I went to Katrina for a…read moremeeting to see if she could help me with a time sensitive situation I was dealing with, regarding the stock issuance of one of my companies. I talked to a gentleman who was Katrina's assistant at first, and he had no idea what he was talking about because he was new. He recommended I schedule a meeting with Katrina and I did. When I got to her office for the meeting, I sat in her waiting area in a suit for about 30 minuets past our scheduled time (not a good sign, should of walked out right then and there.) After she finally got to me, we basically talked for about an hour about how she couldn't help me. In the end we got nowhere and she recommended me to see an attorney because she "couldn't help me" so I scheduled a meeting with the attorney she recommended. He didn't have an opening for 2 weeks which was pretty inconvenient because this was critically important. Note: She also didn't even want to file my tax returns? When my meeting finally came around, his assistant called me 2 hours before the meeting and canceled. Now we were three days out from some seriously bad stuff that could have happened. So they left me scrambling to find another attorney and CPA as fast as possible which is not easy. This is where it gets really nasty, two and half months later, after never hearing from her again, I get a $475.00 invoice from her... Shocked, I emailed her and said "this has gotta be a mistake? You did nothing, gave me bad information, never contacted me again and recommended me to someone who cancelled on me in one of the most critical times in my businesses history!!" She emailed me back with an extremely rude, sarcastic and stilted response telling me how she thinks she deserves this money for doing nothing and how I'm in the wrong?! It was ridiculous. I explained that her rude email frustrated me to no end and that she is insane for thinking she deserves this money, especially after what she said to me. Plus, originally it was supposed to only be $225.00. (She didn't even deserve that!) All she did was explain how she couldn't help me. She is a typical scam artist. I gave her three chances to apologize for the immature way she handled this situation, how I'm the customer, (she may have even gotten my money if she wasn't so unprofessional and apologized for being so rude.) But she rudely kept arguing with me like a child. And she is still sending me invoices everyday, it's almost weird? If I 'EVER' in a Million Years, dealt with a customer like this, I wouldn't be in business. Do not ever use this office!! Now I have a book keeper, a CPA, and an attorney who have helped me get everything fixed in a timely manner. For the hours they spent actually helping me, they charged me a fifth of what Katrina tried charging me to explain she couldn't do anything for me!! If she doesn't leave me alone, the next step is filing a formal complaint with the BBB, reviews on Yelp, Angie's list and her businesses Facebook page. I never write reviews because I know how detrimental they can be to a business, but if this is how she treats her customers, or people in general, than she does not deserve to be in business!

Katrina Lucero herself reviewed our returns, quickly identified the problems/errors, and suggested amending several years of tax returns which allowed us to receive refunds of overpaid tax mostly from my stock options being taxed twice, once by my employer and the second time on our erroneously prepared tax retuens. We interviewed several CPAs and tax preparers before Katrina and not a single one caught the issue with our stock options. Katrina is one of the most trustworthy intelligent and hardest working business owners we know. She is professional and reserved but very friendly and nonitimidating. Her strengths are efficiency, accuracy, detail, educating, and fighting hard for clients like us. Ms. Lucero is definitely runs a busy office but that's because she's good at what she does. She has a lot of experience and knowledge. We have personally witnessed her take time for clients who are not scheduled or who call at the busiest times demanding they take her focus away from other clients. She has a strong will but is always pleasant and reserved. Her fees are VERY reasonable and we've never had any problems in almost 10 years as her clients. Any reasonable person knows you are paying for a CPAs knowledge and time. They are not cheap. Just know you get what you pay for - just like we sure did before we met Katrina. My wife and I are VERY happy clients!!!

Was a great tax preparer for years for my ex wife and I. In 2014 she failed to file forms pertinent…read moreto a HSA account of mine. Subsequently I was fined by the irs. I was then informed she called the irs and sent in a form needed to resolve the issue. When I asked for a copy the form was only partially prepared. The irs obviously did not accept the amendment. She then informed me there was nothing I could do and should pay the penalty. Also informed me I will likely be penalized like this as long as I have an HSA because I make too much money. In my tax bracket the HSA bestows no benefit!? I called and resolved most of the issue with the irs myself, filing all required documents and got 86% of the penalty forgiven. This tax preparer will collect your money and be very pleasant about it but if issues arise she will not help. Don't use if you have an HSA account, she did not know how to manage HSA's in my case. Also asked her to provide past returns. She returned some but not all requested and now will not take my calls. Only use if you expect to resolve any irs issues on your own.

When we went to get our documents back, they held them hostage, not wanting to return them for a vague reason. I would NEVER recommend that anyone go to these accountants for any type of help. She offered to send me "close of business" paperwork and then charged me $25 for finding the online resources that are free. When I disputed the charge she said she did want to argue with me.. Dawn did work on my quickbooks which should have been for Dec and Jan but she make sure to do a few simple things 6 days into February to charge me the flat rate of $47 for phone calls, stationary, and postage/mailings even though there were no phone calls, stationary, or postage to charge for. They claimed they would come along side me to help get my taxes filled with a CPA but failed to follow through. I could not get the main accountant Bob on the phone when I ran into problems with the services provided by his associate Dawn. Terrible experience with these people.
