The goal is to feel great after and this is the place that achieves it. There are times where a…read morehigh end place doesn't give you results. Feeling sore the next day from deep tissue massage gave me better range of movement.

Despite living in Hoboken for nearly two decades, this was my first visit to Moonlight Spa. I've…read moregotten massages at several other places in the square mile, but none were ever quite this affordable. Moonlight is a no-frills establishment. They don't have you fill out a health questionnaire when you arrive. There's no choice of scented oils or aromatherapy in the room. It's not fancy or especially inviting inside. The sheets and blankets on the massage tables are worn. They move very fast to get you in and out. That being said, my $55 hour massage was great , much better than the $200 massage I got at SoJo last year. I was able to make an appointment for myself and my husband a day prior - it was a weekday, so I figured they'd have availability. I wasn't expecting them to have a room for couples, but when we arrived, they brought us right to a room with dual massage tables. We were a little early, so they got started with us early - very efficient. The hot stones felt great on my back. The reason I'm knocking them a star is the noise level. We heard a lot of background noise: the spa's phone ringing, employees talking and moving about. They did have relaxing music playing in the room, but it didn't completely tune out the noise outside the curtain. It didn't take away from my massage experience, though. My expectations for this establishment were met. If you just want to feel good without breaking the bank and are OK without all the pomp and circumstance, this is your place.

I was flexible since I was off of work but it kinda defeats the purpose of an appointment lol. The sheets didnt smell like they washed them with soap and i had back acne the next day which makes me feel like this place was not sanitary. You can hear the toilet flushing in the hallway and the store next door was bumping music the whole time. Not a very relaxing environment. Never returning.

I made an appointment ahead of time for 11 am on a Monday. I was looking for a no frills, no thrills, cheap massage place just to get all the knots out, and this fit the bill. An hour body massage is $50. There was a Yelp check-in deal for $89.99 one hour couples massage, but when I showed them, they said it was old, and they didn't honor it. They also advertise several different types of massages (ie. Swedish, deep tissue, Shiatsu) but no one asked what type we wanted. It ended up being fine. My masseuse asked several times about the pressure just to make sure I was okay. Overall, the massage helped me relax but I probably won't be back, just because I don't live that close by, and traffic can be kind of crazy in that area. Tip - there's a parking lot but it can get a bit cramped since there are other shops in the same lot.

BEWARE!! $90 + non-optional "25% + TIP" with 2-way lock (PRISON)...will hold you hostage if you…read moredon't generously "OPTIONALLY TIP" !! (I was offered a happy ending, but declined.) This is what I would call a "middle-of-the-road" place, pretends to be a spa but is somewhere between a $60 NYC massage parlor and outright rub-and-tug swindle joint. There is no "$90 tip included" massage (whomever planted that review is either female, or one of the staff/friend of the place). Expect to pay $90 plus be extorted for a generous "tip" that is NOT optional. They intentionally have a 2-way lock installed on the door that is controlled from the 2nd floor, so they can literally LOCK YOU INSIDE if you refuse to leave a "generous tip" (OVER 20%). They have a sign saying "suggested 20% tip" which is a JOKE. For a $90 massage, I asked to tip $15 and the woman basically refused to give me change, then rudely took a phone call while talking LOUDLY in (Thai/Chinese?), clearly saying "Eff You". I demanded change and was lucky to be let out of this prison. While the massage itself was good, I will not tolerate being HUSTLED and SCAMMED by basically sex workers who pretend to be a normal / semi-upscale massage/spa, and then hold you ransom if you don't PAY UP. [There is a word for this type of scam in Japan... These people are definitely not Japanese, but it's right up there with that level of shadiness.] Nice, relaxing massage RUINED by the scammer sex-worker "pay more or else we'll lock you inside and talk rudely on the phone while ignoring you while you ask for change" vibe. Generally, a run down "spa" that is just sex workers in disguise. BTW, get a new plumber, because your sad excuse for "tile work" where your lame "handy-man" basically slapped a bunch of grout and glue all over the wall all around the faucets while replacing your failed plumbing -- essentially ruining what was once a nice original tile job from the early 2000's -- is outright ghetto. At least for way you're hustling customers, it's reassuring to know you got scammed by a sad wanna-be plumber (probably your family member), who doesn't know WTF they're doing and destroyed your entire 400sf "sauna" tile shower with shoddy, horrid looking workmanship that looks like it was done by a 4th grader.

When leaving the woman ask me for tip I was going to the tip 18 dollars (20%) for respect and she was like oh no you should tip more.
