A literal nightmare from admission through move-out. Meals often took hours to arrive. During a winter ice storm, the heat broke, and we found my grandparents in their recliners with towels wrapped around their heads trying to stay warm. Staff regularly called us asking if we could come in and help because they were understaffed. We asked for shower traction strips for months for my grandfather (a fall risk) and were given nothing but excuses -- eventually told, falsely, that they "wouldn't stick." They also put wander guards on my grandparents' ankles without explaining them, which left visible bruises, and refused to remove them even after confirming my grandmother was not an elopement risk. Both grandparents went in on little to no medication and came out with several new prescriptions. They even moved them into memory care for "babysitting" without telling us. When my dad questioned the level of care, Chad, the regional administrator for Cardon, argued with him and bluntly revealed that both my grandparents had dementia diagnoses -- before any care provider had even explained that to us. It was rude, inappropriate, and confirmed how poorly this facility communicates. The administrator was dismissive and offered zero solutions. Billing has been a disaster, with duplicate statements and refunds issued incorrectly. After speaking with multiple other families who had similar horror stories, we decided to move my grandparents out of Solarbron and into our home. If you value safety, transparency, and compassionate care, look elsewhere. read more

never proper staff to resident ratio, your loved ones won't be taken care of by the awful people they hire. they have fired all of the good staff and the management is horrible at problem solving or even caring about their staff if i could give no stars i would. don't send your family here read more

Oh, where to start? From the outside, this looks like a good place. It's pretty, the grounds are maintained, but it's essentially a pretty cloak on a pile of manure. Our experience is probably colored by the fact that my mother needs a lot of care, which there doesn't seem to be staffing for. Let's just start listing the problems. This is what you get for $12,000 /mo. 1) The beds aren't even real hospital beds. There are metal loops on each side of the bed which I suppose are meant to keep the patient in their twin bed. Twice, I've seen my mother nearly off the bed, in pain, because the metal portion is putting all the pressure on her belly. There is no sensor to alert the nurses of this. You just have to hope the nurse or tech comes by if you are unable to call for help. Oh, and one of these has been broken on my mom's bed for over a week. If she were to roll over on that side, she would be seriously injured. 2) The staff changes units weekly, and apparently, they don't communicate the patient needs very well. It's like groundhog day. How hard is it to write down that a patient has severe arthritis? 3) How is the concept of non-verbal patient difficult? The competent people seem to realize that you need to look for nonverbal cues. The bad ones, they just stop by and do the bare minimum. When someone isn't able to alert you of problems, maybe you should take more care. And yes, they have a life alert style button, but she is unable to use it. 4) Is it asking too much for assisted living/nursing staff to understand peg (feeding) tubes? Too many people here don't know how to disconnect/reconnect or reset the machine to keep the alarm from going off. And it took them days to realize that it had come loose and everything they put in the tube wasn't making it to where it was supposed to go, resulting in infection, hospitalization, and placement of a new tube. 5) If you want something done, you need to pester and pester. To me, this has everything to do with not staffing appropriately. I'm pretty sure the staff is tired of seeing my family, but it's the only way to get anything done here, and even then, it takes a while. Once the staff switches around, it's rinse and repeat. And before anyone from there dismisses our concerns because they didn't go through the right channels, we have shared our concerns with everyone. Multiple nurses, head of nursing, multiple case workers, and still, we have problems. There is oh so much more negative to list, and honestly, I don't know if there is any place that is any better around here. There are several good staff members, but they are handcuffed by the way the place is run. If you want some free advice, here's how I would start to fix things: hire more good people. Can't find any? That's a sign that you're not paying enough. Can't get rid of bad employees? That's a sign of bad management. Get it together. read more

Terrible. Dirty carpets, walls, my fire alarm hung from a ceiling with a wire. Food is terrible. Staff rude to my family. Took up to 2 hours to answer nurse light told this was ok because Indiana Law says it good. Found pills on the floor and syringe. read more

Severely understaffed. My mother got sepsis in their care from a wound that was not cared for properly. The staff kept lying to us and saying that she was in good health and progressing in rehab. We finally got the truth when it was all too late and my mother was rushed to the hospital on our demand. If you want somewhere that has the time and ability to care for your loved one, Solarbron is not the place. I hope to make this so that no one else has to go through what we have. The pain of losing a mother is the worst feeling in this entire world. Especially when she still had life to live. There is no replacement. I would say that if someone needs long term care or long term rehab, this is not the place! read more

This is a very classy facility that is well ran. The building and grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. It has multiple great amenities, the staff is top notch, and everyone bends over backwards to take care of occupants needs. I highly recommend Solarbron. read more

My 88 year-old mother-in-law was very reluctant to leave her home of 40 years but within a month, she was comfortable and within two months, I don't think you could possibly get her to leave. The staff at the Point is excellent in every way and have done everything from helping her settle her cat in to making her feel welcome in every way. Make no mistake, this is a top notch facility -- the building, the staff, and my goodness, the food is over the top. Just like a fine restaurant, they have menu choices, tablecloths, napkins, and soft music everyday for lunch. This is an opportunity that I which my mother had in Missouri. Terrible. If you are considering this place for work or care- dont. Terrible working conditions. The administration is barely held together and lets so much pertinent info slide through the cracks its laughable. Constantly under staffed. They hire inappropriate people who make things more difficult for full time employees. They even refuse to fire people when they have proven to be disruptive, verbally abusive, and potentially violent. The worst is- they make all attempts to avoid valid, numerous employee complaints regarding working conditions , break times, payroll, and generally anything else that may require them to change how they run. After leaving on amicable terms- i am devastated by the deplorable treatment i have received from a company i devoted many months of exemplary service to. Shame on you. I will be taking this to the proper channels and filing a lengthy formal complaint. read more
