Hands down the worst doctor out there. Very arrogant and doesn't take the time to sit and listen. He is quick on writing scripts just to get you out of the exam room. When he first opened his practice, he took his time with you and spoke to you regarding any issues or findings. Months later, that started to deteriorate. A while back I went in with a sore throat and I was given a Zpack. Two weeks later, I go back and he tells me it'll pass, its only a cold. Finally I went to another dr and was told I had a strep infection. I do go to that office to see another dr but never ever do I want to be taken care of this dude. read more

Healthcare in the states is a nightmare, we all know that. After working in the medical field for a few years, I sadly only had insurance for a few months, then not at all. During that time I endured high levels of stress, and dealt with an incident that left me with some PTSD and health issues, of which my job didn't really give two craps about. The past few years have been really rough on me, and it's been hard to get answers for what was going on. To be honest, it put me in a bit of a funk. I have to admit the waiting room in this office kind of gives me a bit of anxiety. There are a lot of older people sitting around gossiping, complaining... people answer their phones, eat snacks and chew loudly... I was sweating in there during my first visit, but Dr. Kangadis is great. He and his office staff helped me get great care (I even forgive the huge bruise I got after bloodwork, haha), get sent out for tests, and listened to what was going on. It's really hard to find that. He seems to be very busy (understandable!), but still makes you feel like you are being listened to, and cared about. I was referred to Dr. Kangadis by a friend of mine when I was looking for a doctor. She knew my fear of doctors and said that he would be the best for me. FYI I have a legitimate fear of doctors, it's getting better but my anxiety still kicks in. When I went to him he was so cool and talked to you as if you guys have been friends for years. If I had any questions he would stay and answer them and I never felt rushed or anything. What I also like is that he tries to make you understand whats going on with your body. I recently changed medical insurance. Dr. Kangadis was on the list of participating providers. I checked Yelp before making my appointment, and I am glad to report that the great reviews are well deserved. Dr. Kangadis is very amiable and engaging. I told him my problems, and he was totally on the ball. He has a positive attitude, but he's also a straight shooter. I read some of the bad reviews of the staff. My first appointment was on the Friday before a major snowstorm, which shut down the city. The office was trying to see the Saturday patients a day early. Was the office hectic? Did I have to wait a while? Of course I did, but I didn't mind. The staff was showing dedication to their patients, and I can't fault them for that. Also, they remembered me when I came back for my follow-up appointment, saying my name as I got to their desk. I liked that they emailed my prescriptions straight to my pharmacy, so they were ready as soon as I got there. Also, I shortly got an email summarizing my appointment, as well as getting the results of my tests via email a few days after my appointment. So, if you live in Astoria and are looking for a primary care physician, I can definitely recommend Dr. Kangadis!!! read more

After waiting for an hour Or more with an appointment just to get a flu shot I was told by the doctor that I shouldn't get a flu shot this season because last year CvS flu shots were making people sick and He told me that vaccines were all bullshit. I've gotten the flu shot every year and have never gotten the flu and since he discouraged me I didn't get the shot this year. Fast forward two months later when I am sick in bed with a terrible flu and having to miss Performances that I have been rehearsing for months for. Then I called his office to make an appointment to see if they could see me and he's out of town for over a week and then overbooked which is happened more than once. I am done with this doctor. He's either an anti-VAX her, didn't want to bother giving me the flu shot because he didn't feel like it that day, or they were out of stock. Either way I am very upset that I listen to him I would rather see no one than this person. He's a complete waste of time. I will never go see this doctor again. read more

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Kangadis. Worth the wait time, the staff is great. HOWEVER. The Langone appointed call center is a basket of uneducated, rude, uninformed high school dropouts, who have no business working with the public, but should instead be fired, and be given jobs that require absolutely no interaction with people. Something like sweeping sidewalks in the middle of the night, or clean public toilets, or a swamp.... Even so, I'm not taking away the star, because Dr. K is amazing, and despite the headache (literal) it will take to make an appointment, or attempt to communicate with those absolute dolts from the call center, it will be worth it in the end. Maybe we should all band together and ask Langone to hire better employees at call centers. I really don't understand the shitty attitude, how it takes over 30 minutes to make a freaking appointment, or how