The Eagle's Nest is located right across the street from the Watonga Middle School and High School, whose mascot is the eagle. The restaurant went with the school theme to create Eagle's Nest. It has a gravel parking lot and is in a metal white building. Their sign is painted on the front door and just inside the entrance is a painted Watonga Eagle mascot. Inside the walls are filled with past yearbooks and old black and white pictures of Watonga students and other citizens. The colors are just like the school colors black and red. There are tables and booths, we chose a booth to sit at. My son, who eats here all the time for lunch, ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with cheesy waffle fries and a fanta orange drink. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a sweet tea. It didn't take too long for our food to arrive. The waitress had already brought our drinks along with containers of ketchup and ranch dressing. I was kind of curious why she brought so much ranch. I know my daughter's eat ranch with everything and figured maybe a lot of the students do too when they get to leave campus to come here for lunch. The staff was all pleasant..our waitress checked on us once and then again when she exchanged the napkin dispenser at our table. The food was great and the tea didn't have an awful after taste. My son couldn't finish all of his but said it was really good. When we were ready to leave we walked up to the counter to pay. Our waitress cashed us out but before she ran my card she said she had to ask what we wanted to tip first. There was also a tip jar on the counter filled with cash. I wasn't sure how I felt about that but I told her to run it with a $5.00 tip. With the tip added it came up to $37.12 for 2 people, which is a little high for me, but all the food is good and the staff is friendly. So I'll probably be back, just not too often.

The c lumpia is really good. Lumpia is a cross between an grill and a taquito from Asia. It was yummy and came with "banana catsup." The Rueben Sandwich special was a fail. The meat was way overfilled for corned beef and definitely not corned beef seasoned. Or else I just got the heels, but the flavor was lacking. The "Swiss cheese" if it was that was like white American cheese. And the bread was marked rye instead of rye. And of course it came with the southern Rueben dressing of thousand island. SMH. Next time I'll definitely try something else. The sweet tea is sweet; I had them mix it 1/2 sweet 1/2 under and that was plenty of sweetness for me. But it was clean and they obvious clean their tea containers which is so important. The employees were so nice. I honestly wanted to give them 5 stars just because everyone was so nice. But I just honestly couldn't.

    We enjoyed every bite.

Very good fried rice & lumpia. I asked for hot sauce & really liked the banana sauce. Steve said his Eagle dog was good. Great food & great service. Don't let the outside keep you from going in, it's a metal building across from the high school...

This place is nestled at the corner of the Watonga HS. Nothing fancy about the outer appearance. As you walk in, along the wall are all the yearbooks through the years. Pretty neat! Service was absolutely amazing. I understand how busy they get during the limited hours but these ladies were amazing. Thank you again for taking my difficult multiple orders. The burger I ordered was delicious. I had it dry with everything, plus jalapeños. It actually came with bacon as well. Fries were subpar but good. I will definitely come back!

Cheeseburger to go, on our own plate, YUM

The food is great, the service is great, the price of the food taxes and all is where it hurts.

From the outside, the branding leans heavily into the Route 66 identity--logos are everywhere, setting the expectation for a nostalgic roadside dining experience. Stepping inside, however, the atmosphere takes a different direction. Rather than embracing classic Americana, the décor feels modern, highlighted by whimsical cow artwork adorned with flower crowns. It's charming in its own way, but not the vintage Route 66 ambiance I was expecting. One thing that deserves high praise is the cleanliness. The café is immaculate, from the dining room to the overall presentation, reflecting a team that clearly takes pride in maintaining the restaurant. The food, unfortunately, was less memorable. The oatmeal was overly thick and dry, lacking the creamy comfort you'd expect. Buttered toast carried an off flavor, suggesting the griddle or butter station could use a refresh. The signature pancake, dusted with a powdered sugar "66" logo, was visually appealing and easily the meal's most Instagram-worthy item, but it too was disappointingly dense. Where Cafe 66 truly shines is its service. Every staff member I encountered was warm, welcoming, and eager to help first-time visitors feel at home. Their hospitality left the strongest impression of the visit. In my opinion, Cafe 66 seems to be transitioning away from being a destination built on Route 66 nostalgia and toward becoming a dependable neighborhood café for the Clinton community. There's nothing wrong with that--in fact, it's probably the more sustainable business model. But travelers seeking an authentic trip back in time may leave feeling that the iconic branding promises more nostalgia than the dining experience ultimately delivers.

