I took the ring that Saturday morning because I was going to ask her while we were camping. I brought it back the first day Nelson's was open again. She never even took it out of the box!!! When we went back to Nelson's to replace it with one she wanted, we found out what taking care of me meant. For those deceitful dishonest ppl it means once we have your money WE HAVE YOUR MONEY!!! When someone says, ah, we'll take care of you it insinuate that if you pay too much we will refund your money. They don't and they know it!! They should have told me about their no return policy instead. You can return something there however, a person only gets store credit! So I had to pick things out of the Jewelry store that equaled the amount I had spent on the wedding band. That was over $2800 worth of crap I didn't want or need! Like I said, when they have your money, IT'S OVER!! I wouldn't tell an enemy to shop there much less a friend. These ppl are greedy, they will lie straight to your face & smile the whole time they're doing it. So if you do buy something there, get the cheapest thing you can So they don't screw you over as well.

We had a horrible experience with Snook's! We purchased a Scratch and Dent GE Double Convection…read moreOven because it was in stock and could be delivered the next day. Due to area flooding stoves were hard to find in stock so we jumped on this model after being assured it was new and only had a minor scratch. Our salesperson wrote our phone number down incorrectly so they couldn't call us for delivery the next day. I called after not hearing from them and was told they'd come the next day. The next day the team delivered our stove and worked for over an hour to get it hooked up. The guys couldn't get a steady flame and told me they needed a pressure checking tool they didn't have with them. After an hour they gave up and said a tech would come look at it the next day. I asked if we needed to shut the gas off and they assured me the burners were off and so was the oven so we were fine. This was around 2 PM. The guys left and my daughter and I ran some errands and grabbed dinner. We sat down to watch a movie and we noticed how strong the gas smell was. I checked the stove again and everything was off. About 8 PM we were both dizzy and had pounding headaches. I opened windows, turned on fans and pulled the stove out myself and shut the gas valve off because my gut told me something wasn't right. It took hours to air out the house. The next day the tech came out and found that all the fittings in our new stove were set up for propane and not natural gas. Gas had poured out of 7 opening for hours! By law they have to mark stoves that have been altered with a sticker and this one didn't have one. This is so dangerous! We had Black Hills come out to check the line a few days later and make sure there weren't leaks (which there weren't) but they were appalled this had happened as it could have killed us or blown the entire house us had I not shut the line off. Snooks didn't have the natural gas fittings for my stove and told me it could be awhile for them to get them. I went to the store to talk to the owner Bill. He apologized and assured me they would do whatever we needed to "make it right". I asked if we could get another model but that was when we discovered several other units were also propane fitted and not marked. I found out their scratch and dent models come off a truck from Best Buy normally and they don't know what their issues are; hardly what I would considered a new model. The whole transaction felt very sketchy. I inquired about getting a brand new version of the same model and he told me it would be awhile for it to come in and despite only costing $300 more than what I paid for my unit, he said couldn't do that because he has a bottom line and offered me $100 discount on a new one. I was so offended at the lack of empathy he displayed when his faulty product could have killed my family. He said it could be a month to get the right fittings for our stove, negating the entire reason I bought the stove. I inquired about getting our original stove back that they hauled away the day before and just getting a refund. Bill suddenly said we will do whatever it takes and that they couldn't get our stove back, which made no sense. I left the store angry and upset. My husband called to see what could be done as I had gotten nowhere and Bill was incredibly rude to him and hung up on him! Magically a few hours later Bill called me and said they had pirated our fittings from new units and would install them after the weekend. 6 days after we bought the stove we had a team come with the correct fittings. They lost a piece in the stove they never found and dropped the tipped oven onto my tile floor at one point but they did get the new parts in. All the crew that came to our house were very nice and apologized for the mistake and for the way the owner treated us. We got to pay a high gas bill thanks to Snooks. I still feel we got a lemon. Bill never followed up or "made it right" other than getting the correct fittings. We will never buy from Snook's again and urge others to think twice.

A few weeks ago, when the temperatures spiked in the middle of winter, the pollen in the air really…read moreirritated my sinuses and eyes. My nose was running non-stop and my eyes were so watery. I needed a solution. I had done some research and found that eating local honey and bee pollen would help build tolerance to lessen the allergic reaction. I needed to find some bee pollen before Spring. Thankfully I was able to find Boernsen Bees. They are a local honey/bee business in Iowa. I was grateful that they had a website where I found that they sold bee pollen! Bee pollen was not always available at other businesses I found so it was a pleasant surprise. I chose them over other local Iowa businesses because their shipping costs were much more reasonable. I ordered raw unstrained honey which I've never tried and its delicious! The bee pollen tasted sweet just like honey! I also ordered the bees wax lotion in lavender and it is very moisturizing and smells wonderful. I haven't yet tried the strawberry honey sticks but I'm sure it will be great. I will definitely be ordering from Boernsen Bees again and hope to one day visit them in person. Thank you Boernsen Bees for raising bees and keeping them happy. I can tell you do great work because the honey your bees produced tastes great!

If you're looking for something outside the norm, check out the Scottish Links, the newest course at Brooks. The terrain is gorgeous and pretty different looking, with rolling hills and bent grass fairways. Personally, I like to hit a bucket of balls at the driving range rather than commit to 18 holes. :) I'm also fond of the red Brooks golf carts and a G&T at Bud's Pub after. FYI, Brooks is the only 4 1/2 Star Golf Digest rated course in the Lakes area. Brooks was also named one of the top 5 courses to play in Iowa by Golf Week Magazine. Play with the locals- golf Brooks!
