Hit and Miss. The inn didn't have the reservation from when…read moreI called a month earlier. But the place was practically empty so we easily got a room. It turns out that they cater to oilfield workers (surprise!) and on the weekends the hotel is dead. So as we headed to the room, we were silently dreading what sort of a room we were going to have. But we were pleasantly surprised, the room is very nice. Everything seemed to be recently renovated so it had no scratch marks or dings you'd usually find in most hotels. The bathroom was just as new and had a very tall shower-head which is a great thing instead of the typical lowering your head to wash hair like most hotels. The room is also very spacious, having a kitchenette, a 2-seat dining area, a loveseat, and a king-sized bed. The ceiling is also remarkably tall - almost 11 feet tall or so (maybe its just an upper floor thing?). So if this is a hit & miss review, where are the misses? It's the employees. I've already mentioned that whomever took my reservation screwed that task up. But we had other issues as well. We had a room for Friday and Saturday nights. Come Saturday morning at 7:30am housekeeping is knocking at the door. Honestly, housekeeping at 7:30am?! Also in the miss section is that the hotel only coded our room keys for 1 night instead of the required 2 nights. Not a huge deal, but annoying since it required multiple trips to the front desk to finally get the keys to work. So the inn is surprisingly nice and I would recommend it (not that anybody is ever going to use this review for a pleasant getaway to Hardisty) but you have to work around the employees at the hotel... they're nice but not he greatest at their jobs.

The Ramada was our final hotel in a very long cross country move. The staff was amazing. They…read morehelped put us in adjoining rooms that were pet friendly. They were able to help us extend our stay when our moving truck was delayed, and went way above and beyond making sure we didn't have to change rooms due to the extended visit. They have been so helpful and friendly. The rooms are very nice and clean. Nice pool and work out room. I highly recommend the Wainwright Ramada!

Our Via Canadian train stopped in Wainwright AB, almost on time at around 4 PM on Day 3 from…read moreToronto to Vancouver. This was the last "get out and stretch" stop before Edmonton. Wainwright is a small town of about 6600 and is called the Buffalo Capital of Canada. I got off the train, while Gayle stayed on. Not only do I enjoy the fresh air (away from the smokers), but I like checking out the station architecture, even though the building itself was closed.

As far as tenting goes with a 3 year old, this campground was great…read more The tent sites are close to the lake and sheltered by huge pine trees, so our site was kept cool during the day and we had one shade. The grounds are extremely well kept and the wading pool was an added bonus. It was clean and well maintained. The campground host/maintenance man was out checking chemical levels several times throughout the day. The same went for the washrooms, they werecleaned several times day, and the showers were free! We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of August. They even have a little farmers market right in the campground on Saturdays from 10-2 in the Summer. It featured fresh baking, veggies and fruit, and some beautiful handcrafted jewellery. Service here was great! They responded to my emails very quickly and were ready and expecting us upon our arrival. A nice service was that if you paid for firewood up at the office, they actually bring it right to your site :) very friendly people! Also has an excellent playground that our little guy loved! Not too much in the town of Sedgewick, but if you golf, there is a nice golf course very close by. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and tent camp, this is a nice little place.
