep coming! The SECOND time I called to tell them to take us off their call list, the guy actually ARGUED with me!!! My son was speaking to the admissions department to get admitted. They told him to pack and they would be sending a card for him Saturday to pick him up everything checked out with the insurance. Friday came and he got a message saying that they insurance premium was not paid. I called back left a message because I'm an auto pay it's always paid please call me nobody returned my phone call I called back again and spoke to a woman who said the admissions counselor was on another phone call. She took my message about the insurance and he would call me back he did not. I called back again and another woman answered and she told me that they called the insurance and that we did not have coverage. To call my insurance. I know for a fact we have coverage because you have been to two other rehabs this year alone and they were paid in full. I called the insurance got my benefits they told me that we had met our deductible and her out-of-pocket and that they would pay for the coverage for both in and out of network to have the rehab call back. I called the rehab back again another woman answered and I told her what was going on she put me on hold and came back saying that a manager told her that the insurance would not pay enough for what they wanted to get paid for. I told her that my son had spoken to the counselor he told him everything was OK to pack and ready to go. No apology from her. these people make it seem like they care about your recovery and want to talk to you. But if they really cared why didn't the admission counselor ever call back if I had not brought back over and over to get an answer they were just going to leave my son hanging and have him waiting for a car that was never going to show up for him. If that's how counselors care about people that want to recover I can just imagine what the rehab is like. I know for a fact that my insurance paid very well in the other rehabs. for them to say that that is not enough for them is ridiculous talk about a greedy rehab! read more

Had to come to Cali for treatment and it was hard and scary saying bye to my family. Once I got here though I made good friends with my roommates and they made it easier to be there. After detox, we switched houses...I thought I was gonna be in the house I was in the whole time but whatever. Had a lot of outings and did a lot of outside meetings. The center itself is pretty cool. They've got ping pong tables and a basketball hope. Thought that was super cool. The houses all have AC which is awesome because the Cali weather got hot. Worked with my therapist and counselor everyday and the drivers are cool too. They were super down to earth and really related to me whenever I was feeling down. I think that's what I really liked about this place. Seems everyone went through recovery so when I was feeling lousy about myself they knew what to say to cheer me up. Was here for two months until I finally graduated the program. At first I didn't want to do it but by the end of it, I was kinda sad I had to go. I still keep in touch with a lot of my house mates and even my counselor. Great place. Only reason for four star is that I had to travel. read more

This place is a total joke. If I could give 0 stars I would. People who run/work at this place are very dishonest. Ben and Molly charged a credit card without authorization and lied about the charges. Ben called me not even knowing who I was and asked if my credit card ended with certain numbers,after i said no he said then I don't need to speak to you and hung up. If you call and try to call them out on their lies they cut you off and hang up on you. They say I spoke to you and knowing well they didn't and say they tried calling you when they haven't. They lose peoples money and mail and have no compassion for the people they are helping. This place is all about the money and could care less about the people they are suppose to help. Please reconsider sending your loved one to this place because its nothing but a headache to deal with and they are very unprofessional and unorganized. read more

My husband went here 2 years ago and we have been fighting bills ever since. They have sent us to collection twice for bills that were paid by the insurance company. They promised air fare and transportation were included in the cost and now two years later they want $500. The service was awful and my husband had to be transferred out. really .... when i first arrived at $ober tec . it was a huge releafe ! i loved it ! cool staff , laid back environment , beautiful house with a ocean view , coping skills good groups the hole 9. but i had a issue with a house mate ( theirs always one dum ass in the house ) and didn't feel comfortable in the house so i went a.m.a ... bout an hr later came to my scenes and walked back. when i returned my bags where packed and on the front porch. not looking for pitty but i felt it was very unprofessional and embracing . you would think $ober tec. would be a lil more understanding to a recovering attic . im sure im not the first nor the last attic to have cold feet in sobriety . i offered my piss , blood , moth swab , anything to show i didnt do anything to jeopardize my sobriety for the hr i walked off but the supervisor said everyt6hing was final and out of his/her hands ( very polite and respectfully though ) and i had to leave . I ALSO REQUESTED MABEY ILL DO BETTER AT THE NEXT FAZE WITCH IS THE ACTUAL SOBER LIVING HOME INSTEAD OF STAYING IN THE DETOX HOUSE CONSIDERING I PREVIOUSLY CAME TO $OBER TEC. My son was in detox for 9 days, I think detox went okay. When he was moved to the IOP housing he decided not to complete the program. He was dumped on the interstate. The money on the books I had put in an account for him was not given to him when they dumped him on the side of the road. So there he sat until friends from San Diego picked him up, we live out of state. I realize he was a partial scholarship patient but you don't just dump somebody on the side of the road with no money, 2400 miles from home. read more

