Mason is always on point--super easy to talk to, knows exactly what's been working on the water, and actually helps you dial things in instead of just ringing you up and sending you out the door. It's the kind of place where you feel like a regular even if it's your first time in. Good people, good advice, and everything you need to have a successful day fishing. Definitely worth stopping in before you head out.

Sunday hours during my visit were 12-3, and whenever I choose to go, I always check when they're open. This time around, the 50% plus $1 area was brimming with clothing and in my size! I left with 2 nice University of Okoboji branded shirts and a comfortable Marmot jacket. I wandered the non-sale areas as well, as this place has always been an "at home" experience. The course conditions on the front weren't bad, but the experience completely falls apart when you realize you're paying full premium price for a course that isn't even playable as intended. For nearly a hundred bucks, golfers expect a finished course, not detours, torn-up fairways, and the feeling you're being overcharged. Right now it feels like they're cashing in while giving a half finished product. If you're thinking about playing in Okoboji, I'd suggest waiting until the back 9 is complete or checking out other local courses where your money goes further.

We had previously determined to purchase a competitor's boat. I knew very little about Regal Boats except my neighbor, who I truly respect, just bought one. After a short walk through a Regal on display, it became apparent to me that maybe I should pump the brakes on our purchase. I did a deep dive into Regal. It was obvious that the build quality was equal or exceeded their competition. Customer satisfaction is among the highest in the industry. I also noticed Oak Hill's boats were more than adequately powered. I grew up on the lake and there is nothing that kills water sports more than an under powered boat. Also, a heavily loaded, underpowered boat can have difficulty getting up on plane. With Regal's FasTrac Hull that is never an issue. After looking at multiple dealers, it became apparent to me that there was a plethora of new, in stock, under-powered boats being sold in the lake's region. As a dentist I tend to over study everything. I certainly did that with this boat purchase. One evening I was reading about Regal Boats and their history. The company is family owned and I understand carries no debt. I was reading this at a time when some manufacturers were going out of business. The boat I owned had been orphaned. The solvency and stability of Regal Boats matters when you're looking for parts and need support. All this regarding Regal Boats definitely factored into my decision-making process but one thing absolutely stood out. Regal as a company is distinctly different than the rest of boating industry. The company was started by a man who dedicated his company to honoring God. The company was founded on Christian family values. I remember thinking... Regal Boats are absolutely the best-looking boats on West Okoboji (so stated by a competitor's staff ...and my wife), possibly the best built, Oak Hill has an excellent reputation, and the manufacturer prioritizes family values. I wondered why would I even consider buying anything but a Regal? I bought the Regal and I could not be more confident in my purchase.
