If you have to avoid this place; DO SO! I had an appointment set weeks ago for 2pm today, my number wasn't called until 3:30pm. I can understand if I was a walk-in (which are accepted but from convo with others in the waiting area they waited an upwards of 6 hours) but I wasn't. I was in and out within 15 minutes. I made a mistake when signing up for Medicare and needed to undo my mistake. I had called the Anderson office and they sent me a form to correct the problem. I filled out the form but rather than mail it in for fear of another issue, I decided to go to this office which is much closer than Anderson. I only waited about 2 minutes before Miss Tanner helped me today. She looked over my form, saw it was complete and then went into a system to see if anything else was needed. She realized that the form i had submitted was the wrong one for my situation. She got the right form, let me fill it out without going back in line, and a few moments later she verified all was correct and I was on my way. Miss Tanner saved me many headaches with her thoughtfulness. Her service level was what I have experienced at the best 5-star businesses. Honestly, I didn't expect this level of caring and service from a government agency. Shame on me for not expecting it but I'm grateful for the experience! Thank you Miss Tanner! read more

I get how understaffed social security is. However I have received the worst service imaginable or rather non service. I had a phone appointment set for a day i could give my full attention to the phone call. I received a letter stating the day and time for my appointment. I get a call before said appointment ,when I'm at work, wanting to have appointment then. I explained thank you I had an appointment set up for a day I am not working. Today i found out she cancelled my appointment that I had received confirmation on by mail. I finally called after waiting all afternoon and found this out. They are going to call and reschedule another appointment. And so it goes. Btw i am all for government worker bees. I know they have a lot to deal with... but this is crazy. I will make a formal complaint. My time is worth something. This Indianapolis office in burbs needs to get organized or get a new leader. Yikes read more

We had a great experience at this office. We arrived at approximately 3:15 PM to make an appointment for next week. They were approximately 30 people waiting in the fairly comfortable chairs provided. We were called up at about 3:55 PM and were surprised that the young man taking care of us informed us that he would take care of everything right there. I have to say, for a social security office this one gets through the line very quickly! I had to get my name changed after getting married so I wanted a place that would semi get through fast. This location had some good reviews on here so I gave it a shot. The system they have works really well. At first it was a little confusing but as you watch the screen you pick up on how they're calling off the number or letter you have. They get right to it. They have a tv that has updates as they announce the numbers. There were 4 lines they were calling off, so tellers were constantly calling out names. You have to pay close attention. They had a cop that was very nice and helpful. He walked around and talked with people. It made it less stressful in the atmosphere. They allow you to be on your phone, despite all the signs, but you can't have a conversation on it. They kick you out to take the call. There were a ton of seat options. When you first walk in there are two machines you can check in on. It has options you can choose for why you're there or you can just choose other and wait to tell a teller when your number is called. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with this location. I'll definitely go back here if needing to have anything else changed! read more

Let me begin by saying don't hesitate to visit the Social Security office on the Northwest side in Park 100. The old horror stories didn't apply to my visit! A comfortable waiting area with friendly and efficient staff in a well organized office. We arrived at 12:15 p.m. to find easy parking with a steady stream of folks coming and going. Upon entering 2 kiosks were conventionally located by the entrance where I answered a few short questions and afterwards received a guest number. Even with the waiting area 3/4 full at lunch time our number was called in a little over 20 minutes. The woman we worked with was very pleasant and handled my issues one at a time. The website provided the information and documents required for each transaction so I was well prepared. She explained the process while answering our questions. The dreaded trip turned into a pleasant 45 minute experience where I found myself pleasantly surprised and in total relief at how easily and quickly the experience went. read more

per ssa disability determination dept.& my case worker:sara brown,indianapolis,indiana.i do not qualify for supplemental disability pay.(yet). i retired early 4/9/24 because#1: 2 existing injuries requiring immediate (2 seperate)surgeries:4 or 5 dislocated disks@my lumbar&,my right hip also needs replacement surgery (back to back,& downtime for healing &therapy,approximately 1 & 1/2 years)#2: existing past/prior injuries & surgeries also included are: upper spine@ scoliosis, tailbone broken&refused itself,2 separate open heart surgeries(1salvage job,&1 st jude mitral valve implant,2 different times/ different hospitals)2 left&right acl surgeries (both knees,different hospitals,different times), hip surgeries twice(same hip,2 different surgeries) steel pins@16 years old,also left titanium hip replacement 25 years ago,my left foot is flat footed,my rotator cuffs are failing,my left wrist has carpal tunnel,my right wrist has calcium buildup,(keep in mind that i have 2 more/future surgeries). i can't even drive a tractor trailer semi anymore, due to: dot physical qualifications(after doing it for 47 years of my life).(i will be starting out all over again from scratch!).i am old broken down and decrepit. i can't do anything physical anymore. i know of people with 6x less the injuries i have getting disability,but i don't qualify!!! this is what you have to look forward to from:your own federal government when you get old too ! I called this office on Friday , December 17th 2021 to be on hold for around 15 minutes and then hung up on 4 times. I then called another number that was suggested on the paperwork and waited on hold 2 times with nobody answering. I had very important paperwork that needed to be in on December 19th, 2021 which by the way was on a Sunday. When I realized that, I had to hurry and finish it (on Friday) since they are only open M-F 9-4. The paperwork stated that if they didn't receive or hear from me by 12-19-21 I could lose my benefits. I got in my car and drove to this Social Security office and it was closed! Nothing, nobody there!! So, here I am trying to call or drop the paperwork on a Friday so that they would receive it by Sunday, with no way to do either. Finally, I drove to the Post Office and was going to mail it hoping that the date on the envelope would show I mailed it before the 19th. Nope, because it was a SS manila envelope the Post Office couldn't do anything but mail it. They couldn't give me a tracking number, they couldn't do anything because the postage was paid by SS. So, I wrote on it myself stating that I mailed it on Dec. 17th and took a picture of it at the post office being sent in the mail slot. SS you need to do better!!!!!! Someone can lose benefits over trying to get something to you with no way to get it to you!!!! So very disappointed! read more

I need to change my SS card after getting married. I tried on-line; it said "We're sorry. You can't request a replacement Social Security case on-line if you need to change the name on your card. You can request a replacement card through your local office or by mail." I drove to my local SS office - all doors were locked; there were several cars by the employment entrance, but no one to be seen. Two other people were in the parking lot - one said that she called ahead and was told to come to the office - but no employees to be found. I then sent my paperwork via FedEx; it was returned due to doors being locked. I tried calling several times; I was not able to get through.
