My driver's license was due for renewal this year. I was going to wait until the summer, but I…read morereceived an email last week, so I checked for an appointment, not expecting anything. There were several locations with openings to choose from, and I decided to take the first appointment I could get rather than wait. I opted for Henderson, NC again, as I remembered having a positive experience. I arrived at an office with only one other vehicle in the parking lot, not including the employee lot. I wasn't sure I was in the right place; I expected it to be busier. I forgot what it looked like, too, as it had been eight years. The road dead-ends there. Check-in was a little confusing, as you need to wait at the doorway until you're called. I expected to check in and then receive a number, but maybe when it isn't busy, they can just call people back from there. I'm not sure appointments are needed here as the others that arrived after me were walk-ins. I was there for about five minutes, as my renewal was processed very quickly. We started with the photo. I was happy to have a new photo as I didn't like the old one. Then I think the vision test came next, I signed some documents and paid. I was told to expect the license in the next 10-15 days. I had already completed the Real ID eight years ago, so this time I just needed my current license to renew it. Both staff members were very friendly. The process was so efficient. I think it was worth the drive here for the speed and friendly service.

The rudeness experienced today was unacceptable! She was on her phone talking about what she was looking at on Instagram, so unprofessional... I didn't come in with an attitude so why do I have to get attitude? It was no reason for this terrible customer service! I will NEVER EVER come to this DMV again!

Perry Memorial Library is a large library. It doesn't appear as large as it is from the outside. It…read moreis two stories and there are stairs and an elevator available. Restrooms on both levels. Library cards are free for Vance County residents and $10 for everyone else. So that is nice that residents from other counties can borrow books here. They have a large section of books you can buy. Hardcovers were just $1 and everything else was less. The library is colorful and has a lot of windows so that brings in light. If you have trouble finding anything in the sections, just ask the friendly library staff. They have meeting rooms and plenty of seating throughout the library. There is a computer section near the stairs. Perry Memorial Library is part of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program. The library offers a notary service if you are in need. I think it was $6.
