If I could give Sonya's 10 stars I certainly would! Sadly, we came to understand what a tremendous business this is as a result of the loss of my brother at the end of June. When we went in to order the flowers, my mom was having a very hard time, and the compassion that was shown her was truly extraordinary and above and beyond what one would expect. Kindness yes, but such personal care was unexpected. They even agreed to keep the flowers for the couple of days between the viewing and the funeral and just made everything so very easy. On top of all that, the flowers were beyond beautiful. Just the most tasteful spray and arrangement that truly reflected our requests and honoured my brother. So, that in and of itself sounds like a 10 star review right? Well, it gets better... I had a call from my mom last week, and she was upset, because, all the flowers had been removed from my brother's grave. A glass vase filled with fresh cut flowers, what remained of the spray and a bunch of roses that had been dropped off by various friends and family members. I went to Sonya's a couple of days later to order some fresh new flowers, similar to the funeral arrangement because it was so beautiful, and again I was met with just the most compassionate service. Order placed, I waited for the call to tell me when they'd be ready and they called back the very same day to tell me I could pick them up on Saturday. Today, I went to pick up the flowers, and she was telling me that the vase was refillable and had a spike in it to secure in the ground, and then wished me well. When I told her I still have to pay for them, she said "No you don't, what do a few flowers cost me" and well of course, I just burst into tears and gave her a big hug. People and businesses like this are rare these days, but I am so glad I stumbled upon this one. At a tragic time in our lives, the genuine kindness of the people at Sonya's has really touched us all and I will forever be their biggest fan... so go buy your flowers there from now on OK. So yesterday I have ordered flowers from Vancouver for my best friend bday in Winnipeg, the flowers supposed to be deliverered yesterday, which they didn't. I called today asking why and I have been told that they have not because my master card did not work, but they had my phone number and yet no one called, they said why would we call you back if your card did not work, haha nice service, where is the customer service, very not impressed. So I called different place in Winnipeg and despite Mother's Day and how busy they are, they will deliver it. read more

I have always gone to Sonya's for flowers. So when I needed to order flowers for my Father's funeral, I naturally went there. I went in and talked to Sonya. She was very understanding and helpful when I explained why I was there and what I was looking for. I told her I definitely was going to go with her for the flowers for the funeral. I said I would be back on Friday to tell her how many red roses between (8 -12 roses) we were going to go with. Unfortunately, our meeting with the minister went longer than anticipated on Friday afternoon and Sonja's was closed. On Monday, we had to meet with the funeral home. I called Sonja and left a message to say that we would be in the next day. When I arrived with my Mother, Sonja came from behind the counter and said she could not help us. She had used all of 125 red roses for a funeral the previous day. She said her next order would not arrive until Saturday. When I said, that was okay because the funeral wasn't until the afternoon, she said she could not guarantee that they would be in on time for the funeral Saturday afternoon. I said, I don't know what we are going to do now She said that I could go down the street to Cosmopolitan Flowers. Instead I went to Hi Way Florists on Henderson. I am happy I did! The flowers were beautiful 1 dozen roses in a vase with some greenery. The lady at Hi Way had no problem ordering the roses in for Saturday. From now on, I will be going to Hi Way Florists for all of the flowers I order. read more

I contacted Sonya over a month before my wedding regarding wedding flowers. I did a ton of research regarding flowers I'd like for the wedding and during our email exchanges, Sonya indicated that many of the flowers I wanted were not possible or unavailable so I spent quite a bit of time over several days looking for new options. On August 19th she told me we had a three week window for ordering and we had identified a $750 budget that would be workable with what I wanted. On August 22, Sonya told me the cost had gone up to $900, and didn't provide an explanation. Her emails became increasingly brief and bordering on rude, and later on August 22 she told me we had run out of time and now the only flowers she could get were white roses for $775. Apparently there was an ordering deadline she neglected to inform me of. After I expressed my frustration, Sonya replied "At this time, I no longer have the time to discuss. Perhaps you would be better served with a larger organization like Costco." So, after committing so much time to communicating with Sonya over four or five days, I was left with no florist. I then contacted Hi-Way Florist on Henderson and they were extremely friendly and helpful and were able to get many more varieties of flowers than Sonya said she could get, and with less time. I was happy with my flowers in the end and the total was very close to my $750 budget. I have to say, I just don't understand how Sonya can get away with behaving the way she did--but then some segments of the wedding industry seem to have a completely different standard for customer service than the "real world". My advice is to stay away from Sonya's. read more

Disappointing, cannot begin to explain how we feel regarding the extreme lack of service for flowers that were delivered to my sister-in-laws funeral yesterday. My nieces originally worked with Sonya for the order of hydrangeas, their mother's favorite, (along with other flowers) for the table setting at their mother's funeral. The hydrangeas fared very poorly only hours after being placed in the vases. My niece (19) called Sonya and she said to come done to discuss. While still dressed for the funeral, she went down with a sampling of the problem, and Sonya did not offer any apologies or condolences, and spoke very condescendingly to her. She called me while in the flower shop very distressed. I asked to speak with Sonya. When she came on the phone again she offered no apologies, spoke to me in a very elevated tone, stating it was our fault, and she would not be doing anything else for us, and when I questioned her tone of voice she told me the conversation was done, and hung up on me. What needs to be questioned here is why Sonya did not do the right thing? The right thing, without question would have be to apologize for the dead flowers, and provide a refund for the hydrangeas. The order was over $300, and the hydrangeas were less than 1/2 of the total order. She would have come out of even, gained a customer (our entire family) for life, and not have a young woman experience the worst treatment of her life on the day of her mother's funeral. Even if it had been a loss for Sonya, it still would have been the right thing to do. When a business does well the customer tells maybe ten people, when a business does poorly, that customer will tell 30. Very, very disappointing. read more

All Winnipeggers!!! So.... If you want to send flowers NEVER use Sonya's flowers on The corner of Inkster and Main Street! They don't listen to what you order, they send something totally different from what you order and they are dishonest! There are so many other better options in the city that are nice to their patrons and respect and appreciate their business... And will not ask you after an honest concern about what you ordered (as it was NOT what was ordered) to find another florist!!! We ordered flowers for the holiday to send to family and friends and we advised Sonya of the amount we wanted to spend and of exactly what we wanted to send. Sonya advised it would be no problem and charged the credit card for the correct amounts... The arrangements were not sent on time as one of them went to the wrong address completely and was left there... Not only that she sent something totally different from what was agreed upon and when we told her that is not what we agreed on, Sonya advised us that "YOU DID NOT SPEND ENOUGH MONEY FOR WHAT YOU REQUESTED". This should have been advised to us BEFORE, when we made the reservation!!!! Sonya was getting getting angry by this and sdvised us that we should find another florist to use in the future!! This IS not how you run a business Sonya!!!!! I believe that if you order a service and pay for it, don't you deserve what you have paid for? The mistake is not what is the problem, the way Sonya spoke to us IS THE PROBLEM and the fact that she was Dishonoest about it IS THE PROBLEM!!! Thanks for all of your support!!! read more
