Relatively fast walk ins. Can't get info accurate for mail purposes. Bad business hours. Nice staff.

I never thought I would write a review about a government office but that's what I'm doing.

Suzanne was great and has a friendly smiling face gesture that relaxed the Jurors group. The 1 hour driving wasn't too bad except on way home. After 3pm was a rush hour, So 101 freeway was a mess with lots of offensive drivers. Overall, it was a pleasure to serve and will definitely do repeat if summoned.

The clerk, Elizabeth Arant, treated me with suspicion, disrespect, and zero compassion. She went out of her way to question and delay my paperwork, made extra photocopies of my ID for no clear reason, and spent 30 minutes walking around with my documents. Later, when I returned to check the status, I found out my license was never filed. To make matters worse, she sat nearby watching and smirking as I was told my marriage wasn't being recognized. It was cruel and unnecessary. As a county nurse myself, I work with people from all walks of life, including those incarcerated, and I would never treat anyone this way. County employees are supposed to serve the public with respect and professionalism -- not judgment or bias. I've tried for days to file a grievance and have been bounced from one department to another with no help or accountability. This experience left me devastated and completely disheartened. I hope the County takes this seriously because no one should ever be treated like this when they're just trying to get married.

Police quickly understood the neighbor was experiencing mental health issues. They handled things tactfully. ---- On another occasion I called them when I heard sounds in the night that might have been an intruder. They arrived timely & searched the area. (No intruder.) I don't live in a fancy part of town, and the police seem to be doing their work efficiently.

The Ventura County Sheriff refuses to enforce drunk and impaired driving laws when the offenders…read moreare California Lutheran Students due to the disgusting corruption they have built together over the last decade. Officers have gone as far as falsifying material facts about residents who attempt to report this crime -- a felony violation of PC 1181.1 (we're looking at you Brenda Chennault and Dan McCarthy). Students have also threatened residents with physical violence and attempted in one instance to assault someone using a vehicle. Police lied about all of this in a report and helped cover for the student by falsifying the year, make, model of the vehicle. In other words: perjury. All of this has been documented and the sheriff office has gone as far as to falsify information about residents who report -- a direct violation of PC 118.1. Calls to service are withheld in the form of police not showing up to check out the crime for over an hour -- something that only happens when the university name is mentioned. This is being done by design and in coordination with CLU's Security team. Deputy Fox who has witnessed this crime has been barred from speaking to the community and from enforcing the law. When asked about this problem, officer Dan McCarthy said, "This is just what college kids do all across the nation." This was recorded on camera. The normalization of drunk driving is a theme that goes from CLU Security's head who loves alcohol, to the Sheriff office who refuse to enforce the law, and carries through to city council who have laughed at this issue. Thousand Oaks is not a safe city anymore. The police have become the biggest gang in town. Dan McCarthy, Ogonowski, and deputy Fox should be ashamed of themselves -- but these men have no shame and don't give a damn about our community. The Ventura County Sheriff Office operates more like a criminal gang than anything resembling law enforcement and they should be prosecuted for violations of constitutional and civil rights. Video was shown to an officer of a student admitting he is impaired. When the police were asked to follow up with security or the student they said, "We can't go do a door knock or investigate this because they're at their dorms and that would disturb their peace." This is what we can expect from Ventura County Sheriff Office in 2026: CORRUPTION AND NEGLIGENCE.
