We had our wedding reception at this venue. The property is really interesting and the view of the Oslo fjord is fantastic. It is self-catering, and there is no on-sight staff. If you are considering holding an event here, there were a few things in hindsight that would have been nice to know; mainly that there is no clear standard of what is expected in terms of post event cleaning-up. If management is not satisfied with your attempts to clean/ tidy, you can expect a steep and unreasonable fine. Additionally, getting our deposit back was a bit of a battle and took longer than we feel it should have. There are guest rooms upstairs, several were in s state of slight disrepair, (specifically, broken sink, one bathtub had a problem), There are keys to the guest rooms, however, there was no organization, and after trying to figure out what keys went with what room, and realizing we only had one match, that was sort of annoying. These issues regarding the venue itself really weren't a big deal, but considering how much it costs to rent the venue, we questioned what our money was being used for if not keep the place in order. Overall, the most serious grievance would be with management. Perhaps to management the deposit wasn't a lot of money, but for us it was huge chunk of our budget, and having to argue about minor cleaning details in order to get our deposit back really sullied our opinion of the place. Therefore, I wouldn't discourage people from doing business with Solstua, but be prepared to deal with some post-event hassle, and insist that management inspects the property before you turn in your keys to avoid extra fees. read more