Please investigate thoroughly before going to any drug rehab center. Sobertec is all about the insurance money they sucked my insurance dry but I admit while I was there I looked past the the lies that Anthony hold me that sobertec would provide for me anything to get my insurance. Mind you my mind wasn't right due to the drugs that I was using so I fell for it. Basically in a nutshell if you want to stay clean any treatment center will suffice so in a nutshell I was in there outpatient program for a month or so. I felt at 5 months clean and sober I could get back into my career which is commercial Concrete Construction with my union. But that conflicted with their 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. morning meetings Monday Wednesday and Friday so they threw me out on my ass my counselor Jerry said that I chose my career over a place to stay. I was still doing UA's after work but could not attend their meetings because I was starting to get my life back together with my career. They would not let me even stay until I grabbed my first full week's paycheck. So basically I guess the program is ok if you do not do the outpatient program. Everyone there is fake except a couple people please read all of the reviews and investigate thoroughly any treatment program you choose....good luck on your decision and your sobriety read more

The saddest part about this place is that they have so much potential and resources to help people but everything here is about the $$$$. They have clients that are being paid by insurance brokers to stay there, those clients seem to have the most success and the longest "treatments" made available to them until they relapse and get readmitted back into the $3500 a day detox portion of the program. There have a few staff members who seem to legitimately care about the clients but are so overwhelmed by the horrible management and way the facilities are run they are frustrated and overwhelmed. I was there about 50 days prior to being kicked out because I reported them to the state of California and my insurance company for fraud. I have pictures of their actual facilities where they wanted me to stay after my detox time. I'm gratefully 87 days sober today but NONE of it hast to do with SOBERTEC, I could have hired a babysitter to lock me in a room and bring me restaurant food 3 times a day for far less that what this facility stole from my insurance company. $884 for a pee in a cup drug test..... are you kidding me????? Groups are a joke, people sleep, text, and rarely participate. It's a complete social club for young addicts and alcoholics. Anyone looking for a real facility that will help themselves or a loved one, I beg of you to look elsewhere. If you have any questions about my experience at this horrific facility, please don't hesitate to contact me. Save your life, go to meetings (they're free), get a sponsor (that's free too) Work the steps of your given 12 step program and really do a for real investigation of the facility prior to going. This place is a total money grab. I was lied to about everything before hand. None of the houses are near the beach, the food is terrible. One night we only got Mac and cheese for dinner and we had hot dogs multiple times. The group's were ok as long as the person leading it could keep control. At least half the group's would turn into people joking around, bragging about drug use, or sexual exploits. It was very frustrating. The staff never knew what was going on, you were never told anything, and you were constantly waiting on things. The majority of the staff was rude and if you needed something it was almost impossible to get it. The vans constantly had to many people in them. Everytime they made a mistake they tried to say it was some kind of learning opportunity and they wouldn't apologize. The weekend before I got there my house had been on lock down, because medication had been stolen out of the safe. They took phones and people were locked in their rooms. That is until they figured out that it had to have been staff. None of the staff got in trouble and the patients weren't even given an apology. The entire experience was terrible. There are much better facilities than this one. read more

There should be a zero star button. Worst rehab I have ever been to. The pictures are of a different house if you think that's where you'll be staying your wrong. The staff doesn't care about any of the clients they just look at it as a paycheck and don't pay any mind that it's affecting people's lives. They pick favorites and will tell you things that aren't true. For example they told me if I didn't go to detox at a hospital after I've been there for three weeks and just got out of the hospital because I was in pain and "they didn't know what else to do for me and that if they were going to give me pain meds in the hospital that was fine and you can come back to the program after" so after I got out of the hospital for them to tell me I have to go to this other hospital 30 minutes away that has a detox program there that took my insurance. Ended up not taking my insurance and had to pay out of pocket when they told me they had spoken with them and made sure they took my insurance. That was obviously a lie. Scott the guy in charge of the place said I would be discharged and could never come back if I didn't go and if I did I could come back. So I go I mean what other choice do I have right I wanted to get back in the program. After completing detox at this hospital I call them to come get me and they tell me they'll send some one right away. I'm waiting for hours I call back they said someone was on the way. Another two hours go by and no one is there to pick me up yet. By that time it's dark out and I'm stranded. I'm not from California so I had no where else to stay or anyone to come get me. Luckily I had a credit card to get a hotel room for the night. When I get there I call again Scott says someone will be there to get me in the morning. At this point I don't even believe him. Why would I everything he's told me so far has been a lie. So morning comes and it's the same story as the day before. Being pissed off and frustrated with them I end up read more
