The outside of the building is very austere and gray. There is a fair amount of parking available, so watch out for pedestrians. The building itself is huge; there is a map in the lobby and it is helpful. The lobby has so much on its own - a used book sales area, movies, space to sit.... There used to be (if memory serves over several years) a coffee station but now holds maps for planning information. There is, off the lobby, also a whimsical duck statue. The Friends of the library do a book sale once a year. On the last day, it starts as a normal sale, and in the afternoon goes to $10 per bag you fill with books. There is a gap between those two sales, and a place to queue until the bag sale opens. You're not going to pull one over on the Friends and sneak in as the first part of the sale ends. You'll be asked to wait outside.

Currently, there are approximately 24,000 people living there. Simsbury is part of the Farmington Valley. There are three state parks; Penwood, Talcott Mountain, and Stratton Brook. The famous landmark, Heublein Tower can be seen from a distance in various parts of the state. The Pinchot Sycamore is the largest tree in Connecticut, which is located in Simsbury. The International Skating Center is also located there; many well-known ice skaters trained there. The town is very beautiful and nicely maintained; houses are beautiful. There are many things to do. There is a town center, hiking trails, libraries, playgrounds, and restaurants. The school system is highly rated and crime rates are low. I really enjoy exploring the town and I'm there quite often. Overall, an A+ town all around.

Simsbury is a place to have a family and raise children. Simsbury is for champions! 2.) Aesthetics: Beautiful Simsbury, beautiful, beautiful Simsbury. Lots of woods. It's kind of rural meets Suburban. High class yet down to earth. 3.) Schools: A town of very nice elementary, middle, high schools and private schools. Your child is going to get a good education here. 4.) Citizens: Contrary to belief, Simsbury is not like that next town over. These people are a generally down to earth bunch. I describe these people as working middle class citizens. Yes, there are people who make money here, but that's just a slight deviation towards lower and upper class. 5.) Residences: Just like I said about Socio-economic status, you can find all types of housing here. From tiny startup homes to apartments to condominiums to McMansions, you can find it all! I recall when I was first looking for apartments I was able to find one on Hopmeadow Road for $700 a month. That was back in 2007! 6.) Town - statistics: To be honest, the statistics are that 90% of the citizens have college degrees and make an annual income of $90,000. That percentage also ties in with the literacy rate, as well as the likelihood that a high school graduate will go onto a 4 year college. 7.) Impressions: After I earn my ultimate degree, settle on a job, finish being young, partying and having fun, I am moving back here!

It's a very nice library portion of an office building. In order to get to the library at MetLife, you can take an escalator from the lobby next to a huge water fountain. Nice staff, some good selections of books, media and many more. There's a lot to offer at this library -- children's room, printing and scanning, museum passes and more.

We visited on a Monday and were surprised by how quiet the office was. There were only a couple of people ahead of us when we arrived, and we were called to the front window within about two minutes. The check-in process was quick, and the staff at the front desk were professional, courteous, and helpful. At the front window, a staff member provided us with an email address so we could send the necessary information before meeting with the caseworker. By the time we were called to the back, the worker already had everything needed, which helped make the appointment more efficient. We were also given a pager that buzzed when it was our turn to meet with a worker, so we could wait comfortably instead of wondering when we'd be called. The office was clean, organized, and had plenty of seating. I also noticed a small kids' corner with a table and books, which is a thoughtful touch for families with young children. The building is wheelchair accessible, there was plenty of parking available, and I noticed the Department of Children and Families office is located next door. Security was present with both a security guard and a police officer, and the office felt calm and orderly throughout our visit. From the time we walked in until we met with a worker was about an hour. We spent about 2 1/2 hours there overall, including the wait and our appointment. The caseworker was knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to answer our questions. Everything was resolved before we left. Government offices can sometimes involve long waits, but this visit was much smoother than I expected. The staff communicated well, treated everyone respectfully, and made what could have been a stressful experience feel organized and straightforward.

