The new Sonic Brunch Burger. What it's suppose to look like vs what it actually looks like.

The food here is hit and miss. Mostly miss. Below are pictures of what it's suppose to look like vs what it actually looks like. Unfortunately, Watonga is a small Westetn Oklahoma oil town and there's not much to offer in choices. This sandwich was horrible. The hamburger bun was so thin it only had one side, the bun was mashed flat and the egg was burnt.

I just gave the place 2 stars for always being nice (most times) and for having public restrooms where some Sonic's don't. I've been coming to this Sonic for years and am always in hopes that it will improve. I do know that the manager and employee turn over rate are quite high, you'd think that at least one manager would get it right and really fix all the mistakes. They really need to take more time training their employees. Everytime we come they either forget some of our food, bring out extra food that they charged us that we didn't order or forget other items like spoons, straws, or condiments that we requested. On the plus side they will correct their mistakes with food, free drink tokens, coupons or I've even received a gift card. Today we ordered 2 #1 combo's with mayo, the first with tator tots and a chocolate shake, the second with french fries and a strawberry shake, last an order of the new Tachos along with 6 ranch and some ketchup, not too complicated right?. The monitor was working in our spot, not like some of the others around us, but it didn't show our order nor did the option to pay by card show up. I was going to have to give my card to the car hop which I was really hesitant about. He came out with our order and two extra soft drinks. I told him the extra drinks weren't ours but I did notice that we didn't get the condiments. He said the drinks were probably some else's and took my card and said he'd be right back out with it and the ranch and ketchup. When he returned I quickly scanned the receipt to make sure we wasn't charged for the extra drinks and then my daughter told me we didn't get spoons for the shakes. We tried to suck them through the straw but they were too thick. Always time consuming and extra foot work for the car hop. I had to push the button again..then we waited and waited after no word and even more time spent, we just gave up and decided to just go through the drive thru. I should've known this was going to take awhile even though they weren't busy at all. I pulled up to the window and asked for 2 spoons. The employee gets them then holds them back when I went to reach for them and says "How would your husband feel about this!" REALLY!!?? My husband would say give me the damn spoons! I really wasn't in a joking mood. My husband won't even go to Sonic because of all their mistakes, the time waisted and the fact that they don't wear gloves when preparing the food. Our son had worked here for about a month and told us that they don't have to wear gloves because they have a mandatory hand washing regimen. He won't even eat here, because that's just not hygienic and disgusts him. The last time we were here the car hop came to our window twice with two different orders, even asking if we were sure they weren't ours. I kept thinking that food was going to be cold by the time they find the right car. I guess I just come when I want something different and this place is not very often at all. We just don't have too many places to eat in this town, I really need to stop putting myself through this though.

From the outside, the branding leans heavily into the Route 66 identity--logos are everywhere, setting the expectation for a nostalgic roadside dining experience. Stepping inside, however, the atmosphere takes a different direction. Rather than embracing classic Americana, the décor feels modern, highlighted by whimsical cow artwork adorned with flower crowns. It's charming in its own way, but not the vintage Route 66 ambiance I was expecting. One thing that deserves high praise is the cleanliness. The café is immaculate, from the dining room to the overall presentation, reflecting a team that clearly takes pride in maintaining the restaurant. The food, unfortunately, was less memorable. The oatmeal was overly thick and dry, lacking the creamy comfort you'd expect. Buttered toast carried an off flavor, suggesting the griddle or butter station could use a refresh. The signature pancake, dusted with a powdered sugar "66" logo, was visually appealing and easily the meal's most Instagram-worthy item, but it too was disappointingly dense. Where Cafe 66 truly shines is its service. Every staff member I encountered was warm, welcoming, and eager to help first-time visitors feel at home. Their hospitality left the strongest impression of the visit. In my opinion, Cafe 66 seems to be transitioning away from being a destination built on Route 66 nostalgia and toward becoming a dependable neighborhood café for the Clinton community. There's nothing wrong with that--in fact, it's probably the more sustainable business model. But travelers seeking an authentic trip back in time may leave feeling that the iconic branding promises more nostalgia than the dining experience ultimately delivers.

Water, Orange Juice?-" I said do you have lemonade and she said no, okay that's fine but she said it in the possible most oddest way ever. After that interaction and I got my drink, she left; nother person came and asked what we would like to eat (this was 10 minutes after our drink) , I then said I would have a side salad and mac n cheese. My mom across from me said she has friend chicken, after we gave our order we then waited 30 MINUTES...for a SALAD. Thing is I didn't mind but when I tried it, it really did taste like grass and incredibly earthy and odd and that's when I wasn't exactly happy when I waited for a extra earthy salad... My mac n cheese came, it was delicious!!!!! 15 minutes after this, my moms food came and she said it was really good too. See we loved our food besides the extra earthy salad and almost 45ish minute wait time. On the other hand, when waiting we noticed our server and multiple others would get served before us and get asked how the food was, but not us though and that genuinely had me curious and ruined the whole experience. I love the conversations and the communication like as e.g. "How is the food?" , "How are yall doing today?", these are good things; it did not happen though and we got bluntly ignored. If you work in any restaurant jobs, please have good communication with your customers.
