This is a vast museum. I had no idea all these rooms existed on what seems to be a small corner of…read moreUniversity Circle. The carrousel from Euclid Beach encased in a glass sphere dominates the street corner. Two rides are included with admission to the museum. Near the carrousel on the main floor and in the basement are many cars. The basement has some newer models (i.e., 2000s), but the upstairs has models dating back to the carriage era. I found the electric cars the most interesting - how we have come full circle as the times change. A Goodyear blimp gondola was even on display. The basement also had a "Street of Shops" which appeared to be similar to what the William McKinley museum has in operation. Unfortunately, because it was my favorite part of the McKinley museum, Western Reserves' Street of Shops was closed. Ridiculously, a sign blamed lighting and a bumpy road for the closure. Enroute to the parking garage is the more modern part of the museum. There's a neat model of the Terminal Tower and a timeline on the wall from Moses Cleveland to the Cavs championship. Then covering a considerable amount of space are two houses. One of the homes contains general museum galleries, though the structure of the home and the gardens are cool in and of themselves. The other house, you can walk through or take a guided tour (free with admission). This house was a bit disappointing, as it wasn't restored or designed to resemble its original appearance. It has been used as a place to showcase period furniture and artifacts. So no getting to see how the family's whose stories touched this house lived. All in all I'm glad I finally took the time to visit this museum Not sure what took me so long, but don't make the same mistake.

Do you take out the permit, do everything by the book, be a good cub scout? Or do you, as most I think must do, try to cut some corners, hope the neighbors don't squeal and press on regardless, irrespective of trifling things such as building codes, and public safety, and permits? I fall into the former camp. I take out the permit. I pay the fees. I secure the insurance. I do the job right, then invite the City Inspector over for his little look-see. I do everything by the book anyway, so what's the big deal? Here's the big deal. I helped a friend who was installing a pool. He needed a little work done, nothing big, which required a permit. Fifty bucks is the minimum permit. But wait! You also have to register to be a certified contractor in the City. Cha CHING! Another one twenty-five. But wait! In order to be certified, you have to buy a surety bond for the city, that way if you totally screw up the job, the insurance pays for it. Not your liability insurance, which they also require. That surety bond? Another one twenty-five. So far, you're into your "favor" for three hundred, and you haven't even done the work. Here's my suggestion: Make the building permit FREE. Make it so that anyone can take one out, then crack down on the people who have no clue what they're doing and have no bidness doing any kind of contracting. The way it is now, only the cleanest of clean contractors even bothers to take out the permit, drop the money, have the inspection. Make the scoundrels pay.

I remember The Flats of the 90s vs. now, big change. Though I loved The Flats back in the day too. Of course, the Rock + Roll Hall of Fame calls Cleveland home. I've been a few times for various events. Everyone should go at least once. Cleveland has great museums and galleries. Tiki bars, breweries, restaurants, and chic boutique stores. Lots of off-the-beaten path stuff to be discovered. And of course, it's a sports town. So if that's your thing...

By luckily being in the path of totality for the Eclipse of 2024, you pulled it off. You managed to take what was going to be a nothing day and totally make it all worthwhile (throws beret or special 12312-2 glasses in the air). When I first heard about the eclipse a year ago, I had to pick my city and it came down to Carbondale, Indianapolis or Cleveland and I chose you. The light cloud cover changed nothing. The moon covered the sun and we saw the glowing white halo, and also some red spots - solar prominences. It was amazing that it was bright and warm and seconds later, dark and cold. I'm glad I picked you, Cleveland. You showed me a good time and I won't forget it!
