Staff are always helpful and kind. The security guard is very helpful as well. He showed me how to use the use the check in kiosk. Bathrooms are always clean. Never had a negative experience at this office. And there is a restaurant which is only a 5 minute walk so I have something to eat right after my visit. read more

First time coming to the Social Security Admin office. Parking was ample in front of the building. When you walk in the door, there's a stack of new masks hanging on the left so it is required to come in with a mask. There's a touch screen kiosk on the right where the nice security guard told me how to check in and wait to be called. He was so nice he congratulated me on my marriage, which I guess he assumed correctly why I was there LOL There's public bathrooms located in the back. A large screen is located above the security guard's desk that shows current wait times and calling on the numbers to the respective help windows. When I was called to my help window, the clerk handled all my documents and paperwork. She did inform me there's a social security office in Thousand Oaks, which I did not know or see on the website since it only showed up a Ventura office (Ventura is further for me than TO but oh wells). I went on a Wed morning and it took a total of 20 min spent as a walk-in. It should take about 2 weeks to get my new card with my new last name :) read more

Small and cramped, a block of chairs lined with the windows where you are called to speak with a Social Security rep. If you drop in without an appointment, expect to wait awhile. There are racks of flyers that answer many commonly asked questions. When you get to speak with the reps, the ones I have had contact with were pleasant, informative and helpful. The ones I spoke with pointed me in the right direction and told me where to get the answers I needed. A dreery institutional setting, but what can you expect from an underfunded bureacracy? read more

We arrived at 9:25am to inquire about WHY the previously applied for SSN has not yet arrived. (We chose not to get an appointment; because without an SSN, you can't bank, matriculate, apply for credit or do much else :) ) We got our queue numbers and joined the masses waiting (30 in chairs provided, about another thirty standing up) At ten thirty the agent called my wife and our daughter's queue numbers. They were processed efficiently and we left the building at 11:00am with their SSNs. God is good ALL the time, ALL the time God is good. If I could give negative stars, I would. This office is a complete shit show of people that obviously hate their jobs and their lives. No courtesy, they are extremely rude short and seem just plain miserable. I am sole caregiver of 4 children, 2 of which have severe health issues that I am the sole caretaker. At the same time I have some very severe health issues going on. I should not even be out in public right now, but I needed to figure out what happened with my oldest sons SSI...which we rely on to survive. The man behind the counter was extremely rude, sarcastic and flat out accused me of lying by mis-quoting me back to me. When I called him on it he threatened to have ME removed because I spoke over him to state he was flat out lying...AND frankly, accusing me of lying to my face. I requested a manager, and refused to move seats until one came. Then was threatened to be detained if I didn't move out of the window I was called to which my issue was never resolved prior to HIS outburst. I told the security guard (whom I understand, is just doing his job) that I would not move until a manager came to speak with me or they gave me a time...he said 10-15 minutes. I keep my word and moved out of the window with that information, and am now currently sitting in the waiting room nearly 30 minutes later, still waiting on a read more

Walked in (after a trying day at work) saw a full room ... Thought great! the last thing I wanted to do was to sit in a government establishment and WAIT.. totally on the contrary, I proceeded to a Redbox type if machine to get a # just to replace my SS card. I was called in three minutes ,was helped with kindness and generosity told "ALL Set you'll receive your new card in the mail in about two weeks." read more

New location for Ventura. They're now behind the Government Centre. I highly recommend making an appointment or plan on waiting for up to two hours. The staff is very helpful. I never thought I would write a review about a government office but that's what I'm doing. Because I also care for my handicapped brother and we are both Medicare aged I have had several occasions to go to the local SSA office. Sometimes I have had an appointment and sometimes I haven't. I always take something to read or play on my iPad. I haven't found the waits to be excessively long. What I have noticed is the patience and diligence that the staff take with each case. Every person who has helped me has been friendly, empathetic and knowledgable. They are dedicated to resolving your issue or problem. It would be nice if the design of the building accommodated more privacy because you can hear everyone's conversations. Otherwise I'm very impressed by and appreciative of this local office. Trying to resolve complex issues is hard to do online and calling the 800 # can be difficult. Having friendly, competent staff right here in Ventura is very helpful. read more