We said we would be back someday to stay and it's taken us this long to return. Roman Nose State Park, named after Cheyenne Chief Henry, is one of the original seven Oklahoma State Parks. A former Cheyenne winter camp, the park is set in a beautiful canyon, surrounded by gypsum rock cliffs. Roman Nose boasts a stunning golf course, stables for horseback riding, hiking trails, WPA buildings, an enormous spring fed swimming pool and two spring fed trout stocked lakes. The Lodge, originally constructed in 1956, was renovated in 2010 to reflect the natural landscape of the surrounding area and it is gorgeous. It has a Frank Lloyd Wright feel to it. There are 22 rooms and it has its own swimming pool. There's a gift shop inside and a wall full of Oklahoma travel brochures in the lobby. There are a few snacks and beverages at the desk. The park also has Cabins, Tee Pees and other camping areas as well as a General Store that handles horse, canoe, kayak, and paddleboat rentals in addition to feeding people with a wonderful restaurant! It's a long walk from the drop off point of the parking lot to the actual doors, across the wide lobby, and down the hall to any of the rooms. After checking in, which was seamless, we chose one of hotel style luggage carts and took it all the way outside. From there, it was simply no problem; but there is no one to help you with your luggage. You are on own as far as I could tell. We had secured our Lakeside King room online using a Senior discount. If you stay on a Friday or a Saturday, you have to stay both nights; but we were staying a Sunday. The Lodge is simply stunning. So much interior wood and rock and historic photos. We found everything to be very clean which was wonderful. I would say the pool was the highlight really. We were out there for an hour or so and had this great big beautiful pool all to ourselves. Sundays are slow apparently. It was a lovely setting with towels thoughtfully provided at poolside. Perfect. We were prepared for no microwave and found a community microwave out in a hallway alcove. With only a few people staying there on Sunday, I was okay with it; but really would have preferred one in our room. We slept well. There's a ceiling fan and room darkening blinds. We were very comfortable. We did discover the next morning that the coffee maker didn't work. It wasn't a big deal as there was fresh coffee on a utility cart out in the hallway. We had missed a continental breakfast from 6 - 9. Probably our loss. The description from the desk had sounded pretty yummy; but we slept in. There is a closed restaurant where the communal living room with fireplace and deck entrance used to be. Honestly, that was disappointing to see; but we were allowed deck access through a large meeting room. The view from the deck is terrific. A sweet place for coffee, unfortunately the umbrellas aren't up. Still, the tables and chairs are in use. We checked out and drove up canyon to the General Store for lunch. I've reviewed that, too. Scrumptious burgers! We love this park and the Lodge! It's an Oklahoma treasure. https://www.travelok.com/state-parks/roman-nose-state-park

Nothing looked at all old or crusty the way you have to expect some diners to be. There was good music on, and just loud enough to hear and not overpower a conversation. We were seated quickly, they wiped the table down for us- we were greeted and served promptly and nobody left us hanging very long. If our waitress was busy, someone else would come by and check on us. Everyone's food looked great and the orders came out correctly aside from asking for CRISPY hash browns. I had the eggs Benedict. A little overly preached on the eggs and the hollandaise sauce had a pretty sharp tang (people either use lemon or vinegar for that so it's obviously going to be PRESENT sometimes) but I've never met an egg or a potato I didn't like and I've had hollandaise a thousand times, no two are the same, so this not a complaint just info for the customers. All in all I'd definitely eat there again.
