At five minutes before closing time, my wife apparently calls JFK Liquor (long distance) and asks for a favor. Since I'm going to be stuck there for our Anniversary she asks them to deliver a bottle of my favorite bourbon to the hotel. They not only delivered the bourbon, they decorated the bag and had it there before I checked in. You can't find service like this anymore. These people really care about their customers. It was ultimately too salty for me, but not for my companions but they liked it. Sidenote: I will never look at shower caps the same after seeing it used (or something similar) as a cover for the popcorn when we took it to-go. Which I thought was quite clever. I made my own combination and it wad great. Wait time was about 10 minutes because there was only one staffer but she was awesome-serving those inside and in the drive-thru. I also liked that they let customers post things on the wall with sticky notes according to the theme they set. Cool place and hopefully it gets good traffic since it is off a main road.

Little did I know I missed the HQ location while I was in Houston, I know now to not miss it again. I drove down some back roads to get here, and found this huge store in a big box shopping center. I was looking at American Vodka and then I turned around to look at the opposite shelf and I almost fainted, this location had my favorite vodka from Russia, Khortyska!! I've been trying to get this sent to me for years. I spent some time in Ukraine before their last revolution back in 2011 and a guy that worked for me told me not to bother with Nemiroff and instead get Khortyska coming from a real bad ass Russian programmer, he was right. This place had all the brands of booze I couldn't find in Louisiana. I got some top shelf Rebecca's Creek, a bottle of Balcones Whiskey from Texas and my bottle of Khortyska. Sadly my wife consumed it thinking I got it for her. Which means only one thing. I'll need to make another road trip to buy some more. The staff here was really helpful, guided me to what I needed and there were some other Whiskey connoisseurs in the isle where I was that we chatted it up for a bit before I had to leave. On my way to the check out I grabbed some of the small single serve bottles to put on my desk at work to remind me where I need to go at my next earliest convenience.

This was our first--and last--visit. I made a mobile order ahead of time, thinking that might facilitate things. WRONG. Got to Swig ten minutes later to find cars wrapped around the building. But they move pretty quickly, right? WRONG again. They had a kid out with his little flip menu taking orders, one excruciating car at a time. I finally got to the kid, told him I had a mobile order, and drove on to the window. At the window I was inexplicably asked to pull into a parking spot in front of the store, where we got to watch employees dashing around in the store, dropping stuff and literally ricocheting off each other. I'm serious. At least that was entertaining while we watched car after car (that made in-line orders) get served and roll on through while we sat. And sat. Without exaggeration, our order (three sodas, pretzel bites, and mini cookies) took nearly 45 minutes. I'm pretty sure they forgot us. And remember: you. cannot. go. inside. So there we sat, watching the show. When our stuff was finally brought out to us, I handed out the drinks and the pretzel bites.......no cookies . At this point we could only laugh. And YOU CAN'T GO INSIDE TO FIX IT. I was going to just spin around through the drive-through and ask for the damn stupid cookies, but yet again, there were cars around the building, and after 3/4 of an hour we were so done. Swig got our cookie money but they lost customers, not just because of the wait time fiasco (this is SODA ffs), but because to top it all off the sodas were awful. This isn't sour grapes or having to wait too long. They were grotty. If you like sugar on top of your sugar, and paying $30 for it, this is your jam. These drinks were so incredibly sweet they were inedible. There was no nuance or flavor profile...the menu made them sound so good, but the reality is you just taste genuinely epic (and not in a good way) amounts of sweetness. It all blends together--until it doesn't. Even with all the ice they aren't appealing. Five minutes later all the drinks had separated with clear liquid on the bottoms of the cups. Just...yuck. I can see 13-year-old kids swooning for this stuff, but if you have any sort of an adult palate whatsoever...you've been warned.

They do this online and then say they donate a portion of the proceeds to a Veteran charity named on their site. Price gouging or "secondary pricing" as they call it is just wrong. I can't recommend a store that does that to its customers.