The person that I spoke to at the front desk was friendly. The children's room was on the smaller side but had plenty of toys for the little ones. There was a train table and various toys. There were two librarians there; I spoke to one and she was very friendly. The play area was very small and cramped. There were a handful of chairs for the adults. There were a few other children there playing; so not much space to sprawl out. Out of all the libraries I've been to, I think is one is average. There are great resources at the library; books, DVDs, audiobooks.

I needed some important documents printed, my printer at home wasn't cooperating, so I went to the…read morelibrary in Granby. This library is located in the same area as the Granby Town Hall and the Police Station. As I walked towards the computers, I found two elderly people complaining about how "they need to upgrade the whole system because nothing is working". I was thinking, why did I come here? I proceeded to print what I needed, and it printed out just fine and quickly. With my papers in hand, I decided to stay a few minutes and check out this library. This is a nice library, very well organized and has plenty of resources. They even have boxes of puzzles, you can check out. I also checked out the kids area. They have plenty of books categorized by holidays, like Christmas and Halloween. There was a very unpleasant lady eyeing me who was working at the children's department. She asked "may I help you?" a few times. I told her, I'm just looking, she kept eyeing me. Is it because I didn't have a child with me? Maybe I'm a teacher or maybe I have a child at home... For this discomfort, I'm l giving this library four stars. I went to the front desk, where I was greeted by a very pleasant lady who I paid 0.40 cents for the four pages I printed.

Heublein Tower is located in Talcott Mountain State Park. There were plenty of parking spaces and a…read morefew trails that lead up to the "castle". The main Tower Trail is 1.25-miles one-way; most of it were up hill and on rocky gravel. There were a couple of lookouts before reaching the tower; beautiful views but becareful, it's very steep. There were a couple of benches and waste receptacles along the way. The tower up close was magnificent and the land is full of history. There was the old garage that's used as an information center with benches and a video. A huge picnic pavilion and BBQ pit. The Tower was built to look like a German castle. There are 6-stories; bedrooms, living rooms, restrooms, and the ballroom which is now called the observation deck are in it. There were signs showing what certain areas were. This building was Gilbert Heublein's summer home, then The Hartford Times, then the State of CT. Many parties and famous people have traversed these steps; Dwight D. Eisenhower and Prescott Bush to name a couple. The observation deck is where the showstopper is; 360-degree views of Connecticut, it's a priceless and breathtaking view. Thank you to Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Friends of Heublein for up keeping and keeping this local and historical gem alive. I highly recommend the moderate hike up, if you're able to. Bring bug spray, water, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and your best hiking boots!

Bond Pond is adjacent to the Farmington Valley Greenway Trail; I stumbled upon it while walking on…read morethat path. It's a beautiful pond with houses lined up along it. It's near the intersection of route 44 and 177 in Canton. It's also popular with boating, kayaking, and fishing. It's a watershed for the Farmington River and Rattlesnake Snake Brook. I am not sure if there is public access. There is a bench right on the trail to sit and view the pond; I'm sure there are ways to walk to the water but I don't know if there is any public parking.

Plainville Public Library came into fruition in 1894. There are meeting rooms, children's room, fireplaces, and many seating areas. There were plenty of parking in the large parking lot; there were two electric vehicle charging spots as well. The building was large and inside was spacious. It's a very nice library but I noticed the hours are more limited compared to other libraries I've been to. I went on Friday at 3:45 and they were closing at 4. I went downstairs to the children's room. There were many books, computers, and toys. The area was spacious and a great spot for the kids. There was a train table, play kitchen, and coloring table. The librarian downstairs was friendly and I checked out a few books. I was able to drop off a few books upstairs the front desk. Overall, it's a nice library!

The parking lot is a good size to accommodate this crowd - the children's library is downstairs and the adult on the ground floor. It's huge and open, although with a substantial amount of books on the shelves (enough to where they have two small shopping carts available for patron use). There is a puzzle lending section, and for the month of February they have displayed a "blind date" book table where all you know is the genre of a mystery book to try. They also have display cases spread throughout the library with birds eggs that (if I'm reading their display cards correctly) are over 100 years old, and a copy of the Gutenberg bible. It's looks to be a great asset to the town!
