I'm happy to report that I was "disappointed" because I was greeted by a security officer who explained the check in ticketing process. After sitting down with my ticket for approx. 5 minutes, my number came up! The lovely lady at Window 11 was cheerful, professional, and answered all my questions and gave me the documents I needed! Thank you lovely SSA lady :) All in 10 minutes time!!! WOWWOWWOW!

She asked me if I was blind and that that was the employee parking lot. I told her that I was dropping someone off and that there was no need to be rude and disrespectful to me because I was not treating her that way. She then proceeded to tell me that she was from Russia (which I have no idea how that was relevant) and that I had no right speaking back to her. She said that she was going to lunch and that when she came back I'm going to see how she is going to sabotage my friends claim. She then got in her white Lexus and drove off. I arrived on a Thur morning 30 min prior to opening and the most wonderful security person was already outside making sure folks lined up appropriately, but also informing folks what could NOT get done at this location (no new applications for a SS card), as well as the things that could be done on line so folks didn't waste time in line unnecessarily! And it got better from there: doors opened on time, check-in orderly, plenty signage explaining processes, the same officer even came inside and explained where to find the stations and the bathrooms! Then when I was called, the representative not only addressed my issue, but took time to explain other aspects of SS that were available to me! I have been to a number of SS offices in the Philly area and this was BY FAR the best experience. Did I mention I was out within 35 min? Only issue: street parking is limited, but office is assessable by SEPTA. This is my go-to office from now on! Make it yours

On Tuesday April 14th, 2026, there was a troubled (or homeless) man at William McKinley elementary…read moreschool 2101 N Orkney St. who had a dog come into the garden of the school. He was told the dog couldn't be there so he began to curse and insult everyone, and they had to call the police. For about 20 minutes they tried to lure the dog (who appeared to be friendly) to their car. There were 3 police cars at the scene (There's a "Citizen" app video that was taken by me). They tried lassoing some sort of rope around his neck to use as a leash, but they failed. I'll soon be moving so I have several pet crates for my animals when I do. As I kept watching, I realized that ACCT Philly weren't going to be there soon enough, while the situation kept getting more and more tense by the minute. So I went to my home across the street, got the biggest cage I owned and brought it to the police to grab the dog. I'll be as honest as I can be, most people didn't think I was an innocent bystander, they assumed I had something to do with the guy. They acted like the cage somehow showed up out of nowhere, not even a "thank you". Yes you read that right. They didn't ask me if I wanted my cage back. Must've thought I have load of things to hand out. But the worse part about it is that the McKinley school principal was there, the vice-principal also and they DID NOT acknowledge me or thank me either. For these people, it was business as usual. This is what our world is coming to. I solved a situation for dozens of people whose work was halted for. I did it because if that dog had bitten someone, the first thing police will do is SHOOT. There were children in that school. Someone could've gotten hurt. I'm sure that the homeless man got helped, the dog was rescued and here I am without a cage now I need to buy a replacement. I feel like I was totally invisible and completely disacknowledged. I called the police 26th precinct and they had no knowledge of the incident. Guy tells me "I'm certain your cage wasn't used to get this dog". I was appalled!! I put the cage there and the police took it and the dog was led into it. Eventually the guy said "ok, well... it must be at ACCT Philly". I had to call animal control to see if my dog-cage is there. They left me on hold forever and I need to call again tomorrow I feel I was robbed of a dog cage that costs $80! This is what the police has come to.

The only issue was they only had availability 45 days out. When I arrived the day of the appointment, I checked in and only waited about 5 minutes before I was called to a window for assistance. I showed my required documents and got my new card within 3 days of my appointment!

Getting ready to retire. Spent the past four months planning my social security benefits, pension…read morepayments, etc. I must say that dealing with the SSA has been an absolute NIGHTMARE! The rudeness, wrong answers, and general sense that some of these employees could care less about their jobs has been overwhelming. I was trying to do an over-the-phone application for benefits and I was disconnected with no callback! I was actually crying! Maybe their staffing has been reduced and they are overwhelmed, but this is no way to treat a senior citizen who has worked hard her whole life and is now trying to retire. Yesterday, Brittany from the Mt. Laurel Office turned all this around. She answered my questions, particularly those about retro payments, with a clear, simple explanation. She was pleasant to deal with. I did not feel like I was speaking to someone who was only reading from a script. I felt like I was dealing with a human being who understood my frustration and tried to help. Brittany, I can't give you a raise (I would if I could), I can only give you a pat on the back. However, if SSA has any brains in their head, they will find out what you did that turned around an angry, frustrated customer, and implement a better training program for their employees.
