Started taking classes here in April 2022 and have since transitioned into a studio membership. I have been to two other studios in the Los Angeles area and this one was by far my favorite. The vibe is community, support, growth and education, vs the "churn and burn" mentality of other studios. The teachers are all excellent and owner/teacher Amy has extensive knowledge in all areas of ceramics. I have learned wheel throwing, hand building, slip cast mold making, glaze formulation, nerikomi, marbling, mono-printing, and luster applications--just to name a few! The studio is generous with provided tools, a huge reference library, oxides, glazes, storage areas and open studio hours. This is truly a community and I've met some amazing people here. Amy, studio owner, and her team is amazing at Fahrenheit! She and two other teachers were so gracious with their time and space and hosted my daughter's girl scout troop of about 15 girls. THEY HAD A BLAST learning about clay, how to mold pieces, using tools, etc. The studio is in a prime location, super clean and teachers are welcoming and knowledgeable. I saw a dozen or so spinwheels so I plan on doing a girls night out at the studio at some point. Can't wait to go back. read more

I have been taking classes here for the last 9 months or so and LOVE the community that this studio fosters. Whether you are brand new or experienced, you are welcomed with open arms. I have only taken classes with Amy, the owner, and she is so generous with time and materials-- where else can you find open studio time 15 hours per day, 5 days per week?! This place is a gem. Started taking classes here in August. All three instructors (Amy, Erick, Jasmine) are amazing and ready to answer your questions or show you a different technique. I went from never having taken a ceramics class or touching a wheel to having a dinner set of bowls and some beautiful vases. Love the space and everyone is super nice. Unbelievably difficult to deal with. Did a make your own pipe class and got the run around for two months trying to get my pipes. Still nothing- so I'm assuming they're lost or broken at this point. I asked when to come in- came when they said to come. No one could help me find my pieces. Asked if they could ship and they said yes. Literally waited two months and still nothing- and they stopped responding. I'm so frustrated- and I hope no one else goes through this. Still waiting on any response or a refund from this place. Honestly a terrible, terrible experience for me. Be cautioned before you deal with this studio in any regard. I told and will continue to tell my friends and acquaintances not to go here. read more

Had a terrible experience with this place. When I checked the upcoming classes for throwing, it appeared as if the class time I wanted was almost full, so I called to confirm if space was available. I was told yes, so I booked the class. When I showed up for the first class...I was the only 'student'! I was told it would be like private tutoring by Amy, the gal that taught the class. Though I felt like it was a bait/switch thing...I went ahead with it. To be honest, had I know Amy was a heavy smoker I would not have signed up. She took FAR too many smoke breaks on MY time and dime! So much for the 'private' lessons...she would do a quick demonstration and then leave me at it to practice. She'd go off and work on her own projects, smoke, chat with her friends that would stop in, smoke and then smoke some more. She'd check in pretty much after I had messed it all up...very frustrating and not very encouraging. After the second week, I was having some issues and she said she would meet me on a different day than the class time and help me out. Guess what? I show up and she's awol...she forgot. Needless to say, I was so disappointed and discouraged I dreaded going in for the next classes, even went on some days to practice but I had such a bad vibe from this place and experience...I haven't even gone back to pick up the crap that made it to the kiln. Don't waste your money or your time...not to mention the area is totally sketchy and not really safe to walk alone at night. If you do take a class, make sure the sun is out! read more

I have always LOVED and APPRECIATED ceramics so, for me, taking a course was an obvious next step. I choose FAHRENHEIT CERAMICS, and could not have been happier! This is a studio where beginners (which I am) are welcomed with open arms and encouraged to learn, make mistakes, have fun, and create beautiful pieces - MY pieces. Amy, my instructor (and one of the owners), knows her craft and knows it well. She thoroughly explained the art of throwing without making it overly complicated. Her teaching style/method is well thought out: demonstrate the steps, answer questions and let the student go for it. She didn't hover while I worked, but was always close by so I could ask questions. One of Amy's best qualities is her nonjudgmental disposition - something us beginners need! OVERALL... -- the price point for classes is very fair. -- the people (members, students and instructors) are warm and welcoming. -- the ceramics being created by members and students is inspirational and down right good! I'll continue to learn, practice and create at Fahrenheit Ceramics for as long as possible! read more

I took the beginner class from Amy. She's a great teacher! Excellent at describing different techniques and helping troubleshoot issues. She and the other members of the studio are so generous with their advice and expertise. It makes being a beginner (I had never thrown before but always wanted to try) a really great experience. I have learned so much and I absolutely love throwing now! I absolutely would recommend Fahrenheit Ceramics to anyone who wants to learn this really really fun hobby. read more

I love my experience at Fahrenheit Ceramics! I took the Mold making class with Ari Bryce and Amy - and it was incredible. I learned a ton - and loved it so much, I signed up for the monthly membership. I have some experience from college, but feel more like a newbie - however, everyone has been so incredibly patient, helpful, and kind. Looking forward to more slip casting and making more molds as well as throwing again (and taking classes)! I totally recommend Fahrenheit! read more

I signed my daughter up for a six week ceramics class this spring. The class was taught by Amy. This class was to take place in the six weeks before spring break, perfect timing! Amy ended up cancelling/postponing 4 out of the 6 classes. In fact, she cancelled so many, and it was so confusing we ended up not getting our last class but by then we were pretty discouraged so it really didn't matter. Ceramics requires timing, in order to trim pots for example, you need to get to them when they are still semi-wet. With so any cancellations, you lose the flow of the class. Honestly, if you have stomach flu, you probably know more than an hour in advance of the class. I don't sense Amy has any interest in children, maybe she's better with adults. She'd give about 10 minutes of instructional time before going off to work on her own stuff, she really didn't seem interested in any sort of mentoring. Furthermore, smoking a butt just outside the studio door every half hour and coming in reeking of cigarettes just isn't the sort of mentorship I'm interested as a mom.
