I live in California, and this is quite literally the BEST salon I have ever been too!! They are well trained so every hair cut it the best I've ever gotten, and they are so fun to talk to and hang out with. It's the salon experience every woman dreams about. Bad business practice, beware. the first attempt with my stylist Anita trying to add a new highlight color- after rinsing my hair she has to add another glaze because my highlights are not showing up, so another attempt with my highlights coming out a red orange not a burgundy red as requested. 1st wash at home my hair turns a brassy orange. call salon next day and they tell me to come back- second attempt......she re-glazes my hair and tells me she will leave it in longer that this will solve the problem, she then now tells me that red highlights are hard to do and i will need to come back every 2 weeks,........well if i would have known this i would never had agreed to any changes she said she could do. I even showed a picture this time of a highlight color, well 2nd attempt no good, Anita states " well its close to the color you wanted" WHAT!!!!! .........my whole head of hair is red, nothing i asked for or wanted........ my first wash at home my whole bath tub was filled with red hair dye, now my highlights are a brassy orange .........again, and now I am noticing no highlights to frame my face were done and my base color is darker, so I call salon, they said to come back in and there would be another stylist to help consult with my stylist Anita to get the correct color. Nothing like this happened , no other stylist to consult with, Anita was ready now to do my highlights with a permanent hair color. OK....... lets step back here out of the twilight zone, you cant get my color right the 1st 2 attempts so now lets do a permanent color. Yes its true, I opted out of this and asked for my money back and i was told i need to speak with owner I call next day and spoke with owner Sophia, she states there policy is not to give refunds, I would have to come in for them to try and fix my color, I stated "I'm not comfortable with that, I have been the 2 times already, I only wanted the cost of the hair coloring back" again owner refused. at this time i told the owner i will be posting my bad experience on yelp and she told me " okay then go ahead". If you cant perform the services why do you think you should keep my money!!!!! read more

I love Chloe, she's been cutting my hair for years. I started by donating my hair and having her give me an angled bob that I loved. I eventually let that grow out, and then decided to donate my hair again and cut it to a short pixie. She did the most incredible job with the cut and color. She gave me blond highlights that looked gorgeous even growing out. I live in New York, and only visit family in Jersey, but people ask all the time who does my hair. The only downside of her being so incredible is that she books up quickly, so you'll need to call far in advance for a weekend appointment. Overall, the entire staff is warm and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Strongly recommended. read more

I found Sophia's here on yelp and based on California Julie's review, their location, their website and my initial conversation with a totally sharp and happy schedule coordinator (we googled terms and photos together while booking my appt over the phone to make sure we understood each others' terminology), I booked my first Jersey shore hair appointment this winter after moving back here from 20 years in Philadelphia! I needed to find a local place that had the friendliness and fashion forwardness without the over the top costs that can be found in Philly and Jersey burbs! I'm so happy with their level of talent and friendliness and good business practices! They don't aim to make your service fees sky high so that you wait too long between color appts, they offer useful discounts for first timers, referrals, and birthdays. Further, I love the decor and design; it is earthy and solid with high quality finishes that are professionally maintained. I love their product line, Kevin Murphy and have found the product of my dreams, Hair Resort Spray. Kudos to Jen who does my color and cuts and Sophia who now cuts my husband's hair and to everyone working there who makes coming to Sophia's a friendly and beautifying experience! read more
