I took my sister to see Chante Moore in concert January 7th for her birthday and we had a great time. Our seats were three rows away from the stage, and Chante was extremely engaging with the crowd. Hearing her life and in person is a remarkable experience. She is a very beautiful and talented woman. I would suggest that when you go to this theater to bring seat questions, because the seats are very small, uncomfortable, and bunched together. But the sound quality was excellent and we still had a really good time. read more

Smaller venue that makes concerts feel like they're just for you! We came here for a Gavin DeGraw concert. Online, it's pretty difficult to figure out what the seating arrangement looks like. So we played it safe and got lower level tickets that looked straight on at the stage. A bit pricier but WORTH IT! Even though there was all the standing room in the pit in front of us, we seemed so close still. What it convenient about this venue especially is the bars and restrooms are very close so you are not walking a long way away from the concert taking place. They really thought this venue through when creating it. It's in the middle of the casino by the food court area. There's plenty of signs so it's easy to find. You can park in multiple locations and they are all about the same distance from where you need to go. read more

This review is only in regards to a wedding there, although I've been here for a talk before too. One of my friends got married here last night and it was a great time - she was even able to sing a song on the stage. All of the food, waitservice, etc. was top notch as well. The location is pretty easy to find when you enter the lobby of MotorCity Casino, also. The other time I went here was a while ago, when JK Simmons was in town for a talk, and the venue was good for that as well. Overall I'd recommend this venue for weddings, too. read more

We went to see Marlon Wayans' standup here, and what a great theater! There really isn't a bad seat in the house, though we were up close, they kind of pack you in there. I think next time, I'd go for one of the tables that go around the top. You'd get much more space and still have a great view. I love that it's small - it gives a perfectly intimate feeling, especially for comedy. Honestly, I'd come back here for almost any kind of show - it was so easy to get in and out, parking was a breeze, and it has a modern upscale vibe to it. A great space! read more

There are monitors around however they need to work on the clarity of images presented. With all the high def I would expect the images to be crisper and clearer. I always enjoy going to the Sound Board at Motor City Casino! I usually frequent the Sound Board for concerts, especially bc it's a smaller and more intimate venue with less people, opposed to being at a larger arena with more people. However, the last few times I've been to the Sound Board was for the Pistons Viewing Party. The tickets were free, and the food (Little Caesars Pizza/Hot Dog Station; soft drinks) were free as well! Plus $1.00 Drafts! There were also other activities, such as online trivia contests, free picture taking with retired Piston Players; and intermission entertainment as well! The Viewing Parties were overall such a great time! Needless to say that I definitely look forward to returning for further concerts and viewing parties! read more

Nice small theater. The sound was very good the seats were comfortable and a lot of leg room. The bad there obstructed seating on the sides. Saw Get The Led Out they play Led Zeppelin music but they are not a tribute band the singer made it clear. They were fantastic, if if you like Led Zepp you will probably enjoy them. The ushers were friendly. The ticket takers asked if we had any questions. The entry was easy, quick through a metal detector. Keys, wallet and phone out of your pockets standard stuff. Intimate place, but do everything you can not to purchase obstructed view seats. About 1/4 of the upper level seating (see pic), you can only see 1/2 the stage. It sucked. And the camera guys who worked our show, I'm pretty sure they were Speck Howard Interns. We had obstructed view seats in section 250, so we could only see half of the stage. when the singer was on the half we couldn't see, we found ourselves looking up at the screens to see what was going on. The camera's weren't in focus 1/2 the time, or panned too far out to see any real detail. Also the quality of the screen resolution was very poor. You would think that if 1/4 of the seats had to depend on the camera men and screens, you would be on your game for both. Sadly, they were not. although they had 5 bars, you had to wait a considerable amount of time for a drink. You're a casino, and employ thousands of people! Put 1-3 extra people at each bar for the shows! I can't imagine the architect that designed this venue? They must've been high, drunk, or had a beef with Motor City. I would definitely see another show here, as long as I didn't have obstructed view seating. read more

