I have a profound hearing loss. At 65, I struggle to hear/understand speech. It started in my early 20's & by age 42 I was wearing aids in both ears. It has gotten progressively worse with no hearing ability in my left ear & very bad tinnitus. That gives him intimate knowledge of the features. My father is a cantankerous 90 year old, who has profound hearing loss. I needed a hearing aid repaired and I was interested in a newer set due to my old ones being 5yrs old. I am very lucky to have insurance to help with copayment every 5 yrs also. After discussing repairing my broken hearing aid with Nathan we began discussing a new line from Phonak that might be a better fit for my needs and wants in a hearing aid. He very thoroughly compared and contrasted the hearing aid he recommended. He was able to arrange a trial pair for me to use for a little bit and it was just what I was wanting. Nathan Lev helped my 91 year old father hear again! My dad thought his hearing was increasingly getting worse, but Nathan got to the bottom of it. Love this place. The staff is really amazing. They're warm and friendly, and make you feel completely at home. Nathan is relaxed, easy to talk to, and is very knowledgeable in his field. And bonus, being a musician as I am, he understood my concerns about wearing hearing aids while performing. As he went through the different types of hearing aids, and what different manufacturers had to offer, I never once felt pressured or pushed to buy a certain model. Sound Advice even filled out and turned in all my insurance paperwork. Once I began wearing my hearing aids, I noticed that my guitar strings sounded like they were buzzing, even though I knew they were not. I care for my grandmother who is 86 years old, and has incredibly hard hearing and has been wearing hearing aids for the past 10 years. We have went to three other ear doctors, over the years but I must say this. Dr Nathan was so incredibly thorough with her, I watched him perform more tests than I've seen with her past doctors. I went in for a hearing test. I wanted to make sure everything was ok, as it seemed my hearing was a bit off. I was given a hearing exam, very thorough. Results were clearly explained. Wow. Just, WOW! I opted to come to Sound Advice because of all the raving reviews here on YELP. No wonder there are so many awesome reviews. I was seeking a hearing test and possible hearing aids for my father. He had had a bad experience at another facility in Stockton that wanted over 7K for a pair of aids. I dragged him here, hoping for a better experience. Nate was WONDERFUL with my dad (he has dementia, so working with him is not easy by any stretch). He explained everything he did during the exam, explained the results in terms we could both understand and even let him take a pair that was tuned just for him, for a "test drive". He didn't try to sell us on anything more than what my father needed. Prices were so much more reasonable and there were lots of choices within his price range. Aimee found a growth in one ear that my other doctors had not found and made sure I had it checked out before they went further. I appreciated their concern for safety. This is a wonderful place to work with. I got my first hearing aids in 18 years. I went from a severe hearing impairment to almost done. The women at the desk are very knowledgeable and can troubleshoot just about any issue for you. Nathan, the audiologist, is wonderful to work with and an excellent problem solver. I've resisted the process of shopping for hearing aids for over 6 years because of all the horror stories I'd heard: adjustment issues, battery problems, cost...etc. Finally, after reading another positive review I decided to make an appointment.
