They called me at 5:30 one evening to state that my daughter has lice in her hair and I need to pick her up. I tried speaking to the supervisor but they said she left. The only way my daughter would have had lice is from one of the children there. I did not send my daughter for 2 days after that. On Monday when I bring my daughter in, EMILY had her staff accused me of taking another child's clothing. The same day when I contacted them later, they stated they found lice again in my daughter's hair and I need to pick her up. I came back to the center, returned their key and told them what an awful job they do, how they lie about kids and how poorly they treat children at the center. This is definitely not a place to send your child to.

I honestly fell in "trust" with this school at the first sight because of her passion, sincerity and knowledge. Secondly, this school offers a true Montessori program. Ms. Anahita is an instructor who trains new Montessori teachers. Both of her daughters are teachers. The classroom is well equipped with authentic Montessori learning tools. This place is not a real Montessor school but run more like a like daycare and still charge the premium Montesorri school rate $$ = $300 more per month than a regular daycare if you include early pick up and late drop off (7:30am to 6pm). She also pushes for you to have grand parents or someone else pick up your kids by 3:30pm and not later (odd). This place also does not seem that organized either when we ask if there is a daily progress report or schedule. Even other daycares provide daily progress report to tell you how your child is doing, what activities did he/she do or learned. Therefore, some Montessori School like this one is not worth the $$$. Might as well send to a regular to daycare and save the extra costs! lol

However, the tipping point for me was when my son came home with a large cut on his left ankle. He told me that he had fallen on concrete at a park during camp and had scraped his ankle. When he approached a teacher, asking for help, she shrugged him away, telling him that another camper had recently fallen as well and that she was handling it better than she was, and for him to "suck it up." It was evident that my son had gotten his injury tended to only an hour or so after receiving it, and this experience, as well as his time at the camp overall, left him with not only physical but emotional harm as well. This was the school's summer program, but if the camp was any indication of what attending the school is like, I would strongly advise against sending your children to receive their education at North Star.

The school has a warm family feel, so our children adjusted very easily. The teachers are great, and work closely with the students to help them achieve their full potential. My daughter graduated from the Casa (senior kindergarten) program in June, reading at a grade 2 level and had been introduced to grade 3 mathematics concepts. In September, she entered into a grade one French immersion program. Because Westbrook also introduces the kids to French, it has been a very easy transition for her. She took with her the drive for learning, and has progressed to reading chapter books, and writing her own stories. My son, loves Westbrook and shows a very keen interest in school. At 3, he's already recognizing short words, and enjoys books and counting. His learning style is very different from his sister's, but the teachers work with him in a way that works for him. Because it's a family oriented school, the Principal there, is very open and fair with the students and parents.