I visited the Ventura Social Security Office earlier today to change my social security card to my married name. I was glad I made an appointment. The waiting area was packed! I had my form filled out in advance, it was free of charge, and was in and out in 13 minutes flat. 5 stars! I received my new card in the mail 12 days later :-) read more

You'll get quick service if there's not that many people waiting. First visit it was empty so they helped me right away. Unfortunately i didn't have the right documents to request a new SSC. Second visit there was a lot of people so I waited about 30 min. I got helped by the same guy. I give this 4 stars because second time i did wait quite a while, but its understandable the guy who helped me was super helpful and super nice. I received my new ssc in a week! read more

What a bunch of idiots!! It is amazing to me to call an office and listen to a bunch of crap promotions, disclaimers, warnings, scare tactics and bullshit when I try to set an appointment. Guess what... I have to schedule a phone appt. in order to schedule an office appointment. Government workers do half the work and charge twice the rate. The person who set the system up should have to listen to a recording of the calls for 24 hrs. it would drive them insane! ( But that's giving people that are insane too little credit.) read more

Object was to start my social security payments. I had to wait over 2 hours on their 800 number to schedule an appointment with the local Ventura CA office. Wait time for an appointment over one month. Thought all was fine. Received a letter from the Ventura office saying that I was denied SSI. Who applied for SSI, not me. I called their Ventura office to question the legitimacy of the letter. I talked to Eejada, an extremely unsympathetic individual. I explained that I had asked for an appointment to apply for SSN benefits, never talked to anyone about SSI, and certainly did not supply any information about my income to anyone, which, according to the letter, caused me to be denied SSI. Of course the household income would prohibit SSI. Therefore, I would be extremely stupid applying for SSI, which I did not do. I asked Eejada for an earlier appointment because of their letter which was an error. He refused, said I had to keep my original scheduled appointment. He was unconcerned about my letter and the blatant show casing of my social security number. I asked for the supervisor to this office and was given the name Balbibia. I asked for the first name and was refused, Eejada stated that he did not feel that Balbibia would want me to have her first name. This is the kind of treatment you will receive from the local SSN office. Also, they have done something to the phone so that one can barely hear the speaker and then they add static making it extremely difficult phone conversation. One gets better service on-line. read more

The happy review that made it seem like a 20 minute wait at this office is false advertisement! If you come with that type of expectation as I did, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment and failure. I, too, tried to make an appointment for a name change, but could not locate the main office so I called into the 1-800 SSA call center. They informed me that they do not set-up appointments and that I had to do a walk-in. So, I went into the office first thing when they opened at 9 AM on Monday and was not seen until about 10:30. It seemed like each customer took over 30 minutes or more to resolve, so the turnover is not fast. If you come here, you will need to plan to wait. read more

I had read these reviews prior to going into the office. I just stopped in to get the form to change my name and asked one of the open wiondows how I can make an appointment. "you need to call the 1-800 #, they are the master keepers of our appointment scheduling. You need to go through them. " ok no biggie, however the issue came with the 1-800# the rudest and laziest person I have ever met. This person Angie should not even be employed. "Sorry ma'am we don't do appointments. You have to just go to the office and wait like everyone else. - No ma'am, I have already been to the office, have already gotten and filled out the form, and have already asked someone directly about getting an appointment. She said YOU are the apointment masters and YOU are the only ones that do this.- (big long sigh) (scoff) Fine I'll do it... where are you from, I'm sorry but they do not have any appointments available. -you mean until the end of time there are no openings, whether it be next week next month or in 3 months, or are you just looking at tomorrow?- (louder sigh and a grumble) looks like theres an appointment available at the office near you at 930am monday. -Fantastic I'll take it. (insert angry voice) is there anything ELSE you need? -Nope thats it, bye. So the moral of the story is these people don't want to help and dont want to be there so you have to push them and insist that they do their job before they'll consider it.
