Most Czech public restrooms are dreary and cost 10 or 20 Czech kroner. That's about 50 cents or $1 per visit. This is the nicest public restroom we saw in Eastern Europe and it's free! This branch is newly opened in the new shopping centre Quadrio (conveniently located right above Narodni Trida line B p yellow line - metro station) at -1 floor right on the left side of the escalators. Similarly like the other branches, it has a decent selection of pet supplies for dogs, cats, small rodents and fish. They usually carry a decent range of variously priced products in each category, so every pet owner should find something suitable regardless of financial limitations. As a huge catch for the passing children (or who are we kidding - any pet-enthusiastic adults), this branch also houses small pets on sale - when I was there, I saw rats, mice, hamsters, rabbits, and some small birds. And then, the star of this Quadrio store - the cockatoo Chiquita. I wondered whether I should mention Chiquita, as he might be sold any day and is as such not a permanent fixture at this store. However, he's been a resident there for about four months, and I figured he might stay for a while, so I simply gotta give him a shoutout. This parrot has so much personality and is so much fun to be around - he's really a reason for me to stop by in this pet shop even when I don't need anything, and just have a relaxing little break from my busy day :). From the people I've seen stop by, I don't think I'm the only one. Also, it's lovely to watch the staff interact with this parrot - when they take him out of the cage and play with him or when they talk to him to keep him entertained, you can see how fond they are of their semi-permanent resident, and that they are people who truly care about and understand animals. This is hugely important for a store which gives advice to new pet owners and sells live animals - so I am really glad to see it here, and pleased to say that I would trust this Pet Center branch if I had to pick a new fuzzy friend there.

I heard several locals say they hated the building since it doesn't mesh with the city's architecture. I worked out of it for a little bit and overall enjoyed it. There's several shops available, including an Albert, as well as a mini food court, where you could buy salads, Mexican, or Asian quick eats. In the open greenery area, there's also access to a really nice and welcoming Starbucks outpost. It's no Palladium, but I think that's a good thing. The Florentinum is an effective multipurpose space and conveniently close to the Florenc bus and metro stops.

Signage was slightly tricky to get onto the tram. There were automated ticket counters at the train station although it wasn't too clear which direction each stairwell was to get down to the local tram. The station itself is a combination of old and new, originally built in the 1860s in a Renaissance Revival style, named the Emperor Franz Joseph Station the royalty by whose decree the station was built. Its current facade on the upper level east side was built between 1901 and 1909, in an Art Nouveau style. It's the largest station in addition to the largest Art Nouveau landmark in the Czech Republic. The dome is a work of art and I'm a little sad I missed it, though the pictures look elegantly restrained in its details. Major work on the station occurred in 1928 when the station and train lines began conversion to electricity. Post WWI additional tracks were added, then post WWII--after competitions to select designs for a new station, underground railway and check-in halls--a new terminal building was built between 1972-79 including an underground metro station, the first of its kind in Prague. Additional construction happened to replace tracks 1983-94, and continued modernization and maintenance 2006-2017. Given the two different structures and about two dozen above ground and additional underground tracks, this station is pretty large and has multiple levels. Recommend taking that into account when arriving to catch your next form of transportation. Both entrances have loops in front of the entrances for vehicles to circle and pick up passengers. The Art Nouveau building is located at the upper level, and has a large adjacent car park in front of it (or really on the roof of the lower level), that doubles as a bus stop* for multiple local and regional lines, and pickups for ride shares and bus tours. Most major railway routes within the Czech Republic and connecting to adjacent countries stop here, and you can also transfer to metro line C Hlavní nádraží station (separate ticket needed--easy to purchase at machines in the metro station). There are plenty of shops, restaurants and amenities inside, though since the immediate surrounding area is a park, you'll need to walk a few blocks away to reach other stores, hotels, and restaurants, though all in all still very convenient. Overall I found the station clean, with clear signage in Czech and English, pretty easy to navigate. I read some reddit threads on the potential sketchiness of the park in the nighttime around the station; did see some homeless folks though also saw people that looked like they were sitting on benches and hanging out. Of course best to be wary of your surroundings in an unfamiliar city, though coming from NYC it was pretty mild and I didn't feel unsafe. *this is not the main bus station though, that's about 15 minutes walking north of the train station.

Of course, there are many boutiques all over town, but this multiple story building conveniently located at the bottom half of Vaclavske Namesti (Wenceslaw square) can be a one-stop-shop where both women and men can dress themselves from head to toe. The prices are on the higher end in accordance with the brands on offer. However, do watch out for sales, as during sales season you can snatch many a bargain for completely high street prices. When it comes to regular shopping, it might be a good idea to be in the know about the general price range of the brands abroad, as unfortunately Van Graaf has not completely escaped the Czech phenomenon of selling clothing for pricier than it is abroad. But still, I think that generally this is a great shop to get some solid wardrobe pieces which you want to last for long. There is a good mixture of work appropriate/more formal wear and trendy & casual pieces on offer. Especially guys will enjoy the big choice of shirts, with plethora of men's shirts greeting them right by the entry on the ground floor (often with good sales), and further pieces at the floor dedicated solely to men's fashion. For ladies, there is a good mixture of classic and trendy styles, and also quite a nice evening wear section (not too extensive, but it's a good place to start and get an idea if you are looking to upgrade your ballroom season wardrobe). The staff is always helpful and professional, even on the busier days when the store is buzzing with people.