my calls just magically get "interrupted". Sure there can be a wait when you are there but I attribute that to he doesn't rush patients in and out, he spends time with them to hear what's really going on with them. Dr Kangadis is very nice and personal, but the office is a disaster. I've had to gone in twice and both times waited over an hour past my appointment time even to be brought in for more waiting. I was also not told the accurate truth about travel vaccines and referred to a place that charged a whole bunch, but was told that they would definitely accept insurance (they didn't). Trying to find a good primary care physician that takes Medicaid in Astoria is like trying to find a unicorn and Dr. Kangadis is that unicorn! I was recommended by a friend who is a long time patient of his and was happily surprised when I found out that he accepted my insurance. My first initial consultation was a very good experience. After the initial information intake, one of his staff takes down your medical history and your vital signs. Upon meeting him, I was pleasantly surprised at how attentive he is to details and his patient. He truly does listen to you and speaks frankly with honesty and concern. I didn't feel rushed at all as I have with some PCPs who make you feel like you're in a factory. He's an honest to goodness caring doctor. He also respects your own opinions and input about your care and works with you and talks TO you and not AT you. And he's very funny. He's very good at what he does. I recently had blood drawn and he did it personally because I have bad veins. Normally when I have blood drawn it's painful and I get light headed. He had trouble finding a vein in my arm so he asked me if he could draw from my hand, which I cringed at, but it had to be done. I can honestly say it was the most painless blood draw I've ever had and it left no bruising! Just a tiny little mark on my hand and it was over so fast I didn't have time to get dizzy, lol. He's very thorough and on every visit you get your vitals taken and are asked about any changes or updates on any medications you may be taking from other doctors. He's very open and frank when he discusses treatment for specific conditions. He's even personally answered emails I have sent inquiring about specialists as I search for one. He's very accessible and down to earth with a great bedside manner. Depending on the day you may be the only patient (weekday mornings) or the place could be packed (weekends). His staff is pretty responsive although you do sometimes have to "chase" the front desk for certain things, like forms that need to be filled out and returned to you or preauthorizations for tests like MRIs, but they're all pleasant, polite and very professional. One of his staff administered my allergy test with very little discomfort. They're always smiling and friendly. The waiting rooms and exam rooms are pristine. I believe there's a site where you can book appointments online but I don't know the name of it. He also can send prescriptions directly to your pharmacy from his office from his computer. It's very convenient. As long as it's not a controlled substance, which needs a paper prescription. I've left his office and walked home and passed by my pharmacy and had my RX waiting for me. It's a great time saver. All in all a great doctor and staff. I feel very confident with my health in his hands. read more

I Totally recommend! A real gentleman and a scholar! Very genuinely passionate about each and everyone of his patients health. Takes it quite seriously. I actually feel guilty if I fail him cause he Really cares and I'd hate to get that nod of disappointment he once gave me. LOL! Its more motivating than the actual disease that may kill me! LOL! He Doesn't treat you like a case number or another mark to bill and milk insurance companies. So I'm happy and have much confidence in him He's what every doctor should be! Not responding right away to my pharmacist when they need authorization from his office. In one instance it took about over a week to get a respond, and I had to do the calling ultimately since my pharmacist was only getting the voicemail, which by the way no one ever answers nor checks so it seems! :( I had to call their multiple numbers in order to finally get a real person finally! What if it was an emergency!??? I shouldn't have to go to emergency to get a refill for my BP and Diabetes meds! :/ His staff is either lazy or incompetent or both! Cause it sure isn't that they're short handed. In fact, they increased their staff ever since they became affiliated with NYU network. ANd instead of being more efficient, I'm affraid they've fallen behind in service response time and quality too! :? But the Doctor is Great though! But he does need to have a staff meeting ASAP to straighten them out and get that ship back in shape else he's gonna lose business with these girls I'm afraid who seem to be more concern with whats for lunch and whats playing on internet radio than to check the freakin ton of voicemail messages people have left on it! In fact, if you call now, it still has the old outgoing message created in JUNE saying the Doctor will be out fron Jun to July,....and we're September already!?? LOL! It feels like no one wants to be the one to pick up the phone or check these messages! The old outgoing message clearly is evidence of the staff not really giving