My husband and I attended a hand building ornament workshop with Jess who was so encouraging and even had my hesitant husband enjoying the experience and happy with his work! I've now been a member since May. Tom, the owner, has been helping throughout all of these different experiences. I have never met someone who cares so much about trying to reach people where they are and help them achieve anything they are willing to work to learn. All the while he works so hard and is successful at creating a welcoming, supportive, and collaborative community of artists. In the beginning I was nervous that I wouldn't fit into the environment... boy was I wrong. Tom makes such an effort to greet everyone by name and introduce new students and members to everyone. This fosters an atmosphere where people inspire, brainstorm and share different tips and techniques they have learned with each other freely. I cannot recommend enough taking a class at Three Ravens - you won't regret anything but not doing it sooner!

It's small (you can probably get through the whole place in a little over an hour), but it has a lot of cool stuff. You can look at paintings, sculptures, and textiles from all over the world - my favorite items included a collection of pietre dure works, masks from Papua New Guinea, and the Mesoamerican pottery. From what I gather, the museum also frequently showcases work by local artists as well. The suggested donation for adults is $3. Support your local museums!

There is a marvelous selection of strands and individual beads including Swarovski crystals in many colors. What sets Tinks Nook apart from most bead stores are the findings tables with many unusual and unique clasps as well as cord ends and other pieces rarely seen in stores. The selection includes an extensive choice of metals. Unfortunately it is closed on Mondays so I can't visit when passing through after a long weekend trip, but don't let that stop you from taking a trip another day. It was a very fun event, the instructor was very enthusiastic and was great at interacting with the group.
