I went to I Recover for a medical detox off of alcohol in early. I was detoxed in one day, but planned to stay for the total 7 days, in order to strengthen my sobriety. The only medicine I received was some Valium the first couple of days. My cost for the 7 day stay was $5,250. This is outrageous considering the services I received which were zero. I could not get one counselling session, I had to beg one of the counsellors for literature and worksheets I could do for the remaining 6 days. I asked the director of client services if I could have a 3 ring binder to keep my sheets in and he told me I would have to purchased this myself (keep in mind we are talking about a $1.00 binder and they have hundreds). Do not go to this facility for a detox from alcohol. It is literally just a money grab. Jim the owner is money hungry and does not care about the clients. I know this first hand as I attended a 30 day treatment previously. Unfortunately I have been to other facilities as well and I recover is the worst of the worst. They are understaffed and very unmotivated to truly help you. The counselling is sub par at best and you are treated like a prisoner. Do not buy into the pictures on the web site. There is not a single couch or comfortable chair in the place. Food is mediocre and cheap (think potatoes and frozen vegetables). I wrote a long letter to both Bryden and Jim in regards to my concerns about the way I was I was treated and of course I did not hear anything back nor was I offered any compensation for the way I was treated. Bryden the director of client services quit a few days after I left. His comment to another client was that he could not stand it there anymore and that all Jim cared about was money. Once they have your payment there is really no concern for your well being. The only call out is to the night staff who were the most caring and considerate people in the entire place. Do not spend your money here. there is a great facility close to Fernie in the mountains that offers a much more comprehensive program that is by far way more worth your hard earned money. read more

the staff are very caring and skilled, the food is wonderful, better than a hotel. I was just expecting hospital food. I frequently am there to do computer work as a programmer and web developer so I have got to see it grow from a small 5-7 people at a time, now about 20-24 at a time, then to the new building soon to have 60 beds. But quality just seems to get better. read more
