The reason for the A-OK rating is that I had a pretty significant ski accident, and hurt my knee. I was recommended by a co-worker to go there, so I did. After two treatments, I was told that I should be good to go, and that it wouldn't be out of the question to see me back on the slopes for some spring skiing. What I found funny about this is my knee was nowhere NEAR ready for any such activity. The stability was hardly there, and as of today, I have yet to return to the hills and that was closing in on 3 years ago. I ended up going to a sports therapist to get it to where it is now (close to healthy). What probably should have happened after that was a third checkup to see how it was doing, along with some proper stretches that could have helped speed up the recovery. The injury I sustained was similar to what some NHLers experience when they have a knee injury. I should really be better by now, according to how things looked. I'm not deterring anyone from going to this place. But ask more questions, as I should have, and you will probably give these guys 4 stars.

I went to I Recover for a medical detox off of alcohol in early. I was detoxed in one day, but…read moreplanned to stay for the total 7 days, in order to strengthen my sobriety. The only medicine I received was some Valium the first couple of days. My cost for the 7 day stay was $5,250. This is outrageous considering the services I received which were zero. I could not get one counselling session, I had to beg one of the counsellors for literature and worksheets I could do for the remaining 6 days. I asked the director of client services if I could have a 3 ring binder to keep my sheets in and he told me I would have to purchased this myself (keep in mind we are talking about a $1.00 binder and they have hundreds). Do not go to this facility for a detox from alcohol. It is literally just a money grab. Jim the owner is money hungry and does not care about the clients. I know this first hand as I attended a 30 day treatment previously. Unfortunately I have been to other facilities as well and I recover is the worst of the worst. They are understaffed and very unmotivated to truly help you. The counselling is sub par at best and you are treated like a prisoner. Do not buy into the pictures on the web site. There is not a single couch or comfortable chair in the place. Food is mediocre and cheap (think potatoes and frozen vegetables). I wrote a long letter to both Bryden and Jim in regards to my concerns about the way I was I was treated and of course I did not hear anything back nor was I offered any compensation for the way I was treated. Bryden the director of client services quit a few days after I left. His comment to another client was that he could not stand it there anymore and that all Jim cared about was money. Once they have your payment there is really no concern for your well being. The only call out is to the night staff who were the most caring and considerate people in the entire place. Do not spend your money here. there is a great facility close to Fernie in the mountains that offers a much more comprehensive program that is by far way more worth your hard earned money.

But what won me over was the lengthy wonderful massage. I even asked if this was a common practice or if she was possibly done earlier then expected and had extra time to fill and she said no this is how all pedicures are done that they all allot that much time for the massage! Plus they offer a quick but wonderful hand massage at the very end.....I definitely will be going back :)

The doctors here really are warm, friendly discreet and respectful. The front end staff is also friendly and they are accomodating. This is such a busy office and they do the best they can to get you in. This is my one beef with this office and that is the fact that they are soooo busy. If you need to get in to see your ASAP, making an appointment for later in the day or even the day after is next to impossible and you have to go as a walk-in. I have to admit this is disappointing, but you have to keep in mind that at this moment, Sylvan does not have an urgent care facility. So the doctor's offices in town take on that volume. I do think that that extra workload can make quality care difficult and thus this office is aggressively advocating the urgent care unit. With the population growth in the last few years, our community sorely needs it! If you really do need care after hours and can't make it into Red Deer, doctors are available on call. I did have to utilize this once and the doctor was kind, attentive and did not feel put out for the visit. Mind you, I did need it! I would recommend this office if you are looking for a family doctor. However, as mentioned before, due to the population of Sylvan, be aware that scheduling is difficult, but do keep in mind that the demand is out of their hands.
