Just got married 2 days ago, made an appointment right away for 9:30am. Arrived at 9:10, checked in online and walked right in to a window. I was helped with name changed within 7 mins. I left at 9:18. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Thank you for making this process easy. I did see a lot of people without appointments or right documentation outside making a fuss. We had 2 appointments today and got there on time, we were never called so we left, my son is blind had his cane but never was helped as handicapped, the gentleman at the door was horrible, but the gentleman inside last week who made our appointments on his computer was super kind and helpful, he helped my husband so well. Went today around 10:00am (4/21/2025) w/o appt. Parking was difficult had to circle around twice. Security check uneventful. Went to check in machine, again uneventful. The place was packed but I only waited 15minutes. Andrea, the young lady who processed my claim was very kind, very professional and competent. Horrible place. There were lots of young non English speaking men hanging out in the parking lot. I was lucky to get a parking space close to the entrance door. There were a few people there lined up to enter and a security guard yelling in Spanish. I politely told him I do not speak Spanish and he kind of joked about it and never repeated what he was saying in English. They have a metal detector and the security working it were all chatty. Then i was confronted with a huge hall divided into parts (rooms) with numbers above glass windows (like visiting in a prison). You have to get a number. They have two machines that spit out slips with numbers. One is for those with appointments and one without appointments. Thank God I had an appointment as there was no line for that machine while the 'no appointment' line was 30 deep. I could not get the touch screen to work and a woman tried to assist as she was yelling in Spanish. Finally got the touch screen to turn on. 1st language Spanish. 2nd language English. 3rd language Haitian/Creole. Got my number and took a seat among the hundreds waiting. I put an N95 on! A woman was calling out the numbers, but in Spanish! They had a digital display screen for numbers as they were called, so I kept watching that. I was sitting by the narrow aisle. I heard something hit the floor and bounce. I looked down and it was a molar!!! It had to have come from someone seated near me, but no one was looking for it! It just laid there! My number was called within 10 minutes and I walked to a different room where I sat in a chair behind glass and slid my paperwork to the woman on the other side. She scanned the documents and did not make conversation. My originals were slid back to me under the opening in the glass and I was finished. I could not wait to leave this place and walked quickly outside, took the N95 off and took a deep breath. The young non English speaking men were still hanging out in the parking lot, but no one was near my vehicle. Got in and left. I seriously hope I never have to return to this place. read more

The location for the social security office that you listed at 6101 blue lagoon was empty. When I enquirer from a neighboring business they said that the office has been closed for 3 years. I ended up getting my problem resolved over the phone. That was a chore in itself. You need to remove that office from your listing. read more

I visited this office today and it was lovely. I had an appointment at 2pm and I was finished and out the door by 2:08pm. I'm aware the office is only accepting appointments however, I feel this is perfect. Less people sitting and hovering over you like sardines. I suggest you make it permanent, by appointment only, less people. read more

A 100th Yelp is a special event - much like a trip to the Social Security Administration. OK, those are two diametrically opposite special events, but it serves me right for misplacing my Social Security card. And, since I couldn't figure out from the Social Security website if I could mail my application without sending an actual proof of identity (driver's license), I decided to submit my application at a local Social Security office (the cost of a replacement card is free; you can order up to 3 replacement cards per year, but not more than 10 per lifetime). I arrived around 8:30 on a Wednesday morning to a slammed parking lot, and with good reason - the office actually opened at 8am, not 8:30am as stated on the website. The entrance leads to a drab, musty smelling room packed full of people sitting on rows of chairs. Several teller windows line one wall, which is where Social Security officials handle the inquiries. At 8:30am - 30 minutes since the doors opened - the teller windows were still closed. There is an electronic check-in that prints out a number for you and directs you to one of three available rooms. Replacement card inquiries are in B, the room in the back. "Finally," someone huffed as a few windows began opening up around 8:45am. A real cross section of Miami - black, white, Latino (even Indian), sat elbow to elbow with young and old. Some brought babies, some brought attorneys, some brought friends who spoke English well (or at least better than them). The Social Security officials were friendly and helpful and plowed through the inquiries surprisingly efficiently. At 10am - 90 minutes after arriving - I finished submitting my paperwork to the official, who said a new card would arrive within 10 days - which it did. read more

It was my second time to come here..... I went here to update my information on SS card on November 25, 2015. I don't know it's my bad luck or I chose to come in the wrong time (during the long holiday week.) There were a few officers working on that day. I waited for about 1-2 hours before the lady at window #11 called me in. Everything went fine and I spent only 15 minutes to complete everything. It sounded good right ? I got a receipt and was told I would get a new card on mail with in 10-14 days. She said you could destroy your old card when you got home. (THANKS to myself, I didn't do it !!!) 1 month passed, I still hadn't got my new card in mail. So I sent a letter along with my copy of receipt to the office and about 10 days later I got the letter back from them. They asked me for more information about myself. I replied back and I heard nothing from them again.... Last month, My husband and I filed income taxes online and we finally found that my social info was still not updated !! So I guess they didn't process the case for me !?!? It totally wasted of my time. Yesterday, I went to the office again. Luckily, I was called within 30 minutes. The officer at the window #29 was very polite and professional. (I didn't tell him about my issue.) He asked me for my documents, confirmed my information, went back to talk to his supervisor, and checked my status with USCIS (I believe). Even though I spent time with him longer than with the lady #11, I felt this time would be working !! He waited until my status was confirmed then he printed me a receipt. Wish me get the new card this time !! The lady #11 that I met 5 months ago didn't even confirm my status with USCIS I believe !! FYI you cannot rely on screen only to check your number. You have to listen carefully since on the screen only indicates the number they will call next but it doesn't show you what window you need to go.....if they speak too fast/ too low you may miss it..... Came here with my mom. I knew this place was going to be a nightmare when I pulled into the parking lot. First thing you see is a crowd of angry woman on their phones yelling about how their baby daddies aren't paying child support. Good luck finding a seat that's not occupied by people or garbage, or both. Diapers on the floor. Used tissues everywhere. Disgusting! Went to the back and got our number. Waited 2 hours and finally i see our number on the screen. But no one calls our name over the intercom. If they did it was probably in mumbled spanish. After telling the woman behind the window that our number was not called, she tells us to get another number. We told her that wasn't going to happen. So finally she said they would call my mom's name. Another 2 hours later they do. The worst part about this place was the people. Crackwh***s hitting on men. This is social security, not match.com! A guy blew his nose and mucus smacked the wall. A man next to me cleaned his ears with his car keys. This place literally redefined disgusting. read more
