My son went to his first Soccer Shots session on his second birthday. He and some of the other 2-year-olds were pretty reluctant at first and didn't want to do what this strange man was telling them to do. But Coach Jordan was fantastic and the "schtick" he did throughout the session (which I assume is Soccer Shots standard) really helped all the children laugh and get comfortable and learn. From jumping back at every kid's high five ("woah! you're so strong!") to having the ball bag "eat" the soccer balls, the whole session was as entertaining as it was good soccer practice, and at this age the entertainment is crucial. I have both my two year old daughter and four year son in soccer shots and they love it! This was their first time playing soccer and I was a little wore about how my two year old daughter would react but she loved it. The coaches are patient and great with the kids, teaching them the basics in a fun way which emphasizes good sportsmanship and respect which are such important tenets in all sports. Coach Jake is excellent and works hard to keep the class moving along. We've tried several classes in the area and this one was by far the best. I wish it was a bit more structured but part of the problem is that parent's do not watch their children and the coach often has to go off and deal with one or two kids not paying attention which means that the kids that are paying attention are no longer getting attention and become bored or wander off. As a former coach myself what I have always found is that you have to keep things moving without distractions so that the coach feels good about the support he gets from us and the children learn, if not get worn out a bit! My daughter has been doing Soccer Shots for a few seasons, and my son just started. The program is excellent for us. The location is perfect for us, and the times they offer fit our schedule. We LOVE Coach Jon Bartley. He is amazing with kids. He learns all of the kids names in all of his classes immediately. He's great at making soccer fun for kids, and adjusting his style to their age, whether the kids are 2 or 6. He's sensitive to anyone who may need some pushing or anyone who gets hurt. He's a good motivator to all the kids. We also loved Coach Jake, who was an assistant coach to Jon now but is his own head coach now, but we thought the duo of Jon and Jake were the best and most fun out of all the classes. read more

super great way to get kids playing futbol. My 6-year-old tried another soccer class but it was very competitive and the kids were encouraged to be aggressive. Talk about a sure fire way to turn off a lot of kids. Jose is a great instructor. he keeps it fun but somehow the kids are learning. They are not obsessed with the technical stuff and rather than drilling technique they always play a long game which is what it's all about. Strongly recommended. read more

Great soccer club for young ones -- my 5 year old daughter had a great time, even though soccer isn't her sport of choice. Coach Jon in particular is AMAZING. Have tried other places (Mersey, etc) but none are as good as Soccer Shots. Cordonices is a great location too. Planning to enroll my son when he's old enough! read more

My kids started doing Soccer Shots at age 3 through their pre-school and just finished a week long summer camp through Piedmont Rec. They love Coach Raul - he and the other coaches make learning and playing soccer so much fun. My oldest is now doing a competitive travel league and I attribute her love of soccer to this great program. read more

My 6-yo daughter has now had three sets of Soccer Shots lessons. She loves it and so do I. The coaches really foster an inclusive, positive atmosphere and do a great job engaging the kids and keeping them focused -- no small feat when you're talking about 10 kids and as many balls outside in the sunshine! She has also progressed in her skills, as they actually do manage to practice things like ball control and passing all in this atmosphere of play. It's the perfect introduction to team sports. Also, Coach Jon is AWESOME. Just the most energetic, cheerful, sweet person ever ... he is SO GREAT with the kids. Coach Alsay (sorry if I am spelling his name wrong) is also wonderful -- he's so funny, and really gets the kids moving! read more

My 8yo daughter participated in Soccer Shots through her school. There is much going on afterschool, except homework club and free play, so Soccer Shots helped provide some focused time to build motor skills and help her learn a new skill. She loves it! Although she is not on a soccer team, whenever she plays with other players, they tell her she is "really" good. read more

Coach John is amazing! He definitely has a following among the parents. Many of us are amazed at how well he is able to maintain the balance of fun and discipline with kids as young as 2. All that and he actually knows soccer and is able to teach skills through fun activities. We will be so sad when our kids age out. read more
