I believe that this is the absolute best tanning salon in Westchester bar non. The staff are nice, knowledgeable and so helpful. I just bought a monthly membership and today was my 3rd time in. Today I got to use the famous top of the line MATRIX machine. Previously I had used the KBL machine. All I can say is that I was SHOCKED by the lack of cleanliness in this room. I've always found them to be emmaculate but was shocked. The base of the machine was covered in muck. The portable fan was so dusty it was disgusting and the dust bunnies in the corners clearly haven't seen a vacuum in months. I looked on their website to send my complaints and pics to the manager but there is no email address listed. I was hesitant to post because I adore this business but if I were a new customer.....they did not make a good impression. read more

Yesterday I took my friend to get a spray tan and the owner was working. We went in about 5:30 forgetting they close at 6pm on a Sunday and i immediately felt bad I didn't want to have him stay past closing on Memorial Day weekend . We both received an amazing spray tan but that was not the best part . My friend forgot her wedding ring at the shop and we were frantic. The owner picked up the phone even when the shop closed and thankfully found the ring. He was nice enough to stay after closing to make sure we picked it up. I am going to preface this review with the fact that I've been tanning for over 10 years so I know of what I speak! I've been to independently owed up to the biggest tanning salon chains in Westchester and NYC, and Solar Escape is HANDS DOWN, NO CONTEST, BEST tanning salon I have ever stepped foot in! You can't beat the customer service here! The owners John and Frank are the best! Incredibly knowledgeable and super accommodating, especially John! He knows EXACTLY what he's talking about, and he doesn't BS! He's one of the few owners I have encountered that will tell you what is good for you to get the results that you want, not gear you to buy what will make him the most money... Don't find that too often! The rest of the staff there is attentive and personable. They know you by name and your tanning bed preference, unlike other hyped up tanning salons ::cough cough:: Beach Bum! LoL The salon is always impeccably clean. Bulbs are changed well within the hours. And there's a bed to suit whatever your need. Want the Cadillac of tanning beds? Go KBL has multiple settings for bulbs, aroma therapy, etc. Need intense heat? S CLASS all the way (My fave!) Have a good base tan and want some bronzing action - Go Matrix! They have lay down and stand up. Plus more! Spray tanning is huge now for good reason! The staff who does the spray tans are all certified and do an excellent job! Now for those who don't like having someone spray them, they have a spray tanning machine! I was skeptical too until I tried it. I have had quite a few disasters with machines especially when they first came out. However the one they have actually takes a body scan so it knows where to spray and verbally gives you instructions and standing position directions before each spray. It's fool proof! And the results are amazing! You would think a person actually did it! The rotation of products is great, and they stay up to date with each line. If you like something extra ask to try the "Tuesday Juice" which is actually Tyrosine (Google it). I tried it, bought a bottle, and now refuse to tan without it... It makes a difference! They are economically priced. Always have package deals and promos. And if you don't want to buy a package, you can do $10 Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm from out of town and needed a last minute spray tan for an event tonight. I walked in and both John and Julie were so accommodating and friendly. The express booth wasn't working before I came in but they managed to get it up and running for me within a matter of minutes. They even walked me back to the room to make sure that it was functioning properly. I've never gotten an airbrush from a booth before so I was a little nervous, but Julie made the instructions very clear and showed me all the positions before I got in. That being said: if or when I do sit down to give a piece of my mind: you better believe that that company earned it. Truly pissed me off & upset me . The foolish-unreachable-no-contact-info- -cannot-be- bothered owner & his shortsided ( not the brightest bulb in the bunch) manager, both contributed to give me incentive to share about my experience at this salon. Know that an employees word mean nothing & that they can't be trusted. If you still Decide to buy a package: make sure that you take certain precautions. Make sure that you record the purchase process. Make sure that they state clearly what it is thst your money will get you . Get whatever they are luring you in with on video . This way you will have a record of what was said Snd by whom. The interaction I had with a not very helpful employee & the attitude I was subjected to when I went back the other day ( I was told that the package I bought for my daughter and myself to use, was evidently cut in half.. The salon did not honor the terms that I bought the package under. very upsetting. The dogmatic condescending ' self proclaimed duper duper business woman of the mostest was calling me a liar ( in every way but to actually admit that that is what she meant ) ' it's a business we are running here ' uhm yup and as such you have standards to live up to For instance: it's not cool to change the terms of a deal a customer made a purchase under after the fact The shortsided self proclaimed savvy manager of corrupt tanning salons. Sure as hell was not gaining any points with me . A cyst who brought them business. Not only from and by myself: I also referred other customers before this negative experience to the salon. The manager of ever changing policies and special deals that aren't special: is also a very passionate advocate for what she doesn't consider a big deal. Like an upset customer who she isn't making any sense to . She cares more about pretending to be right ( no matter how wrong that was) than listening and responding in a way that could have made the situation less wrong. she actually had the nerve to say that ( even though my daughter was using my first package as well as the second package without incident or any sessions under her name : the deal that the employee gave me ( buy 5 get 5 extra sessions) was not valid because I didn't buy it under my daughters name . uhm dhu There is a track record of proof (that my daughter had been using my & her sessions that were under my name ( she is a full time student who can't afford to buy much of anything right now ) the fact that I told them that the other employee ( who they refused to look further into the identity of (a small privately owned salon) & they could not figure out who sold me the package. I guess the business savvy manager of the year was not paying attention to small details such as what employee works on what day the manager insisted that those faceless nameless people she manages never make mistakes. That the employee would have made notes that should have mentioned the terms . The possibility that the employee forgot to put the appropriate terms of my purchase was not even considered . in case there is any confusion: I will once again reiterate the details of my unsettling experience. Where the owner evidently don't get involved in situations that could earn him some trouble with the folks at the better business bureau. Forget about him not giving a rats ass that I felt insulted Being called a liar and who cares if he lost another customer. Evidently his business loser manager believes in her boss. She believes that their company 'can handle bad reviews and upset customers who walk away never to come back I bought a package in September. Up until this point my daughter and myself had both been using my previous tanning package (buy 5 get 5 additional sessions) I asked the front desk employee ' ' if I could buy the next package for my daughter but under my name ( the salons policy is to give every customers first purchased sessions, doubled ) The female employee that I purchased the package from reassured me that' it did not matter that we kept the sessions under my name ' My daughter is in college and she doesn't have the means to buy much of anything right now. oh I forgot: I was told to leave ' if I didn't agree with their policies ' my advice to you who may be a new potential customer: go elsewhere. I had an event to go to needed a little color and the salon I had went to in the past closed early every day so I looked online and found this one. I actually showed up close to closing and saw a girl cleaning up through the glass doors. I asked a girl named Helana if I could at least purchase a lotion and tan for tomorrow but she let me tan even though I ended up finishing a bit after closing. helped me find the PERFECT lotion I don't know how I got so tan in one session lol I go to the back and every room was so clean I go in the bed And the bulbs were so hot they all must be like brand new it's amazing. I got a great tan and the girl was so nice I got a package there and decided to go more to get a darker color. I ended up switching my tanning salon Anyways since then I usually come in when a girl named Julie is working . She has been so so so nice to me every time I come in The staff really make a difference I must've gotten like 3 tanning lotions from this girl she knows so much about tanning and skin and how to keep your skin healthy. I got the worst sunburn of my life! It started already a few hours after the tanning and I am still red all over my abdomen and legs and have burning pain everywhere 24 hours later. Whatever part of my body I sit or lie on, hurts. I woke up repeatedly last night because of the pain. I have a fair skin type and was given three choices and chose mild, but it was anything but mild! I called a few hours afterwards and told them about my symptoms and was told that I was in a medium-strength tanning bed and that the owner would call me back. Nobody called. Not that it could have improved anything, but it would have shown some responsibility! Twenty years ago, I went a few times elsewhere and had no sunburn. It looks like the guy who was there doesn't know enough to make sun tanning a safe experience. This is dangerous! It is very uncomfortable and sunburns are a cancer risk! They should do further assessment of their customers' skin type - for example, ask how long they can be in the sun during the summer, and also take the season into account. It is late winter and except for my face and hands, I haven't been exposed to any sunlight for months. I cannot recommend going there at all! read more
