Such a gem in South Pasadena…read more A group of mom friends and I did the Thursday art journaling class and it was so much fun! It was so nice to be able to show up and be instructed. We were able to tap into our creativity and have a fun time. Emily, the owner had wine and snacks and explained everything in detail so you didn't need to have any experience. There was a group of ladies that seemed to be regulars and it very much created a community vibe. And the best part at the end is there was very little cleanup. I can't wait to come back during the day when the shop is open in the front and browse for some gifts.

This is a place where you can admire an art display made of tires, a sowing machine powered by a bicycle, a moving dining table powered by six bicycles and talk to the artist. This is a review specifically for their adult woodworking class…read more I was looking for a beginner's woodworking workshop for myself, but the other ones I've looked at were a bit intimidating (and kinda expensive for my budget). At first I thought they only offered classes for children, but I looked through their website and there it was, classes for adults! I was hyped! The projects looked so cute. I wanted to learn the basics. Woodworking is pretty fun, but you also have to be patient. Blue, the instructor, was super awesome! She gave a lot of suggestions and was supportive in whatever you wanted to create (as long as they had the tools and materials available). They offer the class inside one of their school buses (very spacious, looks really cool). I would go again if my schedule permitted it.

Craig Elwood designed a stunning price of art with this space. We visited the exhibit for Robert Langs FOLDED exhibit and his work was beautifully displayed. Just outside of this exhibit was the work of the students. Showcased was everything from packaging to furniture design. There is a new exhibit each term and I can't wait to check out the next one!

She is very talented and patient crafts artist. I worked with her for the past 6 months, I had a lot of pieces in my project. Everything came out perfect. The frames and matting that Kate helped me pick out has perfectly complimented my artwork, I couldn't be happier! I got fed up going to Aaron Brothers. They are just so impersonal and commercial. I was glad to find Random Custom Framing. I usually go there Saturdays and always receive personal attention and know that my pieces will turn out just right. The vibe is community, support, growth and education, vs the "churn and burn" mentality of other studios. The teachers are all excellent and owner/teacher Amy has extensive knowledge in all areas of ceramics. I have learned wheel throwing, hand building, slip cast mold making, glaze formulation, nerikomi, marbling, mono-printing, and luster applications--just to name a few! The studio is generous with provided tools, a huge reference library, oxides, glazes, storage areas and open studio hours. This is truly a community and I've met some amazing people here. Highly recommend!

THEY HAD A BLAST learning about clay, how to mold pieces, using tools, etc. The studio is in a prime location, super clean and teachers are welcoming and knowledgeable. I saw a dozen or so spinwheels so I plan on doing a girls night out at the studio at some point. Can't wait to go back.

I just celebrated my birthday with a group of girlfriends and Aja was both our host and instructor…read more The process of book was seamless she gave all the information we needed and checked in all the way up till our booking. She was thoughtful and showed up early so we could use the kitchen and bar area to set up our appetizers and drinks. She set up the art stations while we drank and ate. Later she lead the class while also taking candid photos of our group. She took her time explaining the process and checking in to make sure we were all following along. Aja was fun and entertaining. She took various groups shots always paying great attention to detail. This was a wonderful experience and I would absolutely book again. We were the only party at the time, she laid out all the art to choose from. The space was clean and large enough to accommodate my 10 group and plenty of space to walk around. There were couches and kitchen area with a small refrigerator. Overall the space was a 10. Experience a 10. And instruction a 10.

Once we saw her in person, we instantly remembered her. The space where she hosted was spacious, clean and large enough to accommodate a larger crowd if needed. We were a group of four. She was able to help both boys complete their artwork and give the moms extra time to finish. We felt bad taking longer than the kids and Aja did not rush us. She has such a calm demeanor and so much patience with kid and adults. I would highly recommend her. Her love of art and experience with kids is so amazing!
