Coach Mark has created a welcoming, supportive environment where she feels encouraged to learn and grow every step of the way. Not only is she learning valuable self-defense skills, but she's also developing confidence that carries over into her everyday life. Knowing she has the ability to protect herself while building respect, resilience, and determination gives me incredible peace of mind. The entire team genuinely cares about their students and treats everyone like family. I highly recommend Evolve Training Center to any parent looking for a place where their child can build confidence, learn practical self-defense, and be part of a positive community. I came in as a brown belt specifically to train under Coach J Janero. His lineage through Rickson Gracie and the Ribeiro brothers resonated deeply with me since I started my journey under Kron Gracie. Making a move at that level is not easy. You do not change academies unless you are looking for something real. What I found at Evolve was next level coaching. Coach J genuinely cares about his students. He does not run a one size fits all system. He studies you. He understands how you move, where your gaps are, and how to refine your game. That level of individualized attention is rare. You feel seen, not processed. Training with J and Jane, who is also an incredible black belt and coach, has completely transformed my Jiu Jitsu. Their focus on efficiency, precision, and longevity is huge for me. I am in my 40s and I want to train into my 50s and 60s. They teach you how to push hard while staying smart. The culture is serious, technical, and supportive. If you care about growth and long term development, this is the place.

You will see kids, teens and adults all doing the sweet science of boxing which will make you want to better yourself. Fire in the Ring or "Ring of fire" has been a gym that I went to from 2012-2013 because of it strength conditioning program. Which actually lead to my cousin joining and fighting for the gym under Clyde and Cleo. The gym overall has expanded and when I began training there again mid to late 2021 and I was hooked. The vibe and aura of the gym gave you such surreal feeling that you know everyone here means business. You see different age ranges training at the gym to also amateur and pro fighters. The coaches are mostly busy training either the kids program or the fighters. The fighters tend to all train together. While as other fighters train with their own trainers. If you don't plan on fighting, the bags and weights are open for all. If you're starting out and trying to learn as an adult I would say ask the coaches and they will be happy to give a tip or two but mind they're mostly busy training the fighter and the kids program. Ask other fighters or members for tips and when you do perform. Someone will either give you the 'nod' of acceptance or they will come by and help you out. During the duration I trained there it was really all business in that gym. Everyone trains and no games. The gym isn't a Fitness boxing gym, it is not a place where the coach will stand in front of a group of people and talk on a head set while playing Zumba boxing. This is a boxing gym that's probably one of the handful of authentic boxing gyms left in The Bay Area.

I've been going to this boxing gym for about 5 months now and consider this my home boxing gym…read more I've been to other "fitbox" gyms that come nowhere close to the quality of instruction you get from the experienced trainers at B Street Boxing. The gym atmosphere is welcoming to all attendees and there is a strong sense of community among the regulars. As for the gym itself, there are lots of heavy bags spaced throughout the gym and two boxing rings against the far wall. This is a place where you will learn real boxing! Most of the gym goers here are men (there are separate kids' classes too) and as a woman, that has never bothered me. Everyone is respectful, helpful, and very kind. People practice good sportsmanship and aren't looking to "prove" anything. There are several instructors and I've enjoyed classes with every one I've tried so far (Eddie, Val, Ritesh). Each instructor has a different teaching style and area of expertise, so you can learn something from everyone. Boxing classes are mostly bag work, with occasional partner work. Every so often there is also no contact/light contact sparring in the ring. It may seem intimidating at first, but everyone here prioritizes safety, and it's nice to put the skills you've practiced to the test. Overall you get a great mix of different aspects of boxing to work on--punches, combos, defense, footwork, etc, all while building up stamina. Classes usually wrap up with core work or other exercises off the bag. You will work hard! Take water breaks if you need. The coaches here also do private training for competitive fighting, for those interested. For people looking to learn a new sport from instructors that have spent time in the ring, look no further. This is a safe and welcoming place to learn.

I tried out a few boxing gyms before settling here. The other gyms had nicer facilities and had…read moremore people (although I've ben going during working hours so take this with a heavy grain of salt). But for me, this is the gym to go to in the Bay Area. Why? In coming to a boxing gym, I wasn't just looking for a workout. Yes, I want to get in shape. But you can do that in any number of ways. I also wanted to learn how to box. How to throw a cross, a jab, how to slip, how to measure distance. In other gyms I went to, it's basically a Barry's bootcamp with a heavy bag. You do an exercise routine that also has some punching. And it's great exercise! But at B Street, you not only get a hard, hard workout, but also a lot of coaching. In my first week (which was free), they started by showing me all the basic moves. Where to put my hands, how to move my feet. When I got some gear, they showed me how to wrap my hands. And during class, they not only take you through a high intensity workout routine, but also step in to make sure you're moving your body correctly, keeping your guard up. You'll get time in the ring with the coaches to do pad work and feel what it's actually like to have to move around an opponent and measure out your distance (this is *very* different from bag work!). You can even spar if you want, but I haven't got to this point yet and will probably hold off until I get into better shape. The coaches are all awesome, definitely know what they're talking about, and are incredibly nice. They meet you where you are and work from there. They're not afraid to push you to your limits, but never in a way that's mean or disrespectful. The community is also an awesome surprise. Everyone I've met there has been really nice and willing to take a second to help out a beginner with some basic tips. No egos or anything, just good people trying to help each other out. If you get in at the right time, you can also see B Street's Amateur team at work! No shortage of talent at this gym. Plus, they only charge $125/month. The bang for the buck is definitely there. Tl;dr - If you're looking for a boxing gym that will actually teach you something, this is the place to go.