a crap! Its a luck of the draw if you manage to get one to answer and when they do, you get the distinct feeling their trying to blow you off and not bother with your problems! I had been seeing Dr. KANGADIS for about a year and initially everything was fine, but lately I've had trouble getting my insulin filled. On Friday I called because my insurance changed and I needed approval from the insurance company. I was told someone would call me back on Monday. No one calls Monday. On Thursday, I'm out of insulin so I call the office back, but they don't have time to speak with me because it's almost closing and they're going home. I'm told to call back in the morning. Friday morning I call and I'm told that the Dr. wrote me a prescription for the covered insulin and that it was being sent to the pharmacy. I ask several times, to be sure, that this one is covered under my insurance and they say yes. Few hours later, I call the pharmacy and the prescription sent over was the same as my old one and not covered. So, the office has twice now sent over prescriptions for insulins that my insurance doesn't cover, the second time after I explicitly explained that it wouldn't be covered. Friday night I left a message with the answering service that I was completely out of insulin and needed to get some. I never received a call back. Saturday, I call during the hours the office is open and no one picks up. I leave two messages imploring them to please call me back because it's now been several days without my insulin and the automated message claims the messages are checked every hour. No one does. It is now over a week since the issue came up and it still has not been resolved and I require my insulin in order to live. I will have to wait two more days, if I'm lucky, for something that should've been straightened out without issue. I like Dr. Kangadis. I think he's a good doctor and a nice guy, but this sort of thing is unacceptable and I will be switching to a Dr. I am actually able to get on the phone when I'm having an emergency. It's people's lives on the line and his office needs to be more responsible considering the stakes. Ignoring your patients is just horrendous and disrespectful patient-care practice. It is not the way a Dr.'s office should operate. If my blood sugar spiked, I would've had no way to bring it down and could've ended up in a coma. All the office had to do was write a new prescription for the correct and covered insulin and the whole thing would've been resolved within a day or two. Instead, I'm stuck in a dangerous situation with no way to closely regulate my blood sugar. I could have gone into a coma if it went too high. And yet, Dr. Kangadis and his office ignored me. Chose Dr. Kangadis due to all of the Yelp reviews, and I can't say I was disappointed. He's a fairly young looking guy (kinda reminds me of Seth Rogan) and is down to earth. During the exam, he made jokes and appeared to be interested, as opposed to other doctors that look bored as they are asking the same questions over and over to every patient. He treats you with respect and does things out of caution and necessity, instead of trying to presrcibe every test possible. The office was pretty packed when I arrived, but when it was finally my turn he gave me his 100% attention and not once did I feel rushed. He was informative and understanding about my current (or lack thereof) insurance situation. We discussed the options for my ailment and I left feeling well taken care of. Honestly, this is the best doctor I have ever been to, I feel so happy to have found him. After 6 months of dealing with Advantage Care Physician bs I was so worn down and I didn't go in hoping for anything. At the beginning of the appointment I detailed my plight with ACP and said that I hoped that he could help me and he looked at me flat out and said "Of course I'm going to help you." He listened to me and never once told me to stop talking about certain things like the other doctors I had been to had. He probably spent about 30 mins going over everything with me, I wanted to cry because for once in 6 months I finally felt like someone would help me. Within 2 mins of talking to me he seemed to know exactly what it was (though he kept listening and asking me questions for 30 mins). When I was leaving he looked at me and said he was going to fix me, which honestly meant so much after all I had been through. I don't understand why people give 5 stars to this crap. First of all, it hard to schedule an appointment sooner than 1-3 months ahead. I was having urgency when I had to see a doctor right away but was told he is overbooked and I had to go to urgent care. Not a big deal but come on he is a primary guy and has to preserve some spot for urgent patients. Secondly, when he saw me he told me to go for a test I did not need but he said it will be a first step to move forward to do another test. I agreed. After the test was completed and did not show anything as expected I was trying to reach out this busy-all-the-time doctor or actually I did not even need him, I needed a referral for another study as that what we were talking about. I left a message over a phone I wrote him on my chart, no response. Shoot me if I ever going to see him again. Total waste of time. Forgot to mention I was charged about $200 for 5 min (literally 5 min) visit with no blood work done nothing but talk. read more