I went for red wings fan night, free tickets to watch the game on the big screen. Whole event & venue was first class. Drove in from CLE, free valet parking. Beautiful new-ish casino easy to find in cork town. Walk in to sound board & guess what, the buffet is free for hockey fans! All u can eat chili dogs & pizza. $1 drafts. 16oz drafts!!!!!! It was great. HOF D man Larry Murphy was there signing everything one brought. What a nice guy! Red wings are first class organization. Game started, I watched awhile & headed back to the CLE. Tipped everyone every step of the way but still basically a free big night in Motown. Thanks everybody. The wings will do this once a month with a great alumni & hope I can make them all here. This is a really great venue. The only really obstructed views are on the second story and there are large beams that will block your line of sight. When they say obstructived view, they really mean it. Avoid those if at all possible. Otherwise, if you come here you're in for a treat. The seating is great there's not a bad seat on the first floor anywhere to be seen. Also the labeling of the rows is kind of deceptive. The double letters are still in the first bank of seats. There are viewing screens throughout the facility, so you'll still be able to see no matter where you are. Also there are bars located inside of the area or you can bring in treats from the dessert bar outside of the Sound Board. This is such a chill venue. The staff is super friendly. You'll be so happy that you went. Excellent venue!!!!! read more

This venue is awesome - not a bad seat in the house. The sound system is top notch. The only issue we had was ushers! They put us in the wrong seats 3 times - Not Kidding!!! Since I ordered the tickets several months earlier I knew my seats were main floor, but not exactly where so they just kept moving us! At any result we missed much of the beginning of the show due to this inefficiency and having to keep getting up to move - in addition it's a small venue and this was irritating to the people around us -- at one point someone asked who the "f" we were - as each time they moved us they moved another couple improperly seated. If I had not missed the first 35 minutes of the show it would have been a 5 rating! read more

I like this place, I've been invited here many times by friends who go to Motor City Casino. Ive seen most recently 'Naughty by Nature' and 'Howie Mandel' The reason this place is called sound board is because it delivers on sound like no other venue of its type. I've been to concerts at the competing MGM and it just doesn't compare. Here's my experience from start to finish for 'Howie Mandel' His how started at 8 pm and I arrived at 7:45pm. There was no parking on the regular levels so I made my way up to to the open air area of the garage and found a space way in the back. I mention this because this is a big place for such a small parking lot. I took the elevator to 2 and looked for the sound board directors. There was a big crowd for Howie so it wasn't hard to find the entrance. You get your tickets scanned and are off. The room is decorated in all black seating. There is a lower level right in front of the stage with side seating and an upper level. I've only ever sat in the upper level in the center section and from here if you're at a concert the volume can almost be too loud. I recommend lite blocking ear plugs for those with sensitive ears. They have a lot of "name" artists that come here and if one of your favorites does I recommend coming and seeing them as the environment is cozy but cool. read more

This is now one of my favorite venues to visit. Casino parking is free and easy to navigate. Clear signage throughout makes finding the venue uncomplicated. When we arrived inside the venue, ushers were immediately available to help us find our seats. As soon as we sat down in row FF, I realized there isn't a bad seat in the place. This intimate setting is a great place to enjoy entertainment in great seats at an affordable price. The ushers also were sure to keep an eye on seats, and asked people who were sitting in wrong seats to show tickets. The sound system was good, I could feel the vibration on the floor. I also enjoyed the convenience of having a buffet and casino to visit before and after the show without leaving the building. Overall great experience. read more

The young lady at the bar was kind and very upbeat. I highly enjoyed seeing Mo'nique tonight. I had great seats and overall would attend another event here! Great night out. Not a bad seat in the house! We were just a few rows from the stage for Rick Springfield, close enough to catch his cold! But look around- you could sit anywhere and have a great view. The design of Soundboard is so good, that even the balcony is perfectly fine. What would seem like typically bad seats, are not at all. On Ticketmaster, they call some balcony seats 'obstructed view' but they're really not- they are in the front with a rail going across. Are you sitting for a show? Probably not! You'll be standing at that rail! We will be back to this, one of the best designed music venues we have ever experienced. We took my daughter for a birthday celebration, she is Michael Jackson's number one fan since she was about 6 months old. We were here to help her celebrate her 31st birthday. We sat on the 1st floor. There's three sections, the main floor, 1st floor, and second floor. Our section was section 130 rows C in which we sat facing the stage, behind and above the sound/media area. Which was a perfect view, we only had two rows in front of us, so thank God theses people weren't tall. Being that we liked that section, we now know to purchase section 130 row A, first row in the middle and facing the stage. They do have bars two bars per floor for your drinks as well as soft drinks. The only food item you were able to purchase was chips. Wish they would have had popcorn. So, we know that before the any shows, plan on having your dinner. We attended the 7:30 show which ended at 9 PM. Our overall experience was great. read more

Three different acts with three different types of music played, plus a dj. All were heard well. Food was very good, in the buffet style setting it was set up as tonight. Surprised the hummus was even good, a rarity for buffet style places. Coffee was provided with the meal, but not water. Went to the bar to get a couple glasses of water, even expected to pay a bit. They were the small 11 oz. bottles and it cost $10 for two of them. That is the only reason this isn't a five star review. $5 for water is ridiculous. read more

I came here for the 98 Degrees concert and I definitely plan to come back for more events. The menu is small, but in an intimate manner that makes you feel close to the performer no matter where you are sitting. And since it is a new venue, the seats are larger than at some of the smaller, older venues, and there is plenty of leg room for people to pass in front of you, and the seats are staggered in a way that no matter how tall the person is in front of you, it should not impede you vision. The bar in the lobby was super busy for our show. They had about 6 lines of people and 2-3 servers, but they were busting their butts to try to serve us before the show started and our bartender was very pleasant considering how busy he was. As a music venue Sound Board is a great place, as long as the seats are right. Sound quality is excellent, aisles and seats very accessible, workers are very friendly. Our one and only complaint, crappy beer. The choices are Bud, Miller Lite, Stella Artois, or Labatts. Seriously every other venue is carrying better beers. I really don't understand since you can get better beer at any other Detroit (or Michigan, or everywhere else) venue. Even MGM Grand'd shows - much worst venue but much better beer. They figured out how to do it and make really good profits from it. Many sell craft beer in cans that I'm sure they purchase for less than a $1, and sell for $9-$12. We would pay that. As it was we bought two Labatts, but couldn't drink them. We just drank water. As much as we love the venue for a show we will probably not go back. Too bad because it's an easy fix. Cool place to see a concert. There's gambling and free parking, so it's quite a step above most venues. Small and intimate with great sounding audio. I didn't care for the makeshift sections 40-41 that were basically folding chairs in rows in an area behind the lighting guys and sound boards. Not to mention large structural posts that in certain seats I would imagine it is difficult to see around, especially if you've got some big hair in front of you. I saw an acoustic show there and was kind of thrown off by the sounds of credit card receipts being printed at the bar that could be heard well over the music. Insider tip: spring for the balcony seats! Way better vantage point and no noisy bar sounds. read more

Came here to see Sublime on Saturday. The show was great. I was a little disappointed in the execution by the staff. The doors got bumrushed at 8pm. There were lines of 25-30 people deep at the bars waiting for beer. The capacity is around 1500 I believe. They had 2 bars, with 2 bartenders each. The bartenders had no barbacks and they're making mixed drinks as well as serving beers. They did the best they could with what they were dealt, but it seemed like somebody - anybody - could have jumped behind the bar and helped out. The wait seemed to subside a little after an hour or so. I want to go see another show here because I liked the venue, but I really hope they have it together with the service. Overall, everyone was friendly and the crowd was great, but c'mon - it's a concert. It's been scheduled. You know how many tickets were sold. It's not like you own a restaurant and got slammed with a party of 100 on a Monday. read more

Pretty underrated place to see a show. It's on the smaller side, and has great sight lines throughout. I saw Third Eye Blind here last fall with my girlfriend, and it was a lot of fun. We had GA and had no issues seeing our lord and savior Stephen Jenkins, despite our average-as-all-hell height.
